Is CLAT a difficult exam?

PP
Pablo Patranobish Posted On : January 20th, 2021
FMS Delhi (2019)

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national-level law entrance examination. It is conducted every year by the consortium of NLUs. CLAT question paper is based on MCQ format and consists of 150 questions. The exam tests the critical thinking ability of law aspirants. CLAT is not a difficult exam to crack. Anyone who is well prepared can get into an NLU. However, it can be a bit tough to get into the top five NLUs.

The difficulty level of an exam depends on two things, which are as follows.

Pattern and level of preparation:

  • The CLAT question paper consists of 150 questions spread over five sections. The five sections are – English language, Current affairs including general knowledge, legal reasoning, logical reasoning, and quantitative techniques.
  • ALL the questions are comprehension based. So, a candidate has to read the entire passage to solve a set of questions. What makes the exam scary is the time frame. Candidates have to complete the entire paper within two hours.
  • However, practicing a lot of mocks will help overcome this difficulty. Candidates having the habit of reading newspapers will have an edge in this exam.

So, solving various questions, mocks, reading newspapers, and staying updated about the happenings around the world are the keys to achieve success in CLAT.

Level of Competition:

Every year around 65,000 candidates apply for this exam and the number keeps increasing with each passing year. However, the ratio of selection in CLAT is higher as compared to JEE.

In nutshell, CLAT requires planned and smart preparation, and the rest will find its way.

How can we prepare for the JEE Mains while attending classes at NIT Sikkim?

IT
Ishaan Tiwari Posted On : July 5th, 2021
Studied at NIT Trichy (2019)

JEE Main is a tough exam and it gets even tougher if you have your college studies to do. But luckily in NIT Sikkim, the study pressure is less, so you can prepare easily. For preparation, you can take an extra day off from the institute with permission.

  • Talking about the JEE subjects, Mathematics is the same as the course in 1st year so it gives you a good revision and more guidance to cover your topics.
  • For Chemistry especially the organic part and inorganic part comes only from the NCERT books and from the previous year’s papers.
  • For Physical Chemistry, you can ask your faculty from the chemistry department to help you with it.
  • Moreover, class notes, previous year’s papers, and a good book will set you up properly.
  • For Physics HC Verma and DC Pandey are the best books available. The physics department helps you if you ask regarding anything.
  • In the first-semester course differential and integral calculus are covered so you don’t have to worry about them.

NIT is a good option and you won’t have anything to lose so it is safe. Just solve a lot of practice papers.

Most people who appear for BITSAT and clear it are good at PCM. Most of them also rank well in JEE Main and JEE Advanced too (these only tests PCM). Since the BITSAT syllabus covers PCM, English, and Logical Reasoning, your total score depends a lot on how you perform in the English section.

The English proficiency test of the BITSAT syllabus is as follows.

Sections

Syllabus

Agreement, relative pronouns, tense, parallel constructions, determiners, adjectives, modals, prepositions, voice, phrasal verbs, questions tags

Vocabulary

Synonyms/antonyms, One word, homophones, spelling, odd words, analogy, contextual meaning, jumbled letters

Reading Comprehension

Composition

Paragraph unity, rearrange, linkers

So, put a little effort into preparing for the English section. Given below are a few tips which can be helpful for the preparation.

  • Follow and practice from Arihant’s BITSAT Books. It has lots of questions and practice papers.
  • Study English newspapers daily to remain up-to-date with the examination announcements. In addition, it will also enhance your vocabulary.
  • Before examinations, practice test papers too.

Good marks in the non-PCM subjects can be the difference between Goa, Hyderabad, and Pilani. It can also be the difference between branches. If you are generally good at English, you can easily do well in the section. Otherwise, practice well and try to perform your best in the exam. Preparing for English does not take much time but it can be quite helpful to secure a good score.

What is the complete process in AFCAT SSB?

SG
Sankha Ghosh Posted On : February 19th, 2021
SSB Aspirant

Other than some minor differences, the process for SSB is the same everywhere be it AFCAT, SSB or NSB.

  • Normal selection for SSB lasts for 5 days. While for AFCAT it takes 6 days. Applicants are given one day to rest in between selection procedures, according to their batch.
  • If you opt for pilot entry in AFCAT, you will have to undergo a test called PABT (Pilot Aptitude Battery Test). You can only attempt this test once. If you fail, you won’t get the chance to attempt again.
  • You will have your psych test in the evening or up till 7 pm on the same day of screening, which is a little hectic.

In AFCAT, one or two obstacles will be totally new but these are not more difficult, just different than SSB.
