What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“My zeal for teaching and staying up to date with current affairs are the key factors”

Education is something that has always been one of the most reputable honors given to a person and I have been fortunate enough to be a part of the education system. The things that keep me connected are my zeal for teaching and staying up to date with the current trends in dentistry.

What is your philosophy of leadership?

“Leadership is practiced in attitude and action”

Leadership is practiced not so much in words but as an attitude and in action. I choose to be adaptable and try my best to motivate and inspire those around me by demonstrating empathy, engaging in active listening, and building meaningful work relationships. I try to provide a supportive environment that is conducive to learning. I also try to value and respect the opinions of all that empower them to thrive and transform themselves productively.

What changes do you see in the education sector pre and post-Covid era?

“E-Learning has become the new normal post covid era”

Teaching has been redefined, physical classrooms offer a high degree of interactivity within the teacher and also among them which has been a drawback in COVID times. The hitherto peripheral digital education in India came center stage and is now increasing and being integrated into the mainstream. As E-learning has become the new normal, significant alterations to dental education were implemented through a hybrid of the online classroom and preclinical training as well as clinical education.

What do you think should be the Department’s top priority over the next 5 years?

“To become research-oriented is the topmost priority”

Over the next five years, we see ourselves being more research-oriented, conducting more CDE programs and conventions. Our main drive is to maintain advanced clinical technologies in conjunction with cutting-edge clinical education. We would like to strive for greater knowledge, master skills, and breakthrough technologies that would make endodontics more predictable, safer, and cost-effective.

What is the scope of Endodontics after completing the formal degree?

“It gives them the confidence to deal with dental emergencies”

Endodontics is one of the most booming fields in dentistry today as there has been a shift in focus towards tooth conservation and aesthetics, and professionals specialized in these are needed to treat the same. Being an endodontist gives them the confidence to deal with dental emergencies. They learn to do accurate treatment planning and manage nervous patients with pain more efficiently. They are also able to disabuse the patient of the myth that root canal treatment is a painful and unpleasant procedure. Also, re-treatment, surgical procedures, and dealing with marked variations in every case becomes their forte. Critical thinking, attention to detail, and manual dexterity are all the gems hidden within the endodontist.

What is your approach to making a healthy environment for your students?

Our department offers a welcoming approach to all the students wherein their needs are addressed with utmost care. We focus on growing together, respecting the opinion of our students and fellow faculty, which help in maintaining a fulfilling working environment for all our members.
