PM Modi Said the Government Will Ensure One PG Medical College in Each District; Check details

During a virtual inauguration of CIPET in Rajasthan on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the government aims at ensuring atleast one postgraduate medical college in each district. 

He said that the government is making considerable efforts to make sure that every district in India has one medical college or an institution for post-graduate medical education. 

He said that a gap in medical education and delivery of health services is being reduced and that the government's main focus is on encouraging ayurveda and yoga and preventive healthcare. 

The virtual ceremony was held to mark the laying of foundation stone for four medical colleges that will be established in Sirohi, Banswara, Dausa, and Hanumangarh districts of Rajasthan. 

Further, PM Modi also inaugurated the CIPET, Institute of Petrochemicals Technology in Rajasthan, where he said that in the past six years, more than 170 medical colleges have been constructed and work on over 100 new medical colleges is currently taking place at a fast pace. 

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also addressed the virtual ceremony, while Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya was present at the virtual event conducted at CIPET in Jaipur. 

According to a PTI report, the government has sanctioned the new medical colleges in the Rajasthan districts under the centrally sponsored scheme for the setting up of new medical colleges attached with district or referral hospitals. 

Moreover, the unreserved, backward, and aspirational districts will be given high priority to set up the medical colleges. 

As per the PTI report, the institute has been designed to be self-sustainable, that will cater to the requirements of the petrochemical and allied industries. At the same time, it will also equip the youngsters to become industry-ready and a skilled technical professional.
