LPUNEST or LPU National Entrance and Scholarship Test is the university-level entrance exam conducted by the LPU to select students for its various courses. I found the exam to be moderately difficult. Its difficulty is not considered to be very tough but, some students may find it difficult based on their preparation and knowledge.
It is a computer-based exam consisting of questions from physics, chemistry, mathematics/biology and English. Each section has 25 questions with no negative marking. Candidates are given 150 minutes to attempt the MCQs and fill in the blank questions. Questions are based on the previous qualification so my advice will be to have a thorough understanding of the concepts.
Preparation tips that you can follow are.
The online MBA program at LPU has become very popular and has exceeded expectations due to its strong faculty, industry connections and excellent placement records. The university provides a unique Personal Contact Program to its online students to attend pre-scheduled classes and check whether they fit in.
Admission to LPU’s online MBA program is pretty straightforward.
Firstly, candidates should ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria which is generally a bachelor’s degree in any discipline. CS from ICSI, CA from ICAI or CMA from ICAI are also eligible to apply.
Once eligible, candidates have to register on the official website and pay the INR 600 registration fee. The next step is filling out the application form, submitting the necessary documents, and paying the program fee. Once the application is submitted, they have to wait for the document verification done by the university. After the documents are verified, candidates will receive LMS credentials over the email which they will use to access the online MBA classes.
Both IIM Sirmaur and GLIM Chennai are good colleges. However, they have lots of differences as well. Let's have a comparison between IIM Sirmaur and GLIM Chennai on various parameters
Parameters | Winner |
---|---|
Brand Value | IIM Sirmaur is a clear winner here. The brand value of an IIM is better than most private MBA colleges in India. |
Ease of Admission | It is difficult to get into an IIM as compared to GLIM Chennai. The cutoff for GLIM Chennai usually remains lower as compared to IIM Sirmaur (CAP Cutoff). This makes GLIM Chennai a winner here. |
Return on Investment | Both IIM Sirmaur and GLIM Chennai have an average CTC of close to 14.5 LPA but the fees of GLIM Chennai is around 3.5 lacs more than that of IIM Sirmaur making the ROI of GLIM Chennai relatively bad. IIM Sirmaur is a winner here again. |
Alumni Strength | GLIM Chennai started in 2004 while IIM Sirmaur started in 2015. The Alumni strength of GLIM Chennai is better, however since the gap between these two colleges is just 11 years, in no time IIM Sirmaur will catch up both in terms of Alumni Strength and quality. |
Flexibility | GLIM offers more flexibility as it has its 1 year Executive MBA which currently IIM Sirmaur lacks. GLIM can be a better option for aspirants who don't want to invest 2 years on an MBA. |
GLIM can look like a better option considering above points, but the fact that IIM Sirmaur despite starting 11 years late has managed to give better ROI and similar average CTC makes IIM Sirmaur a better option (assuming similar rate of growth continues for IIM Sirmaur)
As an assistant professor at LPU, I can confirm that there are many physical education courses at LPU. It is the top physical education college in Punjab and offers courses that are NCTE-approved. Candidates looking for admission to physical education courses at LPU are required to clear the LPUPET test.
LPUPET stands for Lovely Professional University Physical Efficiency Test. It tests candidates on many physical attributes to provide admission. Students clearing the LPUPET can be admitted to physical education courses.
Physical education courses are offered at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels. B.P.Ed and M.P.Ed are some of the most pursued physical education courses at LPU. Whether candidates can take admission based on merit is not mentioned on the official website of the LPU. You should check with the admission cell to confirm if there are any admissions in physical education courses based on merit.
LPU used to provide admission to BTech courses based on the JEE Main exam. It stopped accepting JEE Main as of May 2024 and completely shifted to LPUNEST. LPUNEST is the university entrance exam conducted by LPU to provide admission to its various courses.
Candidates are required to have 60% marks in class 12 in the combined physics, chemistry and mathematics/biology sections. They must then qualify for the LPUNEST exam and appear in the counselling process.
Candidates can use their JEE Main score to secure scholarships at LPU. The university offers attractive scholarships to students with 80% marks or more in the JEE Main exam.
Temporary Campus: The campus is situated in the Paonta Sahib City as it is just 2.5 Kms away from the nearest bus stand. The nearest Railway stations are Dehradun and Yamuna Nagar Railway stations which are around 45 Kms and 60 Kms respectively. The nearest Airports are the Chandigarh Airport and Dehradun Airport which are 122 km and 77 km away from the campus.
Permanent Campus: The Campus is located in Dhaula Kuan and is 19 kms away from the Paonta Sahib Bus Stand and 26 kms away from the Nahan Bus Stand. The nearest Railway station is Yamuna Nagar Railway Station 59 kms away and the nearest Airports are the Chandigarh Airport and Dehradun Airport which are 102 kms and 94 kms away from the Institute.
Since it operates from its temporary campus where the hostel facilities are outside the campus for boys, the institute does not promise the same level of rigor one expects from an IIM. The scope of surprise quizzes and assignments and preponement of deadlines is very less because of the lack of necessary facilities provided by the institute. However, on the bright side, this story is expected to change once IIM Sirmaur shifts its operations to the newly built permanent campus.
My Profile: Fresher, 9/8/8 Academics, Graduation in Computer Application.
There were two panelists and one of them was from a tech background. My interview started with a question about my introduction. Since I was a BCA graduate, my follow up questions were mostly like: Why is python widely used in the companies? Why do companies prefer Python over JAVA and C++? What is a List and a Queue? Basically, if you are a fresher, you should be well versed with the syllabus of your graduation. Later, I belonged to Jalandhar, so the rest of my questions were: Give me one USP of Jalandhar? What is Jalandhar famous for? Few of the most prominent questions asked to me were: Why MBA after BCA? Why not MCA?
So, I suggest all the students should at least prepare their syllabus from the graduation, thoroughly research about their city, state and about their interests, and must be very clear with the goals for pursuing an MBA.
At IIM Sirmaur and for that matter, in most IIMs, a following sample structure of grading is followed: -
Component | Marks |
---|---|
End Term | 25 |
Mid Term | 15 |
Group Projects | 30 |
Assignments/Quizzes | 20 |
Class Participation | 10 |
Total | 100 |
Please note that the marking scheme varies from faculty to faculty but the above mentioned components are the most used components used by the faculties to award marks to the students. Sometimes, when more than one faculty member teaches a course, the marking scheme splits into two or three and individual professors will have an individual marking scheme with the respect to the total marks bifurcated between the faculty members.
