Should I go for CS in MSIT or ECE from MAIT?

AC
Ankita Chatterjee Posted On : July 3rd, 2021
Computer Science and Engineering at Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (2018)

First of all, both the branches differ a lot from each other. Thus, you need to understand which branch you are inclined to. Also, keep in mind that you can change your field from ECE to CSE but not vice versa. So, choosing CSE can get you an advantage in many ways. My friend is currently studying CSE in MSIT and here’s what his experience says.

Dedicated faculty: Most teachers are well experienced and really enjoy what they teach you. If you have even smallest of the doubts, do not hesitate as they will assist you whenever you need them. Especially in the CSE department, teachers are really cooperative.

Infrastructure: If you visit both MSIT and MAIT, you will find that MAIT has a tad bit better infrastructure.

Location: MSIT definitely has a location advantage as you can find various hangout spots around the institute and even the nearest metro of Janakpuri East is just 5 minutes away. On the other hand, MAIT lacks proximity to metro and hangout spots.

Placements: While both the colleges have great placements, the CSE branch will get you better packages and increased opportunities, like any other college In India.

According to the recent placement data the highest and average CTC offered at MSIT is 47 LPA and 3.6 LPA. For MAIT the average and highest CTC is 3 LPA and 28 LPA.

All in all, both MAIT and MSIT are reputed private colleges of Delhi. The biggest thing that makes the difference here is the branch you choose. No doubt CSE has an upper hand over ECE as mentioned above.

Is Bhartiya Vidyapeeth University University, Pune a good university with the best placement for a B.Tech student?

AT
Ayushi Tiwari Posted On : June 27th, 2021
B.Tech in EE from Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, Pune (2020)

Bhartiya Vidyapeeth University, Pune is certainly a good institute.

  • For the E&TC branch, the placement scenario and the packages that are provided are both good. CS&IT branches have average placement records. For Civil, the placement record is not that good. The studies at the Mechanical Department are good and tougher as compared to other branches. There, you would find a group of faculty members who are seniors and much more experienced in their subject domain.
  • According to 2020 placement highlights, the average package which is offered is around 7 LPA. The highest placement that was offered went up to 12 LPA.

Getting good placement also depends a lot on your efforts. The campus is green and beautiful.

How is the placement of ECE at MAIT IPU?

KP
Kritika Patil Posted On : June 10th, 2021
B.Tech Information Technology, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (2016)

One of my cousins is an ECE graduate of BVCOE (IPU). Here are her two cents about the placement at the institute.

  • Placement records of MAIT IPU are quite good. However, it depends on whether you want to pursue a core ECE job or an IT job focused on programming. It means, obtaining a core ECE job would be quite difficult because there is little to no company that would offer a core job on the campus placement.
  • Although, if you are looking for placement in an IT company, then your chances of acquiring a good placement are fairly on the positive side.
  • More essentially, nearly everyone gets a placement, if they are from the background of CSE, IT, or ECE branch. It is because they are usually considered more competent to fit in IT firms such as TCS, Infosys, and several others.
  • The average package has been recorded to 3.50 LPA whereas the highest salary is 28 LPA.

Thus, if you have scored 70% or above with no backlog history, then the chances of you obtaining a job in any IT company are good. In addition, if you are good with programming, then your chances of getting placed in top IT companies will considerably be more.

How are the facilities of the aerospace engineering department in Karunya University?

TC
Tanush Chandra Posted On : September 9th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering from Karunya University (2020)

The Department of Aerospace was started in Karunya University with the primary objective to produce aerospace engineers for meeting the ever-growing demand for engineers for serving the sectors that are civil aeronautical and defense-oriented. At the same time, the department also aims to employ part of its staff in the expansion of space R&D as the demand for space applications in communication, strategic applications, remote sensing, etc is increasing.

The technologists and entrepreneurs of Karunya University are in much demand by the aircraft design and manufacture as there is still a lack of a viable civilian aircraft and industry sector in the country. A large part of the business still goes out to foreign launch operations despite the presence of large communication satellites that are launched into synchronous orbits.

The experimental facilities at Karunya University have been set up not only to teach but also to evolve as tools of research and consultancy. The specifications of the facilities have been laid out with their eventual research application. You will have to perform testing and generation of data for real-life applications in aircraft, spacecraft, and rockets as opposed to cases that are idealized in the UG curriculum.

Can I get into the IT branch in IIEST Shibpur with a JEE Mains rank of 27.5k and an outside state?

SS
Shivaprasad Sengupta Posted On : July 5th, 2021
B.Arch at IIEST (2019)

IIEST Shibpur is one of the oldest engineering colleges in India. As it is one of the most wanted engineering colleges, the closing rank for IIEST is expected to be quite steep.

For B.Tech Information Technology, the recent cutoff for outside and home state students at IIEST were as follows.

  • Home State - 11084 - 13249
  • Outer State - 9524 - 17031

This is for the general category students. So, there’s a thin chance that you will get admission at IIEST IT.

However, you should not lose hope as the stats may change after every round. For more details regarding cutoff, you can visit their official website.

Which is the better choice for mechanical engineering, NIT Raipur or HBTU Kanpur?

AS
Arijit Sahai Posted On : April 15th, 2021
B.Tech. Chemical Engineering, Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur (2020)

Having talked to people at NIT Raipur and HBTU Kanpur, I have gathered reasons why students should opt for NIT Raipur instead of HBTU Kanpur for B.Tech.

These are described below -

  • NIT has a brand value as it has a renowned name and fame, which will benefit you in many ways.
  • There is a more competitive environment in NIT if compared to HTBU.
  • There are more technical, cultural, and sports events in NIT than HTBU which helps the student to develop their personality and intelligence.
  • NIT is a government-funded college so more funds are given to NITs, which help them to provide more facilities to the students like Advance labs and classes.
  • The alumni reach of NIT is more than HBTU.
  • The average placement of NIT Raipur is better than the HBTU.
  • Students can avail 100% fee waiver if the students have low family income.

The table shows a brief overview of the institutions:

Particulars

NIT Raipur

HBTU Kanpur

Median Salary

Rs. 9.5 lakhs

Rs. 7.18 lakhs

Highest Salary

Rs. 33 lakhs

Rs. 60 lakhs

Entrance Criteria

JEE Mains

JEE Mains

Fees

Rs. 5.52 lakhs

Rs. 5.17 lakhs

Overall, NIT Raipur is the potential choice for B.Tech rather than HBTU Kanpur. Even students of HBTU also prefer NIT Raipur over their college.

Is CSE good at SRM Sonepat?

AR
Ashutosh Rane Posted On : April 7th, 2021
CSE B.Tech

SRM Sonepat is still in its developing phase. You won’t get your money’s worth there. There are only 3 B.Tech batches that have passed out. Most placement offers are either from the marketing sector or business analysts. Just 5% of the students get job offers in core sectors of their specific streams but with a very low package.

  • The faculty is also not that good. You can get better teachers even in certain coaching institutes where your total expense can climb up to only 6-10k for a valuable cause.
  • You can also get various other colleges at almost the same fees, such as HMR, LPU, AMITY, SHARDA, JAYEEE, SRM Chennai, VIT, and several others. They might charge you more than the average amount, but you will be provided better faculty and facilities. The study environment in SRM Sonepat is not good neither is the student crowd.
  • The Civil and Mechanical branches have acquired nearly zero placement (except only a handful of 2–3 students) for the past couple of years. The students who pass out are mostly offered jobs that are not related to their actual branch.

So, it will be better if you don’t keep SRM Sonepat as one of your options.

Which college should I join for CS, IIIT Nagpur or IEM Kolkata?

SG
Shalini Guha Posted On : July 6th, 2021
Studied B.Tech Electrical Engineering at IEM Kolkata

If you get a chance to join top institutes, do your research and opt for the very best. You will be the one to spend 4 years learning that particular subject. In this case, both IIIT Nagpur and IEM Kolkata are good colleges.

Having known people studying in both IIIT Nagpur and IEM, I can say that IIIT Nagpur was recently established whereas IEM is quite older and has enough experience as an educational institution.

  • It won’t be reliable to take admission in IIIT Nagpur as it is new. Though it possesses a good faculty and placement record.
  • You can take CS at IEM confidently as the faculty is well experienced and possess relevant qualifications.
  • Besides, IEM is situated in one of the biggest IT hubs of east India.
  • Mostly all IT companies near the college visit the campus for recruiting and conduct industry visits.

Categories

CS at IIIT Nagpur

CS at IEM Kolkata

Course Fee

7.65 lakh

5.83 lakh

Highest CTC

25 LPA

35-47 LPA

Average CTC

8-9 LPA

10-12 LPA

Recruiting Companies

Wipro, L&T, TCS, Reliance, etc.

Accenture, Capgemini, Infosys, Oracle, etc.

It all depends upon your choice at last. Otherwise, if you feel and want to go for the IIIT tag it’s completely your choice. In the case of IEM Kolkata as it is well established and has a good report and you can go for it without any second thought.

Should I join metallurgy at PEC chandigarh though I have interest in CSE or should I drop an year to make it to IITS/NITS/BITS?

SD
Sajhbati Dasgupta Posted On : September 17th, 2022
Studied at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh

If you are interested in CSE and have the confidence that you will be able to get IITs/NITs/BITS, you can take a drop year. But this option has its risks. PEC Chandigarh offers branch sliding options. Although the cutoff requirement is high for CSE, it's certainly doable with hard work. This way you won’t have to worry about a drop year.
