Dr. Akhilesh Kumar Singh has been working as the Dean of Research and Development and Ayurveda Department at SAM Global University, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. He has done Post-doc, PhD, MD, BAMS as part of his academics and has a fabulous 16 years of teaching experience. He has also published more than 56 research papers in International and National Journals of repute and has presented more than 30 research papers in International and National Conferences. Apart from this, he has delivered more than 20 talks in reputed organizations of repute.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

"By being educator, we get a direct chance to contribute in society and nation growth"

Being in the education sector not only helps you to improve your own personality, but helps youths of society to learn and grow on personal and professional levels. In other words, you get an amazing opportunity to educate others, improve their lifestyle and help them create a bright future for themselves. And we have prepared many decoctions during the covid period which eventually helped society during Pandemic and also helped our students to practically apply their knowledge. So the satisfaction which I receive in this field helped me to stay connected with this sector.

Being the Dean of Research and Development at SAM Global, what is your philosophy of leadership?

"Leadership is all about enhancing others skills by providing best opportunities to learn"

Being the Dean of the R&D Department, I believe in the collaborative and independent way of working with my team. Hence I follow the same here in my institute and have given complete independence and autonomy to my Ayurveda faculties and students to think, understand and evaluate the societal issues and come up with the best possible solution and implementation plan that how can we apply the solutions in remote areas of the country as well. In this way, I tend to broaden their horizons of thinking and also always motivate my research scholars to diverge and diversify their thinking dimension. 

How do you strategize the key programs for the marketing and administration of your University?

"We enhance our presence in outside world by bringing best possible solutions for real world issues"

I firmly believe that depending on the type of domain, different thrust areas exist in our society and country as well, like if we talk about health and ayurvedic sector then anemia and malnutrition are the trust areas for the education institutes and country. Therefore, being in the same industry, we tend to bring the best possible noble research, medication and solutions from our manuals to help society and nation. In addition to this, we are also involved in research activities related to Yoga and Therapeutic Science. So, while making any strategy, first we identify the thrust areas, subjects and issues we must prioritize followed by the planning as per our manuals, research text by collaborating with the leads of the scholars and administering them.

In your experience, what benefits students can gain from studying here in your university?

"They will get best opportunities, practical exposure and finest quality Indic knowledge"

As we all know, India is a country where we follow the Gurukul Parampara and our ancient education system holds the strongest roots not only in our country but overseas as well. And with the introduction of National Education Policy, our mission is to implement it in our curriculum as soon as possible and we have inculcated the Indic Knowledge System in our university and have kept it in our carnal, in our core line. Our country drives its own education system in accordance with the needs of its society, culture, climate, agriculture and resources. Therefore, we also design our teaching practices as per requirements of yoga and ayurveda in today's modern society. So, I would ensure that students will get the finest quality Indic knowledge in our college, which is heartily recognized at global level and the world has embraced it as well. 

How is your university more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

"We address their issues and queries on time and promote the ambiance of equality in college"

Our SAM Global considers all its faculty, staff and students as part of their family. And from the day students join us to pursue their dream courses, we treat them as our own children and strive to provide them the best education, facilities and growth opportunities to ensure their overall holistic development. And our teachers are always there to solve students' academic and non-academic issues and queries on time and on an individual basis. And our aim is to preserve and assure a student's journey is worth remembering from admission till placement. Also, we have seen our students spending more time on the campus than in homes.

What do you see as the greatest strengths of your college and what challenges do you see for your college in general?

"Our teaching practices and philosophy is our main strength and less seats in different courses in a hurdle"

In my opinion, the subjects that faculty members of our college teach to students with full dedication is our biggest source of strength. We teach Ayurveda to students by keeping its essence of being authentic and while teaching we try to correlate our student’s mindset with the conditions and culture of that time period when research at ground level was taking place. Because then only the students will grasp the subject in totality and then only they could implement it well in society. And we also provide complete freedom and autonomy to them to experiment with their ideas. And if I talk about challenges, then yes there are different kinds of hurdles which we are facing to improve the education quality of our college and most prominent of them include less no. of seats in courses which we offer to our students. So, students who come a bit late to take admission suffer due to unavailability of seats.

Any suggestions which you would like to give to the current youth and aspiring students?

"Be serious towards your goals and enjoy the learning process while you study concepts"

I would suggest to my dear students and youths of our society to study their course subjects and learn new skills with full enthusiasm and passion. Because the day when you will start enjoying study, that will be your biggest step towards your goals which will ultimately give you a bright future to live. So enjoy the process and keep enhancing your knowledge as well as professional network.
