Being the TPO of Guru Nanak Institutions, Nagpur what are your responsibilities towards the students?

"I am responsible to arrange training programs for students and bringing good companies for placement drives"

As we all are aware that Placement Officers are those professionals who provide placement related information to students and also acts as a bridge between an institution and companies. And if I talk about my role, then I am responsible for taking care of the placement activities and training of students so that they can perform well during the actual interview process. Beside this, I need to work closely with eminent industries so that I can provide good placement opportunities to students. Also, I am accountable to work as a coordinator during industry-institute interaction sessions, expert lectures and also to collect feedback from the companies coming for placement. Lastly, arranging soft skills training programs and interview preparation sessions for students benefit also comes under the scope of my responsibilities. 


How the placement statistics of a college depends on different factors and where your college stands in this respect?

"Placement statistics of a college depends on students skill sets, college repute and curricula quality"

From my professional experience, I can say that there are many different factors that can affect the placement records and statistics of an institution, some of which include the quality of curriculum, reputation of college and lastly the caliber of students. Also, placement records can vary depending on the specific industry or companies goals but students of our Guru Nanak Institution are best and the reputation of college is quite good.


As a TPO, what challenges have you faced while uplifting the education quality of your institute?

"I sometime face challenges in delivering instructions and keeping students motivated"

Being the Training and Placement officer, I face hurdles in providing high-quality instructions to students as I also need to ensure that they are engaged in productive activities and remain motivated throughout the learning process. Additionally, I need to continuously innovate in my teaching methods to ensure that my students receive the best possible education.


Does your college organize any programs for students before the placement to enhance their skills?

"Our college offers courses on communication skills and also organize mock interviews regularly"

Our institute organizes many programs before commencement of placement drives to upgrade the skills of our students. And firstly we provide a comprehensive overview of respective companies and organizations and also about their expectations from students. In addition to this, a course on etiquette and professionalism is taught to them by Etiquette Specialist Miss. Priti Dhopte followed by communication skills training which is provided by MBA holder Prof. Ashima Wargis. Also, we educate them about resume and interview preparation with the support of Lecturer of IIT Bombay Mr.Mahesh Rakheja and mock interviews are organized by us on a regular basis in collaboration with industry experts and professionals. 


What steps are being taken by your institution to enhance its placement statistics and trends? 

"We are planning to introduce more rigorous and placement oriented training programs to students"

Our Guru Nanak Institution has achieved a stellar 80% placement record in the year 2021 and 2022 placement drives are still in progress. Also, we are expecting that our students will crack amazing placement offers and will soon be placed in reputed organizations of different sectors. And to improve the trends, we are analyzing the latest achievements as well as areas we need to improve or skills we need to develop in our students. Once we are done with our analysis, we will draft a detailed plan of action which will ultimately include conduction of more pre-placement training programs for students.

How does your institute prepare students and develop their skills in line with industrial requirements?

"We regularly guide and encourage them to participate in co-curricular activities and technical events"

For the purpose of developing the skills of our students and preparing them as per expectations of the industrial sector, we encourage them to join students Engineering clubs or society so that they can participate in events and learn something new. Also, students regularly participate in Engineering competitions like Hackathon, pursue internships which match their skills and passion and we also take them for industrial visits and tours.


What are some of the greatest strengths of your Guru Nanak Institutions and how can it be enhanced?

"Our legacy of preparing industry oriented professionals is our greatest strength"

The greatest strength of our institution is our ability to prepare our students for the outside competitive and corporate world. And in my opinion we can enhance our strength by providing more practical learning opportunities to students through internships.


How do you guide your students to sustain in such a competitive world and face failures in life?

"We regularly provide them feedback for resume preparation and also mentors are there for guide them"

We have adopted a few approaches to cheer our students whenever they face any kind of failure or rejection in the outside world. Firstly, we encourage them to keep trying and not to give up on their goals. And feedback and guidance is also provided to them by us on how to prepare and modify resumes as per the job requirements. Lastly, we connect them with other resources, such as mentors or networking opportunities that can help them in their job search.


In your opinion, what skills should a student develop before applying for campus placement? 

"Students must develop strong communication and problem solving skills"

In my view, some of the skills that students applying for campus placements should work on include communication, problem-solving and teamwork. Additionally, it is important for students to be able to sell themselves and their skillets to potential employers.

What advice would you like to give to the current youth and aspiring students?

"Keep chasing your dreams and stay firm during tough times in your life"

My advice for the current youth and aspiring students is that they should never give up on their dreams and stay strong and persist when life throws new challenges at you. Pursue your passion and don’t be afraid to take risks. Lastly, always stay positive and believe in yourself.
