NIT Srinagar to Begin Integrated BTech MBA Program From 2023-24 Session

News Delhi: According to NIT Srinagar Director Rakesh Sehgal, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar is preparing to start its integrated BTech-MBA program and introduce new MTech and MSc programs from the academic session 2023-24.

As per NIT Srinagar, the institute will be introducing an MTech program in computer science and engineering and MSc in mathematics with an intake capacity of 30 seats. The courses will be open to all interested candidates who meet the eligibility criteria. 

Earlier, NIT Srinagar launched an MBA program, Master of Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurial Management (MTIEM) Program, MSc Programs in Physics and Chemistry and MTech programs in Power Electronics And Electrical Drives, and Thermal Engineering.

In addition to this, NIT Srinagar has submitted a proposal to revise the tuition fee for its MBA program for the next academic session (Spring 2023). The fee will be revised from INR 2,50,000 to INR 1,00,000 per semester for all students after the approval of the proposal.

The institute has recently received a grant of INR 1.06 Crore from the Department of Science and Technology under the Fund for Improvement of Science and Technology (FIST). The amount will be used to upgrade the overall infrastructure of the institute. 

NIT Srinagar Director shared that the amount will be used for establishing a clean environmental and geotechnical instrumentation center. The institute will also aim to produce a Microwave Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (MP-AES) machine from the FIST grant.

MP-AES is used to detect heavy metals as heavy metal analysis is essential to comprehend the dynamics of subsurface, surface water, and industrial pollution. This machine cost about INR 45 Lakh each, he further added.
