Symbiosis School of Economics has been ranked the 6th best college among leading business schools in India by Outlook 2020. This college is the home of economics and offers nearly 99% placements to the deserving students.

Admission in NMIMS Bengaluru is as follows:

• Candidates should have a minimum of 50% marks from any recognized university.
• The admission to the BSc in Economics course is based on the marks obtained in NPAT, CLAT/LSAT, and NMAT tests.

Admission in Symbiosis School of Economics is as follows:

The Symbiosis School of Economics is preferable to NMIMS Bangalore for pursuing BSc in Economics. The location is in Pune which has a very friendly climate and the course is designed in such a way that you will get to know more about the world.

Shoolini University is a private university situated in Solan district. Admissions for zoology are based on merit followed by counseling and personal interview. The placement rate of the university is also quite impressive.

Given below is a brief look into the BSc Zoology program offered by the university.

Admission process:

• The admission process is both online and offline with an application fee of 800 INR.

• Admissions for Zoology are totally based on merit. For BSc in Zoology, admissions are based on the result of the 12th board, and for M.Sc, admissions are based on the graduation merit followed by personal interview.

Apart from a major in CS, students can also opt for a minor in CS or interdisciplinary majors and Entrepreneurship in CS and Mathematics. The university provides students with a good exposure along with guest lectures by well-known inventors or innovators relating to computer engineering. This is the process which is also followed by some good foreign engineering universities.

The placement structure for computer engineering students is also good. The university offers ample opportunities to intern and work with reputed organizations. The companies that visit Ashoka University for placements are Albright Stonebridge Group, AmbitionBox, Better Mortgage, Bloomberg Quint, Business Standard, Clix Capital, Deloitte, and many more. The average package at this university is around 6-7 LPA.
 
 

Jain University is one of the prime institutes of the country offering the B.Sc. PMCs programme. The institute boasts of a fantastic faculty and a tie-up with the British Computer Society, UK.

The B.Sc. program encourages problem-solving sessions to develop unique analysis skills. The B.Sc. degree in Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science offered by Jain University is quite good both in terms of academics and placements. Students can also pursue higher studies with this degree.

Infrastructure and Facilities: The outstanding infrastructure of the university includes a vast library, top-notch laboratories, seminar halls, auditorium, gymnasium equipment, etc. Some of the facilities offered by the institute to its students include hostels, auditorium, a variety of sports and games opportunities, etc.

Jain University also promotes Industry-Academia relations which include consultancy assignments, collaborative research, development projects, etc. It has labs well-equipped with new technology.

Scholarships: The institute provides numerous need and merit-based scholarships including the Medha, Eklavya, and Natyaswara scholarships.

Placement Statistics:

• 98.5% of students were placed in top recruiting companies such as Tommy Hilfiger, Honeywell, Deloitte, Morgan Stanley, etc.

• The highest package offered was INR 30 LPA and the average package offered was INR 7 LPA.

Notable Alumni: The university boasts of stellar alumni, which includes the likes of K.L. Rahul (Indian Cricketer), Rohan Bopanna (Tennis Player), Rakesh Manpat (Indian Shooter), Robin Uthappa (Indian cricketer), and many more.

Interested students must look at all the aspects of the institute and the program before deciding. One must keep in mind their academic merit, future academic and career plans, personal expectations, and disposition while choosing an institute for themselves.

The general preference is that none of the two colleges is a feasible option for pursuing B.Sc (Chemistry). The reasons behind this are listed separately below for both the colleges:

• Xavier’s is not a good option for chemistry. The faculty is not equipped in teaching in-depth concepts. They do not provide the requisite exposure for broadening a student's knowledge base.
• A general tendency of faculties is that they don’t recommend books. A huge amount of knowledge is gained by using internet sources which in turn makes them dependent on electronic sources.
• Internal politics is also an inevitable element of the campus culture. A lot of distraction is inherent in the day-to-day activities.
• Jadavpur University also gives very less exposure in terms of the knowledge base.
• A large amount of attention is focused on internal politics which hampers the educational and professional growth of the candidates.

Both the colleges reflect quite a dismal picture for this particular course, but even if the choice has to be made it will shift towards Xavier’s Kolkata as in:

• It is the only NAAC Accredited A++ institute in West Bengal making your degree more reputed and acceptable. It will provide larger scope for better career options in the market.
• It allows individuals to look out to different personality domains of a candidate as it gives opportunity in the form of various cultural & social events.

Overall, Xavier’s is a better option than Jadavpur University in every aspect.

Both colleges are great options for studying statistics. 

Presidency University has a glorious history and the department of Statistics is one of the best departments. The university has great alumni which makes it score higher in terms of ‘Heritage’. One of the most famous names among them is P.C. Mahalanobis. There are dedicated faculty members like Prof. BR and Prof. PD, who is an alumnus himself. 

One of my friends has Statistics as his electives but he never got the chance to be taught by these reputed faculty members. Students are highly dedicated and excels in their respective university exams.

Graduates from this college pursued post-graduate studies from reputed universities like ISI, CMI, IMSc, etc. If you have Honours in Statistics with Mathematics and Economics, then it will be a great combination.

In terms of environment, you will get a sense of freedom at Presidency and a change to form a opinion on various aspects of life. However, St. Xavier’s College is also good but it is very strict and you will get a feel of school there. It is known for its discipline while Presidency University is know for its creativity.
