December 09, 2021: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur along with Citi India Bank and Technology Incubator T-Hub have jointly launched a Social Innovation Lab to offer support to startups with unique ideas and solutions.
With the launch of the Social Innovation Lab, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur aims to assist unique startups of the institute who have plans and solutions to solve issues of agriculture, health, and finance sectors.
As per the announcement made on Wednesday, December 08, 2021, Citi stated that startups across the country who are now in the early growing stage can submit their proposals under this initiative in December 2021.
Adding to the highlights of the initiative, Mridula Iyer, Head of Treasury and Trade Solutions, Citi South Asia said, “The collaboration with IIT-Kanpur and T-Hub reaffirms our commitment to economic growth and enabling progress across communities in India by supporting grants towards the incubation and acceleration of innovative startups in key areas - health, agriculture, and financial services”.
In accordance with the statement made, a total of 25 startups will be provided with support, mentoring, and guidance for their business projects. Selected startups will further receive business model development, go-to-market strategies among other opportunities.
Under this initiative, the startups who are selected for the grant will have the opportunity to receive guidance from IIT Kanpur Faculty members and networking and collaboration opportunities from T-Hub’s vast ecosystem.
The grants will only be awarded to those startups who have proven work in the field of agriculture, health, and finance sectors, and have an existing customer base. Startups with potential for scale across the country will be granted various business opportunities.
Earlier, in November 2021, the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur had also collaborated with the Institute of Engineering (IOE) of Nepal's Tribhuvan University (TU) for academic cooperation and growth.
The collaboration was done in order to launch joint activities and student programs for the students of both universities. Furthermore, the partnership will include the exchange of faculty, researchers, and students and research projects.
