What is the value of a weekend MBA at IIM Bangalore when compared to a full time MBA?

SG
Shruti Gupta Posted On : May 18th, 2022
studied at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore

The weekend MBA from IIM Bangalore can help you enhance your career. Be it weekend or fulltime doing an MBA from IIM Bangalore is a huge feat. You can benefit a lot from the brand value of the institute.

The weekend MBA is designed for working professionals. If you can do self-learning without any supervision, this can be a good opportunity. But peer-to-peer learning is limited for this course.

The coursework will be heavy. It will keep you busy throughout the week as well as the weekend. If you have a full-time job, you need to learn to balance things and utilize your time efficiently. You will learn through class presentations, mini-projects, quizzes, book reports, etc. You will have access to the library, and computer labs. There are no placements, but you can find jobs through networking.

How good is PSG Institute of Management for an MBA? What is the latest placement data?

DG
Damini Ghose Posted On : June 19th, 2021
MBA, PSG Institute of Management (2018)

PSG Institute of Management is a good college for pursuing an MBA if you want to give yourself a platform to showcase your skills and learn a few new skills during the education process. The college will definitely encourage you to pursue your career goals. However, if you compare it to other B-schools located in Delhi, Mumbai or Bangalore it has a less diverse peer group.

Higher Studies:

The college also offers a separate course to the students who are willing to continue their higher studies in this field after graduation in some foreign university in USA or Canada or Germany etc. The college does not reveal the placement data.

Placements:

I have a friend who is an alumnus of the institute, according to him the average CTC offered at the institute is 4 LPA and the highest goes up to around 11 LPA. The placement average for his batch (2016-17) was around 90-95%. Some of them got double offers as well. Sales roles are the most common role which is offered to students here.

Finally what is your expectation from the institute is what defines if the college is good for you or not. Overall it is a good institute when compared to other management colleges affiliated with Anna University.

PGDM from Pune Institute of Business Management (2020)

One of my seniors from school recently graduated from PIBM. Here is his insight on the institute.

  • The PGDM course curriculum at PIBM has been designed as per the industry standards.
  • Various types of training sessions like Certifications like SAP, SIX SIGMA, and MS Certification; Mentorship Programs; Employability Development Courses by EEP and NSDC, and more are conducted.
  • Apart from Marketing, Finance, and HR the other specializations offered by the institute are Applied Business Analytics, Strategic Digital Marketing, IT & ITES, and Operations.
  • The placement has been good even in the midst of Covid-pandemic. Most of the students have been placed in Deloitte, e-Clex, Cians, Dabur, Xanadu Realty, Reckitt Benckiser, TIAA, CITCO, DRE Homes, etc.
  • The highest CTC was INR 15-17 LPA and the average CTC is around INR 6.5-7 LPA.

Honestly speaking, it might be very difficult to secure admission in the aforementioned B Schools with low academic scores. However, these are not the only B schools in India providing excellent Management education. These B Schools require a decent academic background with a good CAT score. The list is as follows

  • S. P. Jain Institute of Management & Research
  • National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli
  • Lovely Professional University
  • Great Lakes Institute of Management
  • Vellore Institute of Technology
  • Nirma University
  • PSG College of Technology
  • Fore School of Management
  • SVKM's Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies
  • Birla Institute of Management Technology
  • Banaras Hindu University

Please bear in mind that getting admission to any BSchool depends on your individual profiles and not on the policies of the institute.

TC
Tanuj Chandra Posted On : February 16th, 2023
Works at UBS

IMT Ghaziabad consistently ranks amongst the top 20 MBA colleges in the country. In terms of exposure, you will have the opportunity to interact with good visiting faculty and your batchmates will be people who have ranked amongst the top percentile in CAT. The college also has a vibrant campus life with lots of extra-curricular activities. However, like all private-funded colleges, there are certain seats allotted to the management quota.

When considering attending IMT Ghaziabad, it is important to consider your career goals. If you are looking for a pure finance role (PGDM) in front-end Investment banking or PE, IMT Ghaziabad may not be the best fit, as core finance roles are limited. However, there are opportunities for corporate finance jobs and banks visit campus for recruitment.

Is the Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS) Rohini a good college for PGDM?

AM
Ankit Mishra Posted On : May 30th, 2022
PGDM Marketing Management & Operations Management, Jagan Institute of Management Studies (2017)

JIMS Rohini isn’t a good option for management studies. There are many other better management institutes in the Delhi NCR region such as IMI Delhi, BIMTECH, and Jaipuria Institute of Management.

JIMS has a good infrastructure. Due to the locational advantages, you will also get good exposure to industries in Delhi NCR. According to JIMS Rohini placements 2022, the average CTC offered to the students is around INR 7.5 LPA.

In recent day’s globalization and the extremely advanced business environment, business organizations worldwide face several uncertainties. It is important for the business's survival, employee motivation, and worldwide development to retain a highly competitive and diverse marketplace.

MBA - HRM at XIMB:

The program helps you with vigorous training in HRM theories and practical knowledge. It successfully builds a holistic business perception in student’s minds with positive business principles and social understanding.

  • The course is intended to extend highly experienced HR professionals.
  • It imparts the skill, knowledge, and experiences that are indispensable to direct an organization’s HR department.
  • This program offers in the disciplines of OB (Organisational Behaviour), HRM (Human Resource Management), and IR (Industrial Relations).
  • Students from other study backgrounds like Marketing, Strategic Management, Operations, Economics, Accounting and Finance, Information Systems, and Business Ethics can study.

Academics

  • The course is covered within six-term with three months duration for each. Thus, the academic year consists of 3 terms in this institute.
  • The first term starts in June and ends in September. The second term begins in September and lasts up to December, and the third term duration is from December to March.
  • This program includes 16 class sessions in a week, with 90 minutes duration for each program. Thus, the pupil’s workload, such as term papers, readings, projects, field visits, and classroom sessions, is expected to entail roughly 70 hours in a week.

Thus, if you are a fresher and scored 55% in graduation with XAT /GMAT//CAT/X-GMT/ NMAT scores, then it is suggested not to waste another year. Don’t wait for another try because the selection process is entirely done on the basis of your performances in XAT /GMAT//CAT/X-GMT/ NMAT. The college administration also takes a writing test, group discussion followed by a personal interview session, so be well-prepared without wasting time.
