What is the disadvantage of being in BITS Pilani?

NB
Nishchay Bhalla Posted On : June 27th, 2023
studied at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (2018)

Every side has 2 coins and similarly, even a prestigious institute like BITS Pilani has many drawbacks.

  • You will be missing the IIT tag which cannot be underestimated. The tag matters a lot and you will realize this later in your career.
  • BITS Pilani is a private college and receives no funding from the government. As a result, it charges hefty fees.
  • Despite being a number one institute it fails to make its mark in the research world. It is way behind its counterparts like top IITs IISERs, and IISc in research culture.

However, I dont think BITS Pilani has any kind of location advantage. Given its well-facilitated campus and comfortable campus life.

How hard is it to change your branch from automobile to CS/IT after 1 year at UIT RGPV?

JG
Joy Goswami Posted On : August 20th, 2021
Studied Electronics and Communication Engineering at University Institute of Technology, RGPV (2019)

There have been a lot of cases when students have changed their branch after the first year. My brother from RGPV did the same when he was pursuing PCT. He changed his branch from PCT to EC.

  • Well, the important thing which you should keep in mind before changing the branch is that you should keep an eye on the number of vacant seats offered by the college.
  • The students from any branch are allowed to change to any other branch. Such as a student from CS can change his branch to automobile, EX to CS, or PCT to EC.
  • The only thing you should take care of is maintaining a good grade, for switching branches.

Thus, you are all free to change the branch if you fit the criteria of changing a branch.

How much can you score in an IGNOU degree?

SM
Sharda Mishra Posted On : October 13th, 2022
MA from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

It is not just overstated that scoring in IGNOU is difficult; it is true.

IGNOU exams are difficult to pass; they are not like private engineering college exams.

If you are strategic, you can succeed in IGNOU. If you study hard, you might not get anything.

Here is a checklist to help you prepare for your IGNOU exams:

  •  Download exam papers from the previous ten years for both summer and winter sessions.

  • If possible, download the assignments as well.

  • Now, for each block, count how many times a question from it was asked.

  • Determine which blocks are never or only once every 4-6 years.

  • There will be approximately four such blocks that will undoubtedly be questioned at all times.

  • Every two or three years, there will be 2-3 such blocks included. With the remaining blocks, these 2-3 blocks will now have optional questions. Begin by thoroughly preparing for the first four sure-shot blocks.

  • Then prepare the other 2-3; if you prepare these well, you can skip even touching the optional.

Now, here's how you should approach the exam:

In IGNOU, there is a rule that they believe they have created. The rule is that your 20-point answer should be 6-7 pages long.

How to Write a 6-7 Page Long Answer:

Writing a 7-page long answer and attempting 5 such answers in 3 hours is extremely difficult. Neither memory nor creativity would have that much content to offer. As a result, you can draw a margin on the right side of the sheet throughout. This can be as thick as 2.5 inches. It serves two purposes: it reduces the page width and it gives the evaluator enough room to place the marks and total easily. Also, divide your responses into sections:

  • Introduction

  • Body

  • Body subheadings

  • Conclusion

Highlight important ideas to catch the evaluator's attention. Be direct, specific, and accurate.

Why is NIT Agartala so underrated?

PS
Prerona Sarkar Posted On : September 18th, 2023
B.Tech in EE from National Institute of Technology, Agartala (2018)

Upon joining NIT Agartala, I had a completely different experience from what I expected-

  • Accessibility- NIT Agartala is easily accessible. There are flights to Tripura, with discount rates too. There is also a direct train from Tripura to New Delhi. You won’t face any connectivity issues.
  • Mess food- The food is very good over there. Contrary to popular belief, you won’t face any problems regarding the food served.
  • Location- Tripura is a very peaceful state, and the campus offers a nurturing environment.
  • Surroundings- You’ll get fresh air, lots of open space, and good weather conditions at NIT Agartala.
  • Infrastructure- The college infrastructure is at par with top IITs and NITs. The hostels are filled with all facilities. Aryabhatta Hostel and Rabindranath Tagore Hostel are top-notch in terms of infrastructure.
  • Innovation Incubation Centre- ISRO built an innovation incubation centre at NIT Agartala. This has given the students an opportunity to work with the world’s leading space agency.
  • Equipment- The college has advanced equipment like EM, AFM, SEM, FESEM, XRD, Supercomputer, etc. It is difficult to access such machines, even at top institutions like BARC Mumbai and IIT Delhi.

NIT Agartala is probably underrated because people assume that its location and eating habits are very different. It is assumed that Tripura is inaccessible, and suffers communal riots. But all of these assumptions are baseless.

NIT Agartala is a really good engineering college. It deserves much more praise and recognition. I owe all my success to this wonderful institution.

What is the value of a weekend MBA at IIM Bangalore when compared to a full time MBA?

SG
Shruti Gupta Posted On : May 18th, 2022
studied at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore

The weekend MBA from IIM Bangalore can help you enhance your career. Be it weekend or fulltime doing an MBA from IIM Bangalore is a huge feat. You can benefit a lot from the brand value of the institute.

The weekend MBA is designed for working professionals. If you can do self-learning without any supervision, this can be a good opportunity. But peer-to-peer learning is limited for this course.

The coursework will be heavy. It will keep you busy throughout the week as well as the weekend. If you have a full-time job, you need to learn to balance things and utilize your time efficiently. You will learn through class presentations, mini-projects, quizzes, book reports, etc. You will have access to the library, and computer labs. There are no placements, but you can find jobs through networking.
