Which should I choose, fire and safety engineering or CSE in SOE of CUSAT?

Namrata Das Posted On : August 9th, 2023
For a safe and secure future, a good salary package and an easier job, I would suggest you choose Fire and Safety Engineering at SOE, CUSAT. On the other hand, if you are confident about your programming skills and knowledge, wish for a career in IT, and would be satisfied with a comparatively lower salary (probably), choose the CSE course at SOE, CUSAT. In Safety, the job profiles are less demanding and the competition is not as high as in CSE. CSE jobs are purely merit-based. To get into Amazon, Snapdeal, etc. with high packages of 11–14 LPA and above, you need to be very skilled and hardworking. Curriculum-wise, Safety is a lot easier and contains the basics of the branches- CE, ME, EEE & EC. Therefore, based on your personal preferences, choose your stream wisely. Both CSE and Safety at SOE, CUSAT are good courses.

Dibrugarh University isn’t a good option for CSE. The academics aren’t good. The campus doesn’t have an active coding culture. Dibrugarh University placements aren’t good. Only 5% of the students get placed. During the recent campus drive, the median CTC offered was INR 3.28 LPA. Career opportunities and exposure offered are limited.

Which one should I choose for CSE, BITS Pilani, NIT Trichy or ISM Dhanbad?

Sabeer Chalana Posted On : July 7th, 2023

It is always better not to choose IIT Patna if you are looking for a good academic life. As we know, IIT Patna is one of the leading institutes in advancement and infrastructure, but they are weak in academics, good faculty, and placement support. Here are some points that substantiate my statement about IIT Patna

Faculty – IIT Patna has only less qualified faculties who do not have sufficient knowledge about the subjects and are not interested in teaching. Other IITs have far better faculties when compared with Patna

Placement Support – IIT Patna is not up to the mark when it comes to placement support. Only 40% of students get placement here, and it varies based on the batches.

Other Branches – They are more struggling than the students from the CSE department as they are not satisfied with the internship programs and only a few got placement

So it is better to choose other IITs, BITS, or NITs for CSE other than IIT Patna.

When will the classes start for 1st year B Tech in NIT Raipur?

NT
Nilesh Tiwari Posted On : April 15th, 2021
B.tech in Electrical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Raipur, 2020

The administration of the institute does not make this decision.

This decision as to when the classes of the first year can commence is taken by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JOSAA) which is in charge of the admission process. The institute can make the decision from the second year onwards.

Generally, the classes will start a week after all the counseling rounds have been concluded. They usually begin at the end of July. The classes for the first year in the NITs start together.

It would be preferable if you come one or two days prior to the beginning of the classes to get acquainted. That is if you are planning to live in the hostel.

How difficult is it to get a branch change in IIT Mandi to CSE? How many hours of study is sufficient?

SD
Sree Dasgupta Posted On : May 24th, 2023
studied Computer Science at Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi

The difficulty of getting a branch change in IIT Mandi to CSE depends on various factors like the current demand for the CSE program and the availability of spots in the program. The branch upgradation policy at IIT Mandi is very easy making it highly possible to get a branch change to CSE if you start working from the beginning. All you need to do is maintain a stable CGPA around 9. The 50 % branch change criteria make it easy for everyone to get a branch change. The increasing batch-size changes the cutoff every year but to play safe, maintain a 9+ CGPA. You will be surprised to know that some even get to join CSE with a CGPA of 8.6+.

The number of study hours required to get a branch change depends on the individual, his intellect, and his learning style. The general rule of thumb is to study at least 3 hours per day for undergraduate courses.

All you need to do is be consistent with your studies and attend classes regularly. So, it totally depends on what works for you.

Which college is best among NIT Delhi, NIT Kurukshetra, and SVNIT Surat for CSE if my residence is in Delhi NCR?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : September 2nd, 2023

You need to consider several factors before deciding the best college for yourself. Here are a few factors and the preferred choice if you give preference to that factor alone

  1. Alumni : The age of the institute determines how strong the alumni network is which is very crucial for the development of the institute. In terms of the alumni network the preference order should be NIT Jaipur=NIT Kurukshetra> NIT Delhi
  2. Placements: The placement scenario is somewhat similar in all the aforementioned institutes. However, NIT Delhi has a slight advantage being in Delhi. The order should be NIT Delhi > NIT Jaipur = NIT Kurukshetra
  3. Faculty: In my opinion, NIT Delhi has the best professors.
  4. Campus : NIT Kurukshetra and NIT Jaipur have equally beautiful campuses whereas the permanent campus of NIT Delhi is under construction.

Ultimately, the final decision depends on your personal preferences.

If you're looking for a good college to pursue civil engineering and you belong to Southern India, NIT Trichy may be a good option for you. Here's some information that may help you make a decision:

  • NIT Trichy is considered to be the best NIT college for civil engineering in India, and is well-known for its excellent faculty, infrastructure and placements.
  • The college has a good placement record, with many top companies visiting the campus every year for recruitment. Therefore, if your focus is on placements, NIT Trichy may be a good choice for you.
  • While civil engineering is not generally associated with coding, many NIT Trichy students work on coding side-by-side, which can be an added advantage during placement interviews.
  • If you have the opportunity to get into NIT Trichy, it is advisable to take it over IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), as the former is generally considered to be a better college for engineering education and placements.

In summary, if you are looking to pursue civil engineering and belong to Southern India, NIT Trichy can be an excellent option for you. The college is known for its top-notch faculty, infrastructure, and placement opportunities, which make it a preferred choice among engineering aspirants. By choosing NIT Trichy over IIITs, you can give yourself a better chance at a fulfilling career in civil engineering.

Shall I join an IIM (Kozhikode, and newer ones) as a fresher directly after B.tech or should I take a job that is paying 4.5 LPA and take another go at the CAT/XAT after 2 years for A, B, C,L, FMS & X

JS

Your question has a lot of variables to consider. This answer is unbiased as it can be. You should take a job after B.Tech. if you don’t have a strong resume. MBA is a professional course and welcomes experienced students who are well versed in academic performance, extra-curricular, and leadership/management experience.

If you lack in these areas my suggestion would be to upgrade your CV with skills and experience and give CAT another shot.

Keep in mind that your salary does not matter. Your achievements, crisis management and leadership skills you acquire while at work are more important. So if you are eyeing a high-end consulting job, take another go at CAT after gaining some more experience.

Some people tend to lose the motivation to prepare for CAT over the years. They can join IIM Kozhikode even as freshers.
