What is the disadvantage of being in BITS Pilani?
Every side has 2 coins and similarly, even a prestigious institute like BITS Pilani has many drawbacks.
- You will be missing the IIT tag which cannot be underestimated. The tag matters a lot and you will realize this later in your career.
- BITS Pilani is a private college and receives no funding from the government. As a result, it charges hefty fees.
- Despite being a number one institute it fails to make its mark in the research world. It is way behind its counterparts like top IITs IISERs, and IISc in research culture.
However, I dont think BITS Pilani has any kind of location advantage. Given its well-facilitated campus and comfortable campus life.
How hard is it to change your branch from automobile to CS/IT after 1 year at UIT RGPV?
There have been a lot of cases when students have changed their branch after the first year. My brother from RGPV did the same when he was pursuing PCT. He changed his branch from PCT to EC.
- Well, the important thing which you should keep in mind before changing the branch is that you should keep an eye on the number of vacant seats offered by the college.
- The students from any branch are allowed to change to any other branch. Such as a student from CS can change his branch to automobile, EX to CS, or PCT to EC.
- The only thing you should take care of is maintaining a good grade, for switching branches.
Thus, you are all free to change the branch if you fit the criteria of changing a branch.

- Mess food- The food is very good over there. Contrary to popular belief, you won’t face any problems regarding the food served.
- Location- Tripura is a very peaceful state, and the campus offers a nurturing environment.
- Surroundings- You’ll get fresh air, lots of open space, and good weather conditions at NIT Agartala.
- Infrastructure- The college infrastructure is at par with top IITs and NITs. The hostels are filled with all facilities. Aryabhatta Hostel and Rabindranath Tagore Hostel are top-notch in terms of infrastructure.
- Innovation Incubation Centre- ISRO built an innovation incubation centre at NIT Agartala. This has given the students an opportunity to work with the world’s leading space agency.
- Equipment- The college has advanced equipment like EM, AFM, SEM, FESEM, XRD, Supercomputer, etc. It is difficult to access such machines, even at top institutions like BARC Mumbai and IIT Delhi.
NIT Agartala is probably underrated because people assume that its location and eating habits are very different. It is assumed that Tripura is inaccessible, and suffers communal riots. But all of these assumptions are baseless.
