DTU should be your priority. It is one of the oldest Indian Engineering institutions. It has a brand name and a good reputation. It has better placements, campus, college life, location, etc. than COEP. Only NIT Trichy and NIT Warangal are on par with DTU. Mechanical is a renowned branch at DTU. The Mechanical department has many innovations to its credit. For example, the first Biodiesel Lab in India.
I know someone who did his B.Tech Mechanical from COEP. He chose COEP over a top NIT. According to him, it was not a wise decision for his career. Teaching is done mostly in Marathi at COEP. Some of the faculty members are underqualified and not up to the mark. This made him lose interest in learning and resulted in poor personality development.
At NITs, you study with people from across India and this offers exposure to different cultures. The NIT brand also has its added advantages. NITs have a standard grading system known in the industry. When you graduate from COEP and go to, say IIMs, the grading system at COEP causes a lot of hassle. COEP does not offer cross-culture exposure. Though the labs at COEP are big, the equipment is outdated and non-functional.
A benefit is that COEP is located in Pune which is an automotive hub. Therefore, Mechanical students get to connect with the automotive industry. Pune automotive industry has a large number of COEP alumni. All this allows you to do a lot of live industry projects while on campus.
Overall, choose DTU and if you do not get admission into it, go for lower NITs.

Production and Industrial Engineering is a specialization branch of Mechanical Engineering. Most of the subjects are similar in both branches. DTU is a good college in India. Students securing decent JEE Mains rank are able to get admission in it. This branch has good prospects for the future in DTU.
Most people are concerned about future prospects in the branch they choose. For production and industrial engineering at DTU, these prospects are good. Many companies that recruit mechanical engineers are also open to this branch. In today's world, most of the jobs are in the IT sector. These companies want people with certain skills. They do not care about the branch of their employees. DTU has a good coding culture. Most of the students practice computer programming. There are clubs and some groups of students who help their friends and juniors to learn skills. These skills help them to make a good resume to impress the recruiters. If one has an interest in working in core companies, then also they have a chance at DTU. If one maintains a good academic profile and an exceptional achievement record, he is sure to get a core job.
This branch also includes learning of management skills which are very helpful. Students of this branch can also appear for GATE. This way they can get jobs at PSUs or complete M.Tech in this branch. The location of DTU is also a boon for the civil services aspirants. Delhi is known to have top coaching centers for civil service preparations. So the people aiming to crack UPSC can also opt for this college. Thus, if you see all advantages of opting for this branch in DTU, then it is quite a good option.
Here are a few factors to consider while comparing NIT Surathkal and DTU.
In all, all the 3 institutes you mentioned are prestigious institutes that will offer a plethora of opportunities in shaping your career. What matters is how well you grab the opportunities and climb the success ladder.
DTU is ranked at 36 amongst all engineering colleges in India by NIRF 2020. MAIT is ranked at 89 by the week for BTech.

Engineering Physics and EEE are two completely different branches of engineering. The former has more opportunities for higher studies and DTU offers great exposure for that. Many students went on to pursue MS in Ivy League Universities from the course. Whereas EEE has better placement. You should choose the course you are more interested in and the institute according to that.
Comparison of IIIT Delhi over DTU and NSIT should be based on some criteria:
According to IIITD, in 2019 B.Tech CSE placed 98.96% of students and B.Tech ECE placed 94.59% of students. The average salary of the last batch is Rs. 15 lakhs. In the case of NSIT, they record around 90% of placement every year. The average salary of the last B.Tech batch is around 8 lakhs per year. DTU also gives around 11.17 lakhs per annum with 70-80% student’s placement per year.
Established in 2008, IIITD has a cutting edge infrastructure with high tech equipment. In NSIT, you might still find 2nd gen. computers. The institute has no A.C facility in labs, classrooms. And in DTU, the operative condition of instruments is also weak, even not fully connected to Wi-Fi.
In the case of academic blocks and hostel facilities, IIITD has an auditorium and a total of 25 lecture halls of varying sizes. At present, there is one hostel for boys and one for girls. NSIT has 2 girl’s hostels and 2 boy’s hostels. Hostel life is wonderful in DTU. Hostel infrastructure is good along with badminton and TT court inside. There are 5 hostels for boys and 3 for girls.
In IIITD, the Library has a large collection of print and electronic media. With this, the institute has fully connected through the internet connection. The condition of the library of NSIT and DTU is also good, but the condition of books and print media is less compared to IIITD.
IIITD is nearly Rs. 3,60,000 per year for B.Tech in 2019 -20, for M.Tech (CSE/ECE) 2019 it is nearly Rs.1,85,000 which is high as compare to NSIT where for B.Tech nearly Rs. 1,66,000 per year (2019-20), and for M.Tech it is Rs. 1,86,000. Whereas DTU charges Rs. 1,95,000 for B.Tech and for M.Tech it is Rs. 1,66,000.
The IIITD got rank through NIRF 55th in India. Whereas the NSIT ranked 11 among Engineering colleges by Outlook and 22 by the week in 2019. The DTU has got rank 36 for engineering by NIRF 2020.
