Does a CFA degree help in summer and final placements at IIM Ahmedabad/Calcutta for top banking firms?

AM
Antara Mukherjee Posted On : December 1st, 2022
PGP Placement Coordinator, IIM Calcutta , 2014-2015

Yes, the CFA degree will very likely fetch you a decent package at IIM Ahmedabad or Calcutta. This is because companies prefer their interns and analysts to be well versed in subjects from finance and economics. CFA charter is an easy way to ensure that eligibility requirement.

Some organisations conduct prior interactions with the would-be interns before the actual interview. Here, junior executives interact with the future interns and offer pre placement offers.

So this degree will help you get the interview call but the rest depends on your performance in the interview. CFA degree is definitely a game-changer.

What is the benefit of doing executive programme in business management from IIM Calcutta with 5 years work experience as manager accounts in a manufacturing industry?

KR
Komal Rane Posted On : December 1st, 2022
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta

If you are working in a company with great turnover and managing a leadership role, this programme is of little benefit to you. But if you want to open your own start-up and are willing to learn the know-how of business management and leadership skills this course welcomes you. Some major benefits of the course are:

  • Many companies sponsor for you and are willing to take you back after the course

  • This programme should be undertaken with long term benefits in mind. You should be confident that broadening your horizons will definitely pay you back one day later or sooner.

  • For people who are always willing to learn more and more it’s the perfect course. It’s a tightly packed one year programme

But every coin has two sides. As much as this course is beneficial in the long run it has its own drawbacks. Some drawbacks you should definitely know are:

  • People who have lost their touch in academics will not be able to cope with the tight scheduled course

  • The placement opportunities are rare around 10-20% of the entire batch

  • People who are low on budget tend to take educational loans which are not worth this course.

So this course has its benefits but they are long term and one needs patience to uncover them.

How much does an IIM Ahmedabad pass out earn after 12 years of passing out?

GG

IIM Ahmedabad easily ensures a high salary. One of my cousin's brothers was an IIM Ahmedabad pass out. Today he is working abroad for Amazon and earns around 1.8 crore.

Another friend, an IIM Ahmedabad pass out, is making 26 LPA. He was nowhere near 20% or 30% of the batch, neither in academics nor in terms of campus replacement figures.

So we can safely assume that even without much shifting of jobs, an IIM Ahmedabad passout would reach the 1 crore easily.

Does one get front-end investment banking roles immediately after finishing a PGP in IIM Kozhikode?

AS
Abhinav Saini Posted On : November 14th, 2022
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (Graduated 2019)

The chances of one getting front m-end investment bank roles just after finishing a PGM in IIM Kozhikode are extremely low

This is because IIM Kozhikode has little to offer in the finance field as compared to A,B and C. The total financial roles available might be around 5% of the entire batch. There are some international opportunities in Indonesia, Africa etc.

IIM Kozhikode has amazing opportunities in mid-office level jobs. You can work here, get experience and then switch to the front-end.

The conclusion is that if you want to get a front end role right after PGP then go for A,B or C. But if you are open to learning different fields then IIM Kozhikode is the best option.

What are the career prospects after doing M.Com from IGNOU? Will I be eligible for lecturership after it?

AG
Arpita Goyal Posted On : November 3rd, 2022
Studied Physics at University of Calcutta

After earning your Mcom from Ignou, you can pursue a career as a lecturer. However, you must also pass the NET exam to be eligible for a lectureship.

Whether you get your M.com from a distance learning institute like IGNOU or a traditional college makes no difference. You are still eligible to take NET. State-level exams are an alternative to the NET. Every state has its own set of exams. Passing a state exam qualifies you for lectureships only in that state. To be eligible to become a lecturer anywhere in the country, you must give the NET. Most people would instead pass state-level exams and work as a lecturer in their state. They apply for NET after gaining experience in their field.

Is there anyone working in IT after doing BCA MCA from IGNOU?

KL
Karishma Luthra Posted On : October 21st, 2022
M.C.A. in Computers, Master of Science in Computer Science

Many people work in top MNCs after completing BCA/MCA from IGNOU and are earning competitive salaries with other professionals who have completed B.Tech/MBA from traditional colleges. Getting a good job and a good package is dependent on how skilled you are and how well you can justify your competency in an interview. Even though many companies do not hire people with degrees from IGNOU or other distance-learning universities, there are many who do, based on their ability.

The conclusion is that pursuing a degree course through IGNOU should not be your first choice if you are capable of obtaining an education from a good college.

People pursue their education through IGNOU due to personal reasons that prevent them from enrolling in a top engineering college. IGNOU's mission is to make education accessible to all, and for those who, for whatever reason, are unable to travel to study, IGNOU provides quality education in their home city.

How good is a 7.82 SGPA in DU?

PG
Priyanshi Grover Posted On : October 7th, 2022
Bsc chem h from University of Delhi

It is up to you where you want your SGPA to be considered, and 7.82 SGPA, when combined with your other semester SGPA average, becomes CGPA only, which is converted to a percentage by multiplying it by 9.5, so 7.82 equals 74.29%.

If you want to apply for government jobs, you only need to have more than 60%. If you want to continue your education, it is up to the university; some will consider your graduation grade as an admission criterion.

If you want to take the CAT, for example, your graduation grade is very important. 7.82 is excellent if you come from an artistic background. If you come from a business background, 7.82 is fine. If you come from an artistic family, you should raise your score.

Simply put, 85% means that 9.0 SGPA in a Science course is equivalent to 75% in an Arts course.
