Mr. Kamal Ahmad has been working as an Assistant Professor in Electrical and Communication Engineering Department at Ramgarh Engineering College, Ramgarh, Jharkhand. He has worked as an Assistant Professor at Dumka Engineering College before joining REC. And he has done B. Tech in ECE from Balasore College of Engineering and Technology, M.Tech from Techno India University as part of his academics.

Being a Faculty of the ECE Department, what are your responsibilities towards the students?

"I am responsible to portray my college on various platforms and address and fix students queries"

As an Assistant Professor of the ECE Department, my day to day tasks are quite challenging but overall my job is very satisfactory in the end. And I am accountable to represent our college in different events including seminars and conferences, provide academic guidance to my students, attend departmental and faculty meetings and offer suggestions for improvement of our department activities, events and course curriculum as well. In addition to this, developing professional logistics to enhance students performance on academic and non-academic levels, mentoring students for their research projects, evaluating and monitoring academic progress of students, inventing and implementing career-enhancement programs for students' complete development at personal and professional fronts, supervising teaching assistants also comes under the scope of my responsibilities. And I am very active on phone and email to proactively address students and faculty members' issues.


What do you see as your college’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced?

"Our aim of establishing a good education environment for students in Jharkhand makes us strong"

I firmly believe that the biggest strength of our institute is our goal of accelerating, developing and establishing a good education system for students and youths of our society so that together we can bring a positive change in society. Apart from this, our aim is to recruit excellent trainers to train students on real life skills and make them ready for the outside competitive world. And the only way to enhance our strength is that we should believe in the capabilities and potential of our teaching and non-teaching staff.


What approaches do you use apart from curriculum to teach the students?

"We use different kinds of teaching methods to train our students beyond books"

To educate our students beyond curriculum, our faculties use an amalgamation of different teaching-learning techniques. And to start with, they first explore students' areas of interests and passion and then adjust their ways of delivering education as we are aware that the academic needs of each student are completely different from one another. After this, our teachers follow the concept of explicit instruction to properly address students academic and non-academic queries and issues and resolve them on time. 


How does your department enhance faculty skills and prepare them as per industry standards?

"Our college train teachers through customized training programs based on their areas of expertise"

In order to enhance the soft skills, interpersonal skills and counseling skills of our teachers and make them more competent in line with today's industrial and academic standards, our college organizes a wide variety of training programs and encourages faculties to stay updated with the latest technologies and tools of their respective areas so that they can deliver the best content to our students.

How does the curriculum of your department ensure the best practices of industry?

"By including industry experts, teachers and students in its review and implementation phase"

We draft the curriculum by keeping in mind various important aspects of students' personality development and how we can increase employability skills in our students through our courses. So firstly, we take inputs from our highly qualified teachers about the effectiveness of existing study materials, and from students about the engagement level of curriculum and efforts they need to put in to learn important subjects concepts. Lastly, we involve Technical Professionals and industry representatives to review and examine the curriculum and also to include their suggestions as per latest industrial development and requirements. 


When you joined REC, what was your vision for it and how are you trying to achieve the same?

"It was to make our students capable enough to fix society problems and contribute in economic growth of our country"

I joined the Ramgarh Engineering College with an aim to educate our students to be a problem-solvers, ethically and emotionally strong individuals and life-long learners so that our students not only create an amazing lifestyle for themselves but can also contribute positively to the economic growth of our region and country and can confidently tackle real world challenges. And to make my goals true, I am using the concept of summative and formative assessment.

How do you prepare your students to cope up with the outside competitive world?

"By organizing self-awareness programs and providing integrated work-study opportunities to them"

In order to make our students ready for the outside world so that they can confidently present themselves in front of others, our college does organize self-conscious programs and provide work-integrated opportunities to students so that they can utilize their learning to fix some real world issues. In addition to this, we make our objectives very clear at the start of any session or discussion so that students can set realistic expectations from us and encourage them to learn from their mistakes and try new things by coming out of their comfort zones because if they will stay in their comfort zones, they will never think of setting new goals for themselves.
