Coming to the second part of your question, Both colleges have different merit lists. If you don't do well in NM Mumbai rounds, you still stand a chance to convert your NM Bangalore/Hyderabad call, provided you’ve applied for a PGDM course as well.
NMIMS PGDM in Business Analytics is one of the most coveted programs recently owing to its vast prospects. The industries this program caters to include
Some major roles and responsibilities of the Job prospects of Business Analytics are given below.
Business Analyst (Manager/Consultant)
Business Analyst (Individual Contributor)
Data Miner/Modeller (Manager/ Individual Contributor)
Data Scientist (Individual Contributor/ Consultant)
Going through the details of the roles and responsibilities of Business Analysts, you can go for the one that suits you the most.
Compared to other entrance exams, NMAT is a relatively easier one. But because most students that sit for NMAT want to get into NMIMS so the competition is tough. So just getting across the cutoff is not sufficient, you need to aim for the highest.
The other aspects of the admission process through NMAT include
One needs to keep certain points regarding NMAT in mind. Firstly an excellent score does not guarantee admission. You have to ace the CD and PI rounds as well. But overall the chances of conversion are high due to high intake provided that you perform well in CD and PI. Separate rounds of CD and PI are held for Core and HRM. Also, NMIMS has a 30% reservation for girls.
Some tips that will increase your chances of conversion to NMIMS are
SOP: Your Statement of Purpose should clearly state why MBA, that too from NMIMS. It should state valid reasons as to why you should be selected over other students by mentioning your unique traits.
Case Discussion: The Case Discussion round is more to analyze your personality than your knowledge. So follow the rules throughout and give 2-3 solid points and give others an equal opportunity. Don't validate your opinion rudely at all.
Personal Interview: The interview is usually conducted by 3 panelists. If you have work experience, you will be questioned regarding that. For instance your role in your previous company and achievements. They will also question your goals after your MBA and which industry you have chosen and why. To stay on the safer side, be well-versed in current affairs. Also, don’t lose your calm at any given moment.
Placements at NMIMS Mumbai are overall good and they are especially appealing in the finance domain. Like any other B school, NMIMS also projects an optimistic view of the salary figures that are sometimes slightly inflated but they are not factually wrong.
Connecting with past NMIMS students can get you a better idea of the actual figures. I also contacted my friend who was in the NMIMS 2016 batch. The average CTC around that time was 12 LPA which was pretty good considering the huge batch size of core MBA. The highest CTC that year stood at 32 LPA whereas the lowest stood at 8-8.5 LPA.
Sector-wise, the average CTC of Marketing was higher than the institute's average. In addition due to lower strength in Operations, they also fared well in placements. The students in Operations were able to get the desired job easily. The placements did not face any major issue except that the in the last round packages offered were as low as 8-10 LPA when around 100 students were left unplaced.
International roles were offered by Goldman Sachs, GE, Aliaxis group & few other companies. But the postings were mostly short-term in nature wherein you have to spend 3-3 months only.
Overall I think the placements are decent but might deteriorate with the increasing batch size and fees.
NMIMS is deemed to be a University owning 17 specialized schools, more than 17000 students, and 750 plus full-time faculty members. The College offers a vast array of PG and Doctoral programs in Management studies such as MBA, E-MBA, PGDM, and Ph.D. along with a few UG, Diploma, and PG diploma programs. Known for its MBA/PGDM program, the NMIMS Mumbai is AICTE accredited and has been ranked 25th by NIRF in 2022 in the management category. NMIMS Mumbai programs are nationally and internationally accredited by NBA, NAAC, AMBA, SAQS, and the Bureau of Indian Standards. Some major highlights of this elite institute are as follows

NMAT
NMAT is an easy paper compared to other entrance exams but the competition is tough as most students attempting NMAT want to get into NMIMS. So an overall good profile can increase your chances of admission.
My friend was an Engineering fresher student at NMIMS and was very satisfied with the placements of freshers at NMIMS.
Summer placements
During the summer placements freshers are most preferred by sales and marketing companies, especially FMCGs. Even big finance companies hire freshers. The students whether freshers or work experience are preferred on the basis of the individual requirements of the companies which keep changing. So the placement is proportionate and no distinction is made.
Final placements
The final placements take place in 2 stages. The lateral placements are for 24 months and then executive placements are for people having less than 2 years of experience.
Packages offered
During the summer placements, freshers are offered PPOs which are hefty packages. However, for Final Placements, companies do consider work experience and thus experienced ones tend to land better packages than freshers. But the entire scenario is quite unpredictable as I have seen freshers receive the highest package as well as the lowest package. Placements depend on your overall profile which includes your grades and your luck too!
The following answer is based on my brother’s experience at NMIMS and may vary from person to person depending on their own personal expenses and standard of living. The table below shows the NMIMS MBA fee structure.
Particulars |
Data |
Total Fees |
INR 23.90 Lakhs |
Hostel fees (Non-Refundable) |
INR 2,25,000- 3,00,000 |
Hostel fees (Refundable) |
INR 10,000 |
From the above data the approximate cost is 26-27 Lakhs. The additional expenses like hanging out, fares, and miscellaneous activities can amount to 1 Lakh.
Now let’s consider you staying in a flat and not a hostel. The MBA fees remain the same. But the living expenses are considerably cut down. My friend lives in a flat with 5 people and shared her average expenses.
The total expenses including tuition fees amount to 30-33 Lakhs. I think it’s better to go to a hostel than to a flat.
Most part-time courses carry no real value other than adding the post-graduate tag. They have no worth in the corporate world irrespective of whichever reputed college you have chosen. NMIMS is one of the top reputed B Schools in India and has a big brand name.
I know a friend who chose NMIMS Executive MBA and paid hefty fees just for the brand name instead of doing the same course at a less popular B School. She regretted her decision and claimed the program to be a total waste of money and time. She said she could have done the same from another B School at half the cost. So part-time MBA itself is not that worthless, but paying a hefty sum merely for the brand name and postgraduate tag is illogical. You can do the same program at a much lesser cost than other B Schools.
Comparing NMIMS to the old IIMs like A, B, C, K, I, and L is completely illogical so let’s not do that. NMIMS Mumbai Campus is still comparable to the new IIMs in certain aspects. It is slightly better than new IIMs. Some points that favor this statement are
Therefore the excellent bridging of theoretical knowledge and practical approach makes it one of the most coveted B Schools in India.
NMAT has no age limit and is open to freshers as well. The only eligibility criteria is an Education pattern of 10+2+3/4 years. The new exam pattern and scoring criteria have made it all the easier. NMAT will now be 108 questions and 120 minutes, unlike its earlier pattern of 120 questions and 120 minutes.
The sections will have the same weightage of 36 questions each in terms of the number of questions. But the time allotted to each section has changed.
NMAT has sectional cut-offs, so no section is more or less important. The factors taken into account for final shortlisting and their respective weights are given below

Your NMAT score will have no impact on your Personal Interview. The panelists usually question you on the basis of your CV and the question sheet you filled out while submitting documents. They might also question your GK and knowledge of current affairs. So be prepared for this round as it is a crucial part of the admissions process.
