What course at XIMB is better, rural management or sustainable management?

SG
Shreyan Ghose Posted On : April 16th, 2021
M.B.A. MBA-Rural Management, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (2017)

RM and SM are different schools now and are no longer considered XIMB. XSRM and XSoS are now Xavier School of Rural Management and Xavier School of Sustainable Management respectively.

  • The RM and SM programs come under Xavier University, Bhuvaneshwar. This means that post the convocation, your degree would read “XUB” and not “XIMB”. But you would be happy to know that the faculty is the same and placements are deserving.
  • You would be exposed to diverse sectors regardless of what course you are pursuing.
  • If RM and SM are the only specializations for you, it’s then up to you to choose whatever future you would like. Agricultural finance and GIS tagging are some sectors that are in trend these days in the line of either specialization.

Both the courses are equally good and have their own importance. So, it’s all your decision, which field you want to pursue your career in.

Will I regret joining IIT Roorkee for MBA leaving IMT, IMI, TAPMI?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : October 6th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

IIT Roorkee will never be an option that you’ll regret. Here are some reasons why getting an MBA from an IIT like IIT-R is considerably different from getting one from a business school like XIMB or Tapmi.

  • Infrastructure: Modern labs, classrooms, libraries, and other spaces were made available. Both the hostel's amenities and the meals at the mess were excellent. Students utilize bicycles to get to the department, which is around 500 meters from the dormitory.
  • Placements: 90% of the batch was placed. In 2023 the highest package was INR 27.94 LPA and the average package offered was 18.34 LPA. Top recruiters were KPMG India, Bristlecone, Cognizant, ICICI Bank, etc. There are student exchange programmes with some of the top universities around the world which also is an added perk of studying in this university.
  • Faculty: All the professors and assistant professors in the faculty were Ph.D. holders and had good acumen and knowledge.

What is the course structure of MBF at XIM University, Bhubaneshwar?

SM
Shreyatama Mukherjee Posted On : July 8th, 2021
Studied at IIM Calcutta (2019)

One of my friends studied at XIM University. According to him, the best part about pursuing a degree of MBF at XIM would help you tackle any difficulty and overcome it by meeting the demands of the industry. This is how great the academic pattern of MBF is.

  • All the areas that are functional in the Business Finance area include - Corporate Tax Planning, Finance Accounting, Corporate Law, Business Analytics, Financial Modelling, Project Planning, etc.
  • The MBF curriculum covers both the concepts and theories of these functional areas mentioned.
  • The curriculum is updated with recent industry trends.
  • It also works upon seminars, burning issues, managing workshops, and interacting with experts from the particular industry.
  • There are summer internship programs that bring the students on-field to enhance organizational competencies.
  • The numerous courses taught here help the students get a better grip on ideas and various other concepts that are already discussed in the respective classrooms.

The design of this program makes it quite unique. The curriculum is designed in such a way that the industry helps the students get an idea of both- practical and theoretical knowledge so that it helps shape their decision-making and develop analytical skills.

A

VGSoM (IIT Kharagpur) conducts its MBA admissions in two phases-

  1. First, candidates are shortlisted for the Personal Interview round. The applicants are shortlisted for PI based on their CAT scores, past academic performance, work experience and professional qualification. Gender diversity factor benefits female candidates, providing them with certain extra points.
  2. The final selection of the candidates is then done on all the factors listed above, with the inclusion of their PI scores.

Here is the minimum CAT score required for expecting a call from IIT Kharagpur for the PI Round:

Category

Minimum Overall Percentile for Eligibility

General/EWS

90

OBC

81

SC

60

ST

If you are a general candidate, you can hope for an interview invitation call from IIT Kharagpur at 90-98 percentile. But because the shortlisting is done on the basis of various factors, these cutoffs are not sure to get you a call for MBA admissions.
