I got NIT Surathkal ECE and IIIT Bangalore CSE. I am joining IIIT Bangalore CSE, is it a good decision?
This is a very subjective question. However, as a student of ECE at NIT Surathkal, I am writing down a few points in defense of my degree-
- First of all, NIT Surathkal offers a much more complete and diversified engineering education. This is because you will get to interact with the students of various disciplines from around the institution. This will offer a good exposure in contrast to the IIITs which are entirely focused on CSE and ECE branches.
- ECE is the branch of the future. CSE is turning more and more into a commodity. This is due to the dilution of its educational standards, and the increasing volume of students in this branch.
- As an ECE student, you can always learn programming (it is in fact a part of the curriculum in a limited manner). However, it is much more difficult to learn the concepts of ECE as a CSE student.
- As an ECE student you can be placed in a software company, but as a CSE student you can’t work in the E&C field.
- Both the colleges are good, but NITK holds more prestige because it is much older. Its campus is very impressive as well.
But even IIIT Bangalore CSE is a great option. Once you’ve made a decision, stop seeking others’ opinions. Instead, work on your skill enhancement. Considering the sheer lack of core jobs in the electronics sector in India and the huge placement opportunities in the IT sector, your choice is good from a placement point of view.
How is the life at NMIMS, Mumbai? Is pursuing MBA from there worth it?

How much salary an alteryx developer with 2 years of experience and a rank holder in Mtech from Karunya university working in top MNC should be getting as per market standards?
This is a very subjective question.
- Developers in IT companies such as Infosys and TCS can expect a salary in the range of INR 4 – 6 LPA with this work experience.
- Developers in small product companies can expect a salary of INR 5 – 8 LPA.
- Developers in large product companies with a study background from any tier-1 or tier-2 college can expect a salary of around INR 9 – 12 LPA.
Generally, IITs are considered Tier-1 colleges, NITs are considered Tier-2 colleges, and all other private engineering colleges are considered tier-3 colleges. Also, college ranks do not really matter during placements or later in your work life. It is only valuable till your college life.
With the economy getting stagnant due to the pandemic-related slowdowns, opportunities are very limited and the existing roles also have a very limited scope of any major salary hike. So make your expectations accordingly.
How is the campus selection of a student in KIIT? Should we join KIIT as a good college or not?
Campus placements are good for CS and IT students at KIIT. The university offers good facilities and faculty. It provides ample exposure to the students so that they can develop and enhance their personalities. The university authorities are very strict about academics. They give a lot of importance to lecture attendance and grades of the students.
This makes KIIT a good choice for sincere students. Plus, KIIT is better ranked than most other colleges in its close vicinity. Some of the top recruiters of KIIT University are Accenture, Adani Wilmar, Amazon, HCL Technologies, Capgemini, KPMG, etc.

What are the reviews of ISME Mumbai? They offer a course in Entrepreneurship. Is it worth doing?
There are some significant challenges that ISME faces as doing drugs among students is very common. Entrepreneurship or life in general, students in the class aren't interested in learning as they think that networking or making high profile contacts is much more necessary. The culture is way too casual and ISME seems to be okay with all of it, just to brand itself as new age and open-minded.
Entrepreneurship :
One is an entrepreneur not because of the degree certificate decorated with fancy affiliations of foreign schools, but only because of what he created. Fundamentally, as they are supposed to build things. If the student won't have the joy of building things then he isn't an entrepreneur. The students can get positively involved, to get things right from the start.
Education:
- ISME doesn't teach any real management or finance. They negotiate and give hefty discounts in the name of scholarships.
- In the name of practical knowledge, academic basics are sidelined.
Placements:
- The industry gets irritated by the students' behaviour. They are often considered pampered.
- The average salary package offered is 3-8 LPA.
- Companies like Schbang, Krypton, Litmus World, Aditya Birla, StyleCracker, Raw Pressery, Snackible, etc. participated in their placement program.
Infrastructure:
- If you're pulled by the infrastructure, you simply aren't an entrepreneur. Never judge a book by its cover. This should be the least of your concerns.
Overall, one should opt for this college as it's worth a lesson. One would at least get to know that most of the things that look great from the outside are hollow inside. Things that are great from the inside are usually shabby from the outside. The superficial world created by the college, by conducting motivational speakers and foreign executives takes students nowhere in life.
Is it worth going for an MBA in operations management from K J Somaiya, I have a work ex of 39 months in operations in a consumer electronics company?
KJ Somaiys MBA in Operations Management isn’t worth pursuing if you have more than 39 months of experience. The career opportunities offered won’t do justice to your experience. It’s better if you look for better B-Schools. NITIE Mumbai can be a good option for you. You will be able to job opportunities according to your experience. NITIE Mumbai placements are great. According to the recent placement drive, the average CTC offered was INR 35.84 LPA.
What branch can I get in SP or KJ Somaiya with 140 in the MH CET 2022?
You can get any branch at KJ Somaiya with 140 in MH CET 2022, if you have Gujrati minority. But if you are a general category student, getting branches like CSE/IT will be difficult with 140 scores. These are among the most opted branches and KJ Somaiya Cutoff remains above 150-160 for CSE/IT (general category).
I read in some posts that IVRI is not good enough for UG for the best skills, but it is good for PG and research only. They said that TANUVAS, GB Pant, GADVASU, etc. are good UG. Is it true?
If talking about IVRI, then there are over 240 scientists conducting research work in different fields. Here are some important facts that you may find useful:
- If these are the same candidates, pursuing several research projects and academic activities in the PG course, then they also do the same for UG courses as well.
- Mainly, the reason behind this is the clinic was extended and also offered several amenities when the UG courses were first introduced in IVRI.
- The infrastructure of IVRI is well established.
- One of my friends, who belonged from the Physiology department once mentioned having access to over 17 microscopes for a student limit of around 24.
- The fee program of IVRI is minimal, with the provision of a variety of scholarship options.
- The hostels, library, and mess are equally satisfactory.
- There are no strict restrictions imposed upon students.
- During your stay, you will be part of having a great exposure, while still greatly having access to each lab and scientists conducting research works.
- Every batch has maintained the legacy of the institute by evidently showcasing better results each time.
- There are several students who secured good scores in the JRF exams, while a few students obtained seats in IVRI again through AIQ ICAR.
- One of the seniors has recently also established a successful startup after acquiring a grant of 30 lacs from IVRI itself.
- There are students who also recently qualified for the Rajasthan VO examination by both securing high scores in the written test and exams other than that.
- Along the lines, some of the seniors are also using Agribusiness with a salary of almost INR 50,000 per month.
It is one of the best institutes to pursue a UG course likewise. Thus, make an informed decision after analyzing every detail.

One of my friends studied at SIES College of Management. He said it is a deep-rooted institution situated in Mumbai. SIES till now is regarded as one of the best institutes in Mumbai and people always put their best on this B-school due to the following reasons: -

- The faculties present there are very experienced and also have received their education from the highest institutes.
