Which college is best for mechanical engineering JNTUK or SV University?

PC
Piyali Chakraborty Posted On : April 20th, 2023
Masters degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada (2016)

If you are looking to pursue higher education in engineering, it's important to choose a college that provides you with a quality learning experience and prepares you for a successful career in the field. Here are some points to consider while selecting a college:

  • State-of-the-art machinery and equipment: Engineering involves hands-on learning and practical application of concepts. Therefore, it's important to choose a college that has well-equipped labs and workshops with state-of-the-art machinery and equipment. This ensures that you get a hands-on experience with the latest tools and technologies in the field.
  • Proficient Professors: The quality of education depends on the proficiency and experience of the faculty members. Choose a college that has highly qualified and experienced faculty in your field of interest. Professors who are active in research and development can provide you with valuable insights into the latest trends and technologies in the field.
  • Core Placements: Placement opportunities are a crucial factor to consider while selecting a college. Choose a college that has a good track record of placing students in reputed companies in your field of interest. Core placements refer to job opportunities in companies that are directly related to your field of study.

When considering colleges, you may come across options such as Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada (JNTUK). While these are both well-known universities, it's important to evaluate if they meet your requirements. Here are some points to consider while evaluating these universities:

  • Infrastructure: While both universities have decent infrastructure, it's important to assess if they have state-of-the-art machinery and equipment in your field of study. You can visit their websites or take a campus tour to get a better idea.
  • Faculty: Both universities have a mix of experienced and young faculty members. It's important to research the faculty members in your field of interest and assess their proficiency and experience.
  • Placements: Both universities have a good placement record, but it's important to assess if they offer core placements in your field of interest. You can check their placement statistics and connect with alumni to get a better idea.

Every college has its strengths and weaknesses. While some colleges may have all the facilities and opportunities you are looking for, others may offer unique experiences that you may not find elsewhere. Therefore, it's important to evaluate your options carefully and choose a college that aligns with your goals and aspirations.

Which is better, mechanical engineering in IIT Hyderabad or engineering physics at IIT Roorkee?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : May 22nd, 2023
lives in New Delhi

It is difficult to determine which is better; Mechanical Engineering in IIT Hyderabad or Engineering Physics at IIT Roorkee without knowing what your expectations from the degree are and your personal preferences. Nevertheless, I am here to spill a few facts about EP at IIT Roorkee.

  • Engineering Physics at IIT Roorkee is a multidisciplinary branch, with courses from Physics, Electrical, Electronics, Mathematics, and Chemistry departments.
  • The courses included in the curriculum are quite demanding and can be really challenging for those who have little interest in Science
  • Engineering Physics provided no core placements after completion of the BTech degree.
  • Those who have an interest in a specific field of Physics can pursue research as it has great scope.
  • You can also work as a scientist in DRDO or ISRO.
  • You can also opt for fields like Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, or Quantitative Finance where people with majors in CSE, Applied Maths, and Physics are preferred.
  • Software Engineering roles are also available for EP students although it is challenging to manage the academics along with programming.

I would recommend you go for an easier branch that has less workload so that you can focus well on coding and get placed right after BTech in IIT.

Firstly contact your college’s Administration department. The college usually conducts counselling for change of branch right after first year examinations. This is decided on the basis of your marks in the first year.

Your principal or the Admission in charge will help you throughout the entire process.

Interacting with your seniors and people working in the core sector will convince you that Mechanical Engineering at NIT JSR is a far superior option to mining.

Mechanical Engineering at NIT JSR will provide you with numerous opportunities and will help you advance your career. Furthermore, mining is not a female-friendly field, and the working conditions are deplorable.

So, without hesitation, you should pursue Mechanical at NIT JSR because the opportunities are vast and the placements are excellent.

Which one is better- IIT Gandhinagar or IIT Hyderabad for mechanical engineering?

SA
Saef Ansari Posted On : May 16th, 2023

The worth and credibility of any department of a particular institute can be determined by the faculty pool of that concerned department. Generally,

  • Many faculty members working in different specializations mean that the students get to learn from a variety of courses. This helps you in exploring your interests better.
  • A large number of professors also imply that you will definitely find a person working in your area of interest with whom you can work on projects.

The Mechanical Engineering department of IIT Hyderabad specifically, has an extensive faculty pool of many professors that are specialties in diverse fields. IIT Gandhinagar’s Mechanical Engineering department isn't necessarily inferior, but a major part of the faculty pool comprises temporary visiting professors.

Thus for Mechanical Engineering, IIT Hyderabad is a better option than IIT Gandhinagar.

Which is better for B.Tech. mechanical at NIT Jalandhar or mechanical at NIT Rourkela overall

AT
Archana Tiwari Posted On : December 8th, 2022
B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar ( NITJ ) (Graduated 2018)

My friend is an NIT Jalandhar pass out so I can speak about that only. She regretted getting admission into NIT Jalandhar. She faced some serious problems

  • Faculty: The professors were below average in their teaching methods. Most lacked the basic knowledge and just read out from books. Moreover, if you don’t win their favor you get fewer marks in assignments. This affects your overall CGPA.

  • Crowd: It will be hard to find a diverse crowd here as most of the students hail from Punjab itself. Even their language is common within the campus.

  • Placements: Talking specifically about Mechanical Engineering placements, the condition is pretty bad. The average package this year was INR 7.87 LPA while the highest CTC was just INR 8.4 LPA.

  • Hostels: The first and second-year hostels do not have Wi-Fi connections which is a major drawback. Hostels 3-7 are also averagely built. Mega Hostels have better facilities in comparison to other hostels at NIT Jalandhar.

These are some shortcomings of NIT Jalandhar which might affect your overall experience. You can research the same for NIT Rourkela and make a comparison. In case NIT Rourkela is even worse, then NIT Jalandhar is your last option.
