Dr. Giriraj T. Kulkarni is a Principal of Gokaraju Rangaraju College of Pharmacy. He did B.Pharm, M.Pharm from Gulbarga University, and Ph.D. from the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University. He has 27 years of total teaching and research experience. He also authored several papers in national and international journals. He is a life member of various organizations like APTI, IPA, IPGA, SPER, SPDS, and SSX. He received several awards include Gold Medal from Gulbarga University in B.Pharm, IDMA (Indian Drug manufacturers Best Paper Award, International Travel Award, and APJ Abdul Kalam Research Thinker Award in 2019.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Provide an integrated learning environment for the growth of pupils”

The campus commits towards quality. Our policy is to provide an integrated learning environment that ensures the potential and growth of students. It helps to meet the high expectations of industry and society. My prime duty is to implement the adherence to quality policy. We strive for the overall development of students in the development of leadership quality, and research orientation inside the campus. This life-long learning makes them good human beings. 


What are your views upon the placements and higher education for students in GRCP?

“Training and placement cell boost the career of pupils”

We had an excellent placement record for many years. The training and placement cell helps the students to get career opportunities. Students get an opportunity to interact with achievers in the industry through alumni lecture series. It develops contacts. Our students are hired by top pharmaceutical companies in Hyderabad and other places in India. Industries are still approaching campus on priority for open positions.


What approaches do you bring apart from the curriculum to train the students?

“Industry mentor, machine room and instrumentation facility available to students”

A typical curriculum consists of industry training, practice school, and projects. The students will have the exposure required for the industry. We have industrial mentors who help students for careers and give successful tips. The campus contains a sophisticated machine room and CPCSEA approved animal experimentation facility. It gives good exposure to the students. Software like Schrodinger, and Autodock is useful in the pharmaceutical of GRCP. 


How do you help students to cope up with the outside competition?

“Guest lectures, industrial training, and visits available for all students”

Students are the forerunners in the competitive world. We help them by developing personalities through expert lectures. They will be industry-ready through exposure to instruments. We regularly organize industry visits, training, research activities, for students. By presenting research papers they will enhance the knowledge and confidence. The students will publish papers in journals to enhance their chances of entering foreign universities for higher studies. These make the students competitive.

GRCP is one of the most sought-after institutions. We had full admissions in the courses in past years. This helps to attract top meritorious students from EAMCET ranking and PGCET for many years.


What extra-curricular activities raise the skills of students to face real-world challenges?

“Club-committee consist of foreign language and civil service provide to all students”

The students get industry requirements through training, practice, and projects in the curriculum. They also get exposed to the instruments used in the industry. We have different club-committee activities for the overall development of students. The foreign language club help students to learn foreign languages and get a certification. Innovative ideas of students will be evaluated by faculty through the innovation club. The last one is Civil Service Club. The volunteering faculty members help students to pass competitive examinations for higher education and career.


What is the average package offered to the student?

“Average package for B. Pharm student is around 1,75,000 and in case of M. Pharm is around 4,20,000”

The campus placement is high in the past years. We provided placements to all the students who opted for the selection process. The students should try their best to understand the concepts. It is necessary to keep updated with clear concepts, and knowledge. This led them to learn new things. These are the qualities needed for a successful career. I like to quote the dialogue, you get success after following your excellence.
