I pursued my B.Tech Mechanical from SVNIT, thus, I can only comment on my college.
The faculty of the mechanical department is top notch. Majority of our teachers are highly driven. It is because of them that mechanical is the most famous branch of our college. Our teachers emphasize practical knowledge over mere theoretical understanding. Many of them have more than 10 years of experience in teaching. The department has enough professors, so very few courses are taken by TAs. The faculty is very helpful for projects and research work.
The curriculum for B.Tech Mechanical is very rich, and you’ll get to choose one elective per semester in the 3rd and 4th year. You can choose courses from other branches as well. You can choose management courses, programming courses, physics related courses, automobile courses, etc. SVNIT is probably the only college that teaches its students topics like Mechatronics, Computational fluid mechanics (CFD), Cryogenics, etc. at the UG level itself.
Unfortunately, like most other colleges, our practical syllabus and lab equipment needs to be upgraded. The labs do not contain equipment of the latest technology. The workshop contains all conventional and non conventional machines like lathe, shoper, milling, grinding, welding, abrasive jet machine, EDM, 3-D printer, etc.
As far as B.Tech Mechanical at SVNIT is concerned, I would say it is quite a decent option.
Honestly speaking, BIT Mesra is nowhere near the IITs and top NITs. It can however be compared to other NITs like NIT Rourkela, Jamshedpur. Surat, etc.
The institute is known to have excellent campus facilities but the opportunities in core branches are limited. BIT Mesra is a brand name well-known among private colleges. It can be compared to the new IITs to a little extent and is even better than VIT and Manipal University. The only drawback is that getting a high GPA here is quite challenging.
Nevertheless, BIT Mesra is a decent choice for many if you consider the following points
Ultimately, BIT Mesra is better than most NITs but not at par with IITs and a few top NIT.
NIT Rourkela has very good infrastructure, placements, rankings and facilities. It has a legacy of its own. But it can not be compared with NIT Trichy as of yet. Perhaps a few years down the line, Rourkela will reach the level of Trichy. But as of now, Trichy is the best among all NITs. NIT Trichy has much higher placement stats than NIT Rourkela.
You should choose NIT Rourkela over NITT only if you get a very good branch or a core branch at the former, and a not so good branch at the latter.
Every person will have a different opinion on what advice work best for freshers. Instead of giving you a list of things to follow, I will suggest you just focus on 3 key points
Overall, you need a highly positive mindset before joining IIT. You need to be passionate about things and be ready to work hard and achieve them.
Yes, IIT BHU is better than IIT Indore in terms of infrastructure, alumni base, research exposure.
NTTF recently declared that Lincoln University College (LUC), Malaysia has offered BE program for its alumni network. The requirements are a diploma qualification, alongside at least 3 years of work experience.
Here are some of the program highlights you must not miss,
If the requirements meet, you can undeniably be shortlisted.
One of my friends was with NTTF as a Training officer for 4.5 years. During the training, he enhanced his core strength in tool engineering, shop floor basics, design processes, hydraulics pneumatics, and even robotics engineering.
According to him, the best part of the training was that he got to clear his theoretical knowledge and apply them practically during his training. If your basics are clear and you can express them properly then you will certainly get decent opportunities at the institute.
Currently, he is working with Jindal Steel in a new role. His training from NTTF has helped him prepared for the new challenges that come with the job.
Recently, UGC stated that only Full-time Phd courses will be Valid and distance PhD is no more valid. The new full-time Ph.D. course will be delivered through the New Delhi main Campus of IGNOU. This change in itself has raised the worth and credibility of a Ph.D. from IGNOU. Here are a few Ph.D. programs offered in regular mode by IGNOU
Moreover, IGNOU is the largest open university in the world, so the credibility of any degree from here cannot be doubted. What actually matters is the level of effort you put into research in the concerned field. Try to earn your degree and not just get one.
PGDDA by IIIT Bangalore and UpGrad is one of the best online courses for Data Analytics. Here are some reasons why you can consider taking this course-
This is a good course, and I would personally recommend you take it.
The detailed fee structure of IIT Bombay is as follows
Particulars |
Data |
Yearly Fees |
INR 54600 |
Hostel Fees |
17.25k/- year |
Unless you study in an IIT, you will never understand how much the Government invests in an IITian. The semester fees along with hostel fees are more than 20-30k.
The students who got admission through GATE, receive a monthly stipend of around 15k which compensates for the meager fees spent. You can spend the rest of the money on your expenses. Moreover, all the essential commodities are made available on campus that too at reasonable rates. So one can even say that you are studying free of cost with money from the tax-paying public.
