For Fashion Design or Apparel Design, NIFT is the best institute in the country. If you aspire to become a designer or stylist, then choose NIFT. It offers many design specializations such as Fashion, Accessories, Textile, Leather, Knitwear, etc.
For Visual Communication and Product Design, IIT Bombay will be better. IITB basically offers Graphic Design, but it has more importance due to the IIT tag.
Honestly, if you are a 9-pointer in IITB CSE then instead of going to IIM Ahmedabad you should try to look for abroad job prospects. They will pay you much more than you will be getting at IIT Ahmedabad.
All you need to do is improve your skills by doing good projects and internships. After this, you will secure packages worth 2 Crores in companies like Microsoft and Google. You can also apply for a Quantitative Researcher in top-notch companies like Optiver, Graviton, and Jane Street.
There is no right option as it all is a matter of preferences that varies from person to person. So the answer is generic and can be helpful for someone who hasn't yet decided on a branch. My preference order will go from the safest to the riskiest option.
Pros
Cons:
This branch is highly suitable for those interested in both CS and Mathematics. This option is safe in the sense that an average CGPA might get you a non-core job while a good CGPA then this branch has a high employment rate and will work in your favor. Its graduates are highly demanded today.
Pros: You get the chance to pursue the most coveted engineering branch at an extremely reputed institute.
Cons: You will suffer a lot if you are not able to meet the performance standards of the branch. Moreover, you will have no option to go for Finance roles or higher studies which most IITians who are unable to do well in their core branch do.
Thus we can conclude that being an IITian guarantee more success mainly because of the tag and the vast options available.
The pros of each branch above can be considered to make a more informed decision.
Placement-wise, IIT Bombay is clearly the winner, followed by IIT Delhi with IIIT Hyderabad and BITS Pilani almost similar

Startup culture: The startup culture too is best at IIT Bombay, then IIT Delhi followed by BITS and Hyderabad.
\Alumni: IIT Bombay has the highest number of successful alumni across the globe after which stands IIT Delhi, BITS Pilani, and finally IIIT Hyderabad.
I don’t think it’s logical to compare extremely old and government-funded IITs with private institutes like BITS and IIIH. The alumni reach is also incomparable.
My brother was in a similar dilemma as he wondered if spending high fees and 2 years of his life at a new IIM was even worth it. But eventually, he joined it and today he is glad he took the decision. Some major reasons for his satisfaction are
So yes, joining IIM Ranchi for an MBA is worth every rupee and every second you spend.
The first step in the journey of getting a Ph.D. degree is giving either of these exams; GATE, NET, CSIR, or UGC. Next, you have to decide on a particular field in which you will be conducting your research. After this, you have to look for a faculty advisor that has experience in the kind of research work you are looking for. His teaching style should necessarily align with your learning style. Conduct extensive research on the topic you will be working on.
IIT Bombay: Here, you are required to do some coursework on the topic you have chosen. Choose the course that will give you more opportunities than others. Most Ph.D. students take some courses only to make up the required credits. This is not right as you will miss the opportunity to learn so much from every department. The most preferred courses are CS and Modelling at IIT Bombay.
One can even upgrade their skills in Mathematics and Statistics. Other courses that might help you in research work are fluid mechanics, soil mechanics, inorganic chemistry, solid-state physics, and thermodynamics.
Basically, you should choose your coursework not only for credits but to get knowledge of the research work you will be doing. Seek help from your advisor on the same.
If you are considering attending a top 20 college in India and are looking for a competitive atmosphere, good infrastructure, a strong alumni network, and high salaries upon graduation, then IITB SJMSOM may be the better choice. However, it's worth noting that some of the courses offered at newer IIMs, such as IIM Trichy or IIM Ranchi's HR program, have gained a lot of recognition in recent years. While these institutes may not yet have the same level of prestige or alumni network as IITB, they should not be underestimated.
It's important to remember that salary outcomes are largely dependent on individual performance in business school. Even if you attend a younger IIM, you may still be offered a lower salary than a top-performing student at IITB if your results are not as strong. Ultimately, the best choice for you will depend on your personal priorities and the specific programs and resources offered at each institution.
The answer to your question is objectively based solely on your inclinations. IITs might offer a better ROI than IIMs. But had I been in your place I would have gone for the newer IIMs like Kozhikode or IIM Ranchi which is one of the fastest-growing IIMs. The reasons for taking this decision would have been
All these points make IIM a more tempting choice. Yet if you are tight on budget and just want to go for the Operations domain IIT will do fine for you.
For an MBA, you should not even compare IIT Bombay and IIM Ahmedabad or Bangalore or Calcutta. The IIT Bombay is a prestigious engineering school. For management, IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Calcutta are the same. Both are in a completely different league.
Considering only ROI makes no sense from the perspective of an MBA because an MBA is more than just an investment in yourself. These IIMs have much better professors, a world-class curriculum, peer groups, alumni, placements, student exchange opportunities, and so on.
So, if you get through them, please go for the IIMs. Financing your education will be simple because once you graduate from one of these IIMs, banks will be eager to extend loans, sometimes even without a guarantee. And if you do well, you will be able to find a good job and pay off your loan in a few years.
During the recent placements, 85.71% of students from the B.Des batch of IIT Bombay got placement offers. The median and average CTC offered to IIT Bombay B.Des students were INR 35 LPA and INR 17.9 LPA, respectively.
IIT Guwahati B.Des is one of the highly paid branch. Almost 95% of students from the branch get placed each year. The average CTC for the branch is INR 14-15 LPA. Students of B.Des are usually employed in roles like UI/UX designers. Some of the major recruiters are Uber, Sprinklr, AppDynamics, Myntra, etc.
