“In-house industrial practices and practical knowledge”
The curriculum at Annai Veilankanni’s College of Engineering ensures students develop all the relevant skills to become industry ready. The curriculum includes in-plant training, industry visits and guest lectures from industry experts as a prominent part to inculcate students with knowledge and give them full practical exposure. We carry out regular seminars on new and trending topics as well that keep students up to date with the marketplace.
What are some of the new programs you have introduced in your college?
“Advance learning courses with regular curriculum”
The Annai Veilankanni’s College is currently affiliated to Anna University, and all the major course programmes are decided by the University itself. However, we have introduced some add-on and elective courses to our curriculum like Python Coding for Computer Science Engineering department, CAD Courses for Mechanical and Civil Engineering. Signal Processing and Matlab Courses for Electronics and Communication Engineering have also been added.

How would you describe your leadership style?
“Building strong relations with team members”
My philosophy of leadership is centered on relationships with other faculty members and colleagues. I lead by giving more opportunities to the students by arranging more industry visits and works to them. I will always be the mentor for students to give them the right guidance at the right moment.
What would you like to tell people who want to join your college?
“Good academic exposure and placements”
Annai Veilankanni’s College of Engineering is the place where you will invest time to explore new opportunities and learn new things everyday. The course and curriculum is designed to cater to a practical approach rather than a result oriented approach. We have also signed MOUs with industry partners, like JBM auto, for providing better opportunities to the students. The Mechanical department of our college has 100% placement recorded last year.
What are some of the biggest challenges you see for higher education?
“Mentoring the mindset of students”
The biggest challenge is the mindset of students. I feel students are thinking more result oriented rather than getting more exposure practically. Students should be trained not only for skills but also mentally to change the way of their mindset. Students should gain the best practical knowledge of the updated curriculum designed as per industry requirements. They should be encouraged to carry out research and submit their research as a project from initial stages.

How do you guide your students to survive in such a competitive scenario?
“Your true competition is with yourself, not others”
I feel students should develop niche skills and have an appetite to learn. Students should compete with themselves rather than competing with other students, and set new milestones and achievements. Explore your true self and keep moving forward with a positive mindset.
