Having some friends studying in these institutes, I can say that as per what they mentioned, NIT Patna arrives with a better placement rate than the other two counterparts.
Categories | Mechanical at NIT Silchar | Mechanical at NIT Patna | Mechanical at NIT Goa |
Course Fee | 5.42 lakh | 5.70 lakh | 5.38 lakh |
Highest CTC | 21 LPA | 12-14 LPA | 11 LPA |
Average CTC | 7.25 LPA | 6-7 LPA | 6 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Wipro, TCS, Infosys, L&T, etc. | GE, L&T, Tata Motors, Alston, etc. | Bosch, Capgemini, HP, IBM, etc. |
But, apart from the factors mentioned above, NIT Silchar is several steps ahead because it has established one of the best campuses, unlike many. That is the only brownie point NIT Silchar enjoys. It is best if you still research vividly about the prospects implanted in either institutes, and see what suits you best.
I would say choosing 5 years dual degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar is a better option than BITS Pilani for electronics and instrumentation.
A few cousins of mine have completed their B.Tech from VIT Vellore with different branches. With them being successfully placed, their experience says you must choose VIT among both of these. Here’s why:
Categories |
Mechanical at VIT Vellore |
Mechanical at PEC Chandigarh |
Course Fee |
7.83 lakhs |
6.39 lakhs |
Placement Percentage |
80-90% |
70% |
Highest CTC |
9-12 LPA |
15 LPA |
Average CTC |
5-6 LPA |
6.5 LPA |
Recruiting Companies |
Accenture, Goldman Sachs, Wipro, Infosys, etc. |
JP Morgan, MySQL, HPCL, Tata, etc. |
In the end, it is best recommended to choose VIT Vellore for Mechanical engineering as it offers better exposure and opportunities. However, PEC is also a good college and its fee structure is quite nominal as compared to VIT. In case of budget constraints, go for PEC.
Choosing between NIT Patna in ECE and PEC Chandigarh in Mechanical Engineering can be a difficult decision. It depends on your interests, career goals, and personal preferences. Here are some factors to consider that can help you make an informed decision:

IIT Dhanbad is one of the oldest institutions to offer a degree program in Mining. The program is nearly 90 years old and has the most experienced faculty members. IIT Bhilai on the other hand is a fairly new institute.
Here is a brief overview of the two branches mentioned in the question.

The Mining branch has a great placement record at IIT Dhanbad.
Therefore, based on the given institutions IIT Dhanbad for Mining is the better alternative.
As some of my friends studied at LNCT Bhopal, I can say that the mechanical engineering course offered by them is pretty good.
Categories | Mechanical Engineering at LNCT Bhopal |
Course Fee | 4.70 lakh |
Placement Percentage | 75-80% |
Highest CTC | 19.5 LPA |
Average CTC | 8-10 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Reliance, Ashok Leyland, L&T, Trident, etc. |
The college campus has a pretty good infrastructure and is student-friendly. This in my opinion would work for the overall development of the enrolled students at the institute and in getting hired by reputed organizations.
Yes, CGC Landran is a good choice but there is no other college to compare with.
Categories |
Mechanical at CGC Landran |
Course Fee |
3.62 lakhs |
Placement Percentage |
80-90% |
Highest CTC |
32 LPA |
Average CTC |
4 LPA |
Recruiting Companies |
Accenture, Cisco, Wipro, Dell, etc. |
Lastly, it depends upon the student’s interest and choice to opt for CGC Landran.
First of all, IIT Kanpur does not offer Biotechnology, rather it offers Biological Sciences and Bioengineering. This is a good choice for those who don’t have any specific interests and are ready to study biology. In IIT Kanpur your CPI values much more than your branch. So don’t waste too much time deciding on one and just go for any of it.
Placements: IIT Kanpur has both core and noncore jobs in abundance. Core jobs are a bit lesser than non-core jobs with only a handful of core companies. However, the majority of recruiters offer non-core jobs for which the only requirement is a good CPI. Here, your branch does not matter and the role offered is nothing related to your branch. To a certain extent, non-core packages offered are better than core packages so most students prefer this.
Curriculum: The ocean of electives available to choose from at IIT Kanpur, makes it possible for students to explore much more than their branch. You are also eligible to do a major or minor in any other branch provided you fulfill its minimum CPI criteria. IIT Kanpur also has a branch change faculty at the end of the first year. All this flexibility makes IIT Kanpur’s curriculum a much coveted one.
Lastly, I would like to comment that your choice of Institute is also crucial. The opportunities and exposure offered matter a lot and IIT Kanpur offers it all!
Chandigarh University is a well-established university. According to some of my friends studying there, it is well known for its amazing placement statistics in the fields of Engineering, management, marketing, and many more.
Automobile Engineering at Chandigarh University
Categories | Automobile Engineering at Chandigarh University |
Course Fee | 6.44 lakh |
Placement Percentage | 70% |
Highest CTC | 9-10 LPA |
Average CTC | 6-7 LPA |
Other than campus placements, many students also opt for off-campus placement through internships and other recruitment drives. Thus, the placement package depends on various factors including the student.
Mechanical Engineering is an evergreen branch and considering the placement rate of LNCT, which is 75-80%, it hardly provides any placements to the mechanical branch students. It means the mechanical branch students don't have the core placements.
In the year 2020, there were 3-4 companies that came to the campus for the core placements and took a very less number of students. Therefore, there are very few placement opportunities for a mechanical branch student in LNCT Bhopal.
There are either no core placements or else the Institute will ask students to apply for the marketing companies and get a placement in that domain.
But then, if a student is good with the skill set and has good abilities, prepare for the exams like GATE, ONGC. It will help him/her in the future.
