IIT Madras (IITM) is ranked 1st in the Engineering category by NIRF Ranking 2019. They have a strong and highly qualified faculty of 630 members, most of them being PhD holders and have a student strength of 6638.
BTech in IITM is a 4 year full time undergraduate course. Students after completing their 10+2 and securing a JEE Advanced rank can apply for a BTech program.
BTech and MTech dual degree is a 5 year course which will give students a both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Technology or Engineering.
Process of Conversion into a Dual degree
The advantages of taking a dual degree (BTech + MTech) gives the students an opportunity to receive both degrees with a year to spare. Unlike doing BTech and MTech separately which will take 6 years to complete whereas a dual degree will take 5 years to complete.

Among the newly established IITs formed in 2015-2016 are-
IIT Dhanbad (known formerly as Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad) was established in 1926 and got an IIT tag in 2016. It has a strong alumni network and a legacy of around a century. It is a well-renowned institution and ranked 17th in the NIRF India Rankings 2023: Engineering. The placement statistics for IIT Dhanbad (as of May 8th, 2023) are-
At IIT Hyderabad, the Computer Science Department comprises young and dynamic faculty members.
The faculty has active collaboration with academic and industry partners like Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Microsoft Research, IBM Research, Intel, AMD, INRIA, and Eurocom, among others. CSE Department also has a strong collaboration with Japanese universities and industries. Many students get to spend time in Japan as part of academic and cultural exchange programs.
All the institutions are well-reputed and well-suited to pursue your CSE degree. You should choose among them based on your personal preference.
It is important to be clear on which branch you are looking at, since the placements and campus will differ entirely based on that. To draw a clear and precise comparison, let us look at the institutions based on the branch of study.

Based on the given factors, students can make an informed choice between the given institutions for ECE or CSE depending on their preferences and requirements.
Among both these institutes it will be better if you go for ECE at Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT) than CE at Mizoram University (MZU).
Categories | ECE at Heritage Institute of Technology | CE at Mizoram University |
Course Fee | INR 4.04 LPA | INR 6.85 lakh |
Placement Percentage | 70-80% | 50-60% |

Therefore, as HIT provides such better opportunities for students it is recommended that you go for it rather than choosing MZU.
ET Lucknow is an autonomous constituent college of Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU). It is considered one of the tier 3 engineering colleges in the state and most of the students from the institute pass out with an average salary of INR 3 – 4 lakhs per annum to work as clerks in service-based companies which cannot be termed great in any sense.
Electrical Engineering as a discipline is also very dead and there will be very few core companies who will offer jobs.
The skills demanded by the industry are not being supplied by the students and thus placements are lower. If the colleges start implementing changes and upskill their students the situation will definitely improve. But as it stands today, the placements are grim.
I would advise choosing LPU because of the following reasons:
Firstly your undergraduate degree is completely irrelevant to the MBA degree you intend to pursue, as the two are poles apart. So, the choice of college will depend on the specialization you want to pursue in management.
Secondly, both colleges are regarded as excellent Tier 1 colleges in India and generally among the top 20 B-schools in India. Having said that, the only thing that separates them is the course they offer and what you want to choose and pursue.
In addition to having two campuses, IIFT offers a specialized international business degree that is not provided by other top-tier business schools.
In contrast, SIBM Pune offers a legitimate General Management program, just like the other Top B-schools. Below is a table comparing the two colleges in different aspects;

I am a B.Tech CSE student at IIT Bhubaneswar. Our institution is ranked 47 in the NIRF 2023 Engineering Ranking.
Other than that, IIT Bhubaneswar has various clubs and societies which allow students explore areas like robotics, web design and programming. These clubs and societies are- Robotics and Intelligent Systems Club (RISC), Web and Design Society (WebnD), and Neuromancers (The Programming Society).
Here is the NIRF 2024 Engineering Ranking, and average package offered to CSE students at these various IITs:
IIT Name | NIRF 2024 Engineering Ranking | Average package for B.Tech CSE |
---|---|---|
IIT Gandhinagar | 8 | INR 29.29 LPA |
IIT Ropar | 9 | INR 28.72 LPA |
IIT Patna | 10 | INR 35.57 LPA |
IIT Indore | 16 | INR 30.32 LPA |
IIT Bhubaneswar | 26 | INR 25.18 LPA |
Even though IIT Bhubaneswar ranks the lowest in both these parameters, it is a good enough choice for B.Tech CSE. It offers good clubs & societies, decent placements, and an IIT tag like the others.
BITS is the better choice among all as CSE has more scope than ECE. And NIT Surathkal is an old institute with a better placement record than IIT Bhubaneswar.
Since BITS Hyderabad is the newest among all other campuses and it certainly is a little behind in terms of faculty, infrastructure, etc. But when compared on a national level it is on par with any other institute. It provides the students with a prime location to look for internships and also provides an edge to them if they are opting for off-campus placements. Although the institute provides students with decent opportunities for on-campus placements also. Around 200 companies visit the campus each year and around 94% of the student secured a job through campus placements with an average package of around 5-6 lakhs per annum and the highest package offered was as high as 14 lakhs per annum.
NIT Surathkal is among the top NITs of this country. The placements of students of this branch are also good although NIT Trichy and Warangal have better placement records. The average placement package offered at this NIT is around 14.15 LPA and 100% placement was observed for B.Tech batches in last year’s placement drive.
ECE is one of the new branches that started at IIT Bhubaneswar starting from 2016. Hence the first batch of students will graduate in 2020. In 2019, the average CTC offered in this IIT was 11.44 LPA. Many core companies, software companies, PSU’s, etc. hire electrical engineers from IIT Bhubaneswar hence one can assume the same trend to be followed for electronics and communication engineering also but the result is yet to be seen.
