Indian Institute of Fashion Technology Concludes fashionite 2023

Indian Institute of Fashion Technology, a Limca book record holder conducted its 19th Fashionite 2022 on the theme ‘Shadow of Style’. It was a unique Annual Fashion Show in which their talented 73 designers unleashed around 144 creative ensembles which were demonstrated by 27 sizzling models on a specially designed ramp at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Bangalore. It was an evening of celebration with a 1000-plus audience, on the chilly evening of 25th November 2022. Judging criteria included adherence to the theme, swatch selection, colour aesthetics, silhouette innovation, presentation of collections with accessories, ornamentation, styling, and originality, and the jury narrowed the field to 15 finalists.

Traditional, Ethnic, Western, Indo-Western, Greek, Egyptian, and Tribal art were only few of the themes explored in the exhibition. In this case, the colours were used to convey different meanings to the target demographic. Some of the garment designs were highly accessorised with headgears, Handmade jewellery, Handmade footwear, and some of the designs had highly intricate embellishment and surface ornamentation, such as Zardozi work, Kundan work, beadwork, patchwork, Quilling, traditional India embroidery, and many other techniques.

Ms. Surpritha M G was awarded IIFT Best Designer of the Year 2022. The Second category of Awards was won by Mr. Yathish S L, ‘BEST FASHION ILLUSTRATOR & DESIGNER’ was won by Ms. Niharika B R, Best Designer Award in B.Sc Fashion & Apparel Design was won by Mr. Charlee Vishal L, Second Runner up for Best Designer Award was won, Ms. Nischitha Y ’. The next category of award was for ‘BEST DESIGNER-NON TEXTILE which was won by Ms. N V Varshini, The Third category of Awards was won by Ms. Shwetha H R & Ms. Geetha Priya G.

The First Runner for Best Designer Award was won by Greeshma S for her theme ‘PAITHANI’ inspired by ‘MAHARASHTRIAN TEXTILE’. The Second Runner up went to Sambavi H. The fourth category of Awards for Best Collection was given to 5 students Deepthi Bharadwaj, Rashmi H S, Maheshwari G, Mamta, and Vibha of Fashion Designing and Boutique Management.

The top students in the BSc programme were also recognised during an awards ceremony. Audience members were mesmerised and thrilled by the imaginative performances of their children and loved ones. The designers, models, and international and domestic celebrities that participated in the presentation were a visual feast for the audience. The spokesperson for IIFT remarked, "We are proud but mesmerised by the ingenuity of our students, and we wish them all the best in their future endeavours." I pray that they eventually rule the fashion industry.

Ms. Seema Savio, principal of the International Institute of Fashion Technology, gave a vote of thanks at the end of the presentation. Along with it, certificates and other mementos from the Prestigious IIFT were given to each designer as a token of appreciation for their efforts.

IIFT Students Bags 9 out of 10 Ranks in Banglore University
