What advice would you give to an 11th-standard boy for getting admitted to IIM Ahmedabad?

MBA from Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (Graduated 2019)

You must keep an open mind. Be adaptable. You do not always get what you wish for. You must sometimes compromise. So, take a seat. Stop worrying and get on with your life.

Your preferences, likes, and passions do not always remain constant. They can change, and if they do, be open to it. Do what you believe is best for you right now, but don't be stubborn.

Can someone provide any guidelines to help me in the preparation for NISM Equity Derivatives Examination?

US
Utsav Saha Posted On : October 29th, 2021
studied at BIT Mesra (2017)

NISM - VIII Equity Derivatives Examination is one of the toughest examinations in the NISM series. In order to perform well in the examination, you will need a good understanding of derivatives, it’s uses, and their operations. The passing mark is 60% and there will be a deduction of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

One of my friends recently took the examination and according to him, just reading the workbook provided by them is not enough to perform well in the examination. You will need to practice numerical too. My friend used an app called ‘NISM Equity Derivatives See 8’. The app had around 500 questions and solutions. According to my friend it was quite helpful for preparation.

There are no shortcuts for scoring well in NISM-VIII. In order to perform well, you need to have a thorough understanding of Indian derivatives segments.

How must I prepare for the GD-PI rounds at XLRI Jamshedpur for the BM course?

AA
Aishwarya Anand Posted On : February 13th, 2023
Studied at Xavier School of Management

The interview process at XLRI covers a wide range of topics and is designed to give the interviewers a comprehensive understanding of the candidate. During the interview, you may be asked questions about yourself, your past education, any work experience you may have, your family, hobbies, current affairs, and your views on various global issues.

It is important to prepare for the classic interview questions, but it is equally important not to memorize them verbatim. Instead, be prepared for any variations of the questions that may be asked. Some commonly asked questions include:

  • Can you tell me something about yourself?
  • Why do you want to pursue an MBA, and why have you chosen XLRI? Why have you chosen a particular stream such as marketing or finance?
  • Can you tell me about a specific incident in your past and what you learned from it?

It is essential to be familiar with every point on your CV. It is perfectly acceptable to say "I don't know" to a technical question during an interview, but it is not ideal to not be able to answer a question about yourself or your CV.

During the interview, the panelists may ask you to speak about yourself and provide arguments for and against any current government scheme. They may also ask you to design an E-R diagram for an IT system for managing the admissions process of XLRI, and can also inquire about your hobbies and passion. It is crucial to be prepared for a wide range of questions and be able to express oneself effectively.

How can a science student prepare for IPM IIM Indore?

AS
Ankita Sinha Posted On : August 28th, 2021
MS by Research from International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (2020)

Being a Science stream student does not make a very bigger difference when it comes to IPMAT by IIM Indore. The exam has Quantitative Aptitude (QA) and Verbal Ability (VA).

The students from Commerce or Humanities background who have Maths and English as their subjects in Standard 12th have actually same chances as a student from Science background.

The Science stream student who is also preparing for other competitive exams such as JEE may have some advantages in the QA section.

How do IIIT-Hyderabad students prepare for programming competitions? Who encourages them in this field?

BS
Bhavik Shukla Posted On : July 31st, 2023
Studied at IIT Hyderabad

The main driving force in IIIT Hyderabad for encouraging students to prepare for programming competitions is the amazing coding cultus. The faculty is only responsible for delivering the core concepts. The assignments given to students are very challenging and help a lot in developing interest in programming as well as strengthening your time limits, memory limits, and solving SPOJ level questions.

Additionally, IIIT Hyderabad has a competitive programming club that regularly conducts sessions and even provides related study material. This club plays a major role in encouraging students to prepare for programming competitions. There are weekly lab sessions too

The overall environment keeps you up to date with recent developments in the field and motivates you toward programming competitions.

How do people prepare for the CMC, Vellore UG entrance exam?

MC
Monica Chowdhury Posted On : September 22nd, 2023
Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore

Honestly, there is no specific strategy to prepare for the CMC Vellore UG entrance exam. It’s more than enough if you are preparing properly for the AIPMT. Also, I will suggest you follow just one reference book thoroughly. Arrange as many mocks as you can before the exams and also time yourself. Usually, very basic questions are asked and focus is given to speed rather than complexity. I have many friends living near Vellore who took coaching at a college called Voorhees in Vellore to prepare for CMC.

In addition to academic preparation, students should also focus on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise and a balanced diet, to ensure they are in good physical and mental health for the exam.

Hope this helps you!

What are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at IIEST Shibpur?

SG
Saunak Guha Posted On : March 5th, 2021
B.Tech from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur (2020)

Here are some useful tips which may come in handy during your time at the institute.

Academics:

It is the most important factor. From the first year itself, you need to maintain a CGPA of 8.5. If you wish to top your class, you need to study regularly. If you do not study on a regular basis make sure to start preparing at least 2-3 weeks prior to examination. Solve previous years’ questions so that you don’t repent later. Interact with sincere seniors. Their experience can be helpful. Make sure to collect previous year’s questions, questions are usually repeated.

VT or Internships:

During placement, recruiters ask for internship experiences. Apply for internships preferably in a government institute after completing 1st or 2nd year of your course. You will get the information on the official website. Ask your seniors too. They can also provide useful information. Vocational training is important for core branches. You can do your vocational training in any industry like thermal power plants or steel plants.

CV:

Try to build a strong CV. You can go for Tedx, it has good international recognition. Participate in big fests and try to win, these look good on a CV.

Sports:

The institute does not place much focus on sports. But you should try to participate in games and sports. There are inter hostel, inter-department tournaments, and also fests organized by halls and hostels.

Seminars:

Try to attend seminars on the topics that interest you. If you are interested in competitive examinations like GATE, CAT, or others attending seminars organized by coaching institutes will be a big help.

Hope these tips will help you.
