Dr. Ashish Vyas is an associate professor at Vyas Dental College and Hospital. He obtained his B.D.S. degree from the College of Dental Sciences, Davangere India in 2004 and M.D.S. degree from Bangalore Institute of Dental Sciences, Bangalore India in 2008 in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is registered as a Dental Surgeon with the Dental Council of India, Government of India, and Life Member Association Of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India. He worked as a senior lecturer in Mathura Das Mathur Hospital Part of Dr. SN Medical. He has also worked as an Assistant professor at Jodhpur Dental College and Hospital. His total year of experience in government hospital is of 3 years and dental college is of 9 years. He has attended several conferences.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the student?

“Providing students with a good standard of education in the field of Oral Surgery”

Heads of the Department are expected to work together with the college educational leadership to ensure high standards of teaching and learning practice and processes.

What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain necessary skills?

“Providing students with various skill enhancing skills and practices”

All kinds of minor surgical procedures are offered to the students of this college under the guidance of staff observation. In major cases hands-on implants patient management all kinds of skills are developed in our department.

What are the challenges you faced to uplift the quality of education of your department?

“We faced a little challenge in updating curriculum”

Since the administration of the college is very helpful and my colleagues are very supportive in all situations so there are very few challenges we face but there are no challenges we cannot manage or overcome.

What are the types of cases that the students are working on through this program?

“Students are working on Extraction, Minor oral Surgeries, Treatment of facial bone fracture, and Treatment of Jaw cyst & Tumors”

Extraction, Minor oral Surgeries, Biopsy Fine needle aspiration cytology, Treatment of facial bone fracture, Treatment of Jaw cyst & Tumors, Treatment of Temporomandibular Disorder, Facial aesthetic surgeries, Treatment of Orthognathic surgery, Dental Implant.

What suggestions would you like to give to current students, who are pursuing their B.D.S?

“Students should follow their field of Interest”

I would like to suggest students who are pursuing BDS that follow your field of interest. try to achieve as much knowledge as you can to gain excellence in your field, be good to patients and do excellent treatment.

What was your vision for college from the start and how are you trying to achieve the same?

“To make my college’s department best in every aspect”

When I joined this college in 2016 I had the vision to make our department the best of all in all ways whether it's treatment or education. I am doing as much as I can with the help of my colleagues and my team. We arrange programs, seminars , webinars , hands-on workshops cde programs, guest lectures, camps , all kinds of stuff we are doing to achieve excellence.

What are some of the challenges you faced working in the field of oral surgery and how did you overcome them?

“Spreading Awareness was the biggest challenge”

initially, it was challenging to make people aware about our field of oral surgery is not only dental it involves other structures of the face that’s why it is called oral and maxillofacial surgery people were not aware of it we have done camps interviews initially it was difficult but slowly and steadily people are getting aware.

What is the latest program you are offering in your department?

“Our Programs help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd”

The latest program we are focusing on nowadays is aesthetic procedures ( hair transplant, prf, PRP, basal implants) and immediate restoration of function for the patient. Patients' satisfaction and good health is our main concern. When you give the best treatment you will stand apart from the crowd.
