Dr Dinbandhu Mandal is an Assistant professor of EE Department in the Chaibasa Engineering College, Jharkhand. He did B.tech in EE and M.tech EE From IIT ISM Dhanbad. He also completed Ph.D REC from IIT ISM Dhanbad.

Being a Faculty of the Department, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Evaluate, monitor and mentor student academic progress are my primary duties”

Being a faculty of the department is a very challenging and at the same time very crucial job. It's almost a list of key responsible areas. I need to representing college or university in different conferences. Firstly, We provide academic support to students. Always be very active on phone and email. You would receive doubts in emails or texts or calls. Have to be present to answer all of those. Attending Faculty or departmental meetings and voicing concerns or providing suggestions for improvement are other duties. I always develop professional logistics to improve student performance. We guide, lead and mentor students in research projects. Also, evaluate, monitor and mentor student academic progress. Our campus creates, innovates and implements career-enhancement programs and activities. We supervise and support teaching assistants. Moreover, serve and support functional activities of departmental committees. Assess, review, evaluate student activities and progress continuously from my side. 


What do you see as the greatest strengths of Chaibasa Engineering College and how it can be enhanced?

“Our mission and vision is a great strength”

The biggest strength of the International school of management is its own mission and vision. Where the availability of a good education system, recruitment of excellent trainers, development of the best environment and accelerate the education system of Bihar is the exact mission of it. To enhance the strength, we should believe in its belief and at the same time contribute our fullest. So that it can prepare the roadmap easily.


What are the interventions and approaches you bring in apart from curriculum to train/teach the students?

“Provide different training approaches and focus on student development on campus”

In one lesson, a faculty may use many different training approaches with various end goals. They can know about their students and develop their thoughts. We follow the concept of explicit instruction to focuses on frequent questioning and guided practice to help them to learn a topic.

How does the Chaibasa Engineering College enhance the skills of the faculty and prepare them according to the industry standards?

“Provide training, soft skills, and other assessments for faculties”

A faculty’s skill enhancement is related to the development of his/her competencies. This competence which will enable and empower him/her. It includes training and practice in various techniques, approaches and strategies such as soft skills, counseling skills, interpersonal skills and lifelong learning skills. This will help in planning and conducting a proper assessment.


How does the curriculum of your department ensure the best practice of the industry?

“Align the curriculum with industry trends and latest strategies”

Curriculum strategies lend themselves to the development of particular employability skills. Faculty can provide vision into the usefulness and effectiveness of the materials. Students can deliver input on level of engagement, learning effort, and overall impression of the curriculum. If the curriculum is tied to a technician profession, involve industry representatives in reviewing and examining the curriculum. This should be done as part of the development process, but if it is not our department could consider a representative to review the curriculum for alignment with industry expectations.


When you came to the Chaibasa Engineering College, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?

“To educate pupils to be successful, ethical, and effective problem-solvers”

Our vision is to educate students to be successful, ethical, and effective problem-solvers and life-long learners. So, they will contribute positively to the economic well-being of our region and nation. We also prepare them to tackle complex challenges to face the world and achieve the same. Our campus follows the concept of summative and formative assessment.

How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?

“Providing work-integrated learning opportunities, programs, and encouraging them to get out from comfort zones”

We provide a Self-Awareness program and outlining the terms that they learn and why they learn. Our campus gives work-integrated learning opportunities and getting students out into the real world. We show students how to learn from their mistakes and encouraging them to get out of their comfort zones.
