Interview: Mr. B. Suresh, HOD at Nova College of Engineering and Technology, Godavari|Collegdunia

Mr. B. Suresh is currently working as the HOD of MBA & Head - Training & Placement, Nova College of Engineering and Technology, Vegavaram. He holds an M.B.A degree in Finance. In his teaching profession, he has taught the subjects Financial accounting and analysis, Financial Management, Cost and management accounting, Securities analysis and portfolio management, International financial management, Prospectives of management, Financial management, Financial markets and services, Business policy and strategic management and Corporate Legal Framework.

Mr. Suresh has worked for 1-year under as an Accountant under a Charted Accountant. He has 4 years’ experience (2008 to 2012) as an assistant professor in the M.B.A. department in Nova college of Eng & Tech, Vegavaram. He has also worked as an Assistant Professor in Vestal institutions, Eluru.

My academic experience has made me aware of the need for professional courses

I have about 9 years of experience in the education industry. I started off my career as an Assistant Professor & have understood the importance & need for professional courses in the society while working for over three years in Vestal Professional College, Eluru. Professional courses help students to stand on their own by starting their own business with the knowledge acquired and thereby, creating employment opportunities. I chose the education industry because this industry gives me an opportunity to shape better individuals for the society.

Developing excellent communication skills in students is a big challenge

Most of the students taking admission in our institution are from the rural region. So, the communication skill of students is poor. To shape them into better individuals & to make them industry-ready by improving their communication skills & other soft skills is one big challenge.

Extra classes for developing soft skills in students are provided

We have designed a unique curriculum for Soft skills training & have made it a mandate for all the students to attend these classes twice a week.

We aim at providing placements to every graduate of our institution

Our main goal is to provide employment opportunity to all the students graduating from our institution.

Training and classes by industry professionals builds confidence in students

We conduct personality development classes by inviting industrialists & IT professionals in order to provide the right motivation to our students.

We also conduct workshops that help students in getting hands-on experience.

Assigning a mentor to a group provides students with more chances to have guidance

Every faculty is assigned as a mentor for a certain number of students. They will look after students’ academic performance & guide them in achieving their goals. We also have different clubs & societies which will help students to work together on their similar interests.

Taking the responsibility of staying in touch with the students

I give students the opportunity to come up to me with any problem they have so that I can guide them in the best possible way. I take the responsibility of organizing events for their benefits & designing the curriculum.

Steps taken to promote the growth of students by developing their skills

We have collaborated with APSSDC (Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Centre) in order to provide better training & to provide better placement opportunity.

A leader should maintain a good relationship with the team members

A leader should have very good organizational skills & problem-solving skills. I try to maintain a good relationship with the students and parents & that speaks about my style.
