How many hours does one have to devote to study in IIIT Delhi?

AD
Arohi Dasgupta Posted On : October 7th, 2023
studied at Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi

On average, a student at IIIT Delhi needs around 59 hours per week to study and get decent marks. On campus, they are expected to devote 24 hours per week to their academics which is roughly 5 hours a day.

  • Here the schedule is quite hectic. Every course you take has 3 hours of lectures a week and you have to choose 5 such courses a semester. This equals 15 hours/week of lectures.
  • In the 1st 2 years, 2-3 courses have labs and tutorials which are both 1.5 hours a week. Even if all 3 courses have both these the duration will be 9 hours/week of practicals and tutorials.
  • The remaining time is 26 hours/week with less than 4 hours a day. Moreover, you will be spending 6 hrs a week on assignment completion/quiz preparation. So almost 18 hours a week will be devoted to that.
  • The remaining 8 hours/week will be spent either on projects.

Such a tight schedule might be overwhelming initially but the pressure decreases as the semesters pass.

What should I choose between CSD at IIIT Delhi and IT at DTU?

Sabeer Chalana Posted On : October 9th, 2023

CSD and IT have practically the same core subjects. You’ll have a similar curriculum in either of the options. Unless you have a strong interest in the design aspect of CSD, the choice is mainly between the two colleges.

IIITD is very research-oriented. It has state-of-the-art research labs and facilities. You’ll be exposed to dedicated and active research groups over there. Academics are taken quite seriously. You’ll study your subjects in depth for the next 4-5 years.

At DTU on the other hand, academics are very laid back. You’ll get lots of time for extracurriculars. You can polish your skills in the area of your interest.

If you are sure to build a future in Computer Science, join IIIT Delhi. But if you wish to explore yourself, and polish your skills in some other field, join DTU.

It is good to have a comparison of both institutes before making a final decision.

Faculty – The faculties at IIT Delhi are way better than BIT Mesra. At IIT Delhi, the faculties are highly passionate about their careers and well qualified, which is highly reflected in the success of the institute. They have a strong inclination toward research, and students are satisfied with their academic support. The condition of students in BIT Mesra is relatively poor, as the teachers are rude and do not provide appropriate guidance to their students.

Which one should be chosen, a CS/IT at NIT Kurukshetra or an ECE at IIIT Delhi?

Sayantani Barman Posted On : October 19th, 2023

IIT Delhi is the best option because it is the fastest-growing institute and is efficient at offering quality education to students. They are implausible on the tech side, so if you are passionate about becoming a techie, opt for IIT Delhi. They also ensure good campus life, well-qualified faculties, and infrastructure facilities for the students

So, IIT Delhi would be a better pick, especially for the CSE or ECE branch.
