What is the admission process for nitie?

YR
Yogita Rathi Posted On : August 13th, 2021

The admission process will differ depending on the course you are applying for. If you are planning on joining PGDIM, here is the basic admission process:

  • Appear for CAT.
  • Write a few essays and pay the fee when the application form for NITIE becomes available.
  • Wait till you get shortlisted as it depends on your CAT percentile, your essays, and finally, your profile.
  • If you get shortlisted, you will have to appear for a group discussion and another personal interview round.
  • If you do really well, you will be given a seat at NITIE or you will be put on a waitlist. If your case is the latter, rest assured. The lists move relatively quickly since a lot of good candidates apply to multiple top b-schools.
  • After you qualify for your admission, you will be given a short window of a few days to pay the fees. Your seat will be confirmed then.
  • Your classes will begin around mid-June.

It is a relatively simple process. Just ensure that you give your best in your essays, the personal interview, and ground discussions rounds. These would be the deal breakers for your admission.

Should I join NITIE in their PGDIE program or wait for PSU?

NK
Neha Kansal Posted On : August 18th, 2021
PGDIE from National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2019)

If you want to pursue a higher degree that too in MBA then go for NITIE. If you have got a call or if you are inclined towards doing a job you can opt for that. It depends completely upon your decision.

I would like to share one of my friend’s experiences, who was in a same dilemma of choosing between one, but ultimately he chose to join NITIE PGDIE.

  • After he joined, he got an offer letter from IOCL as well but he chose to stay at NITIE.
  • The only factors that matter here are time and money.
  • If you want to go for PSUs and would leave this course in the middle or if either of the calls gets converted, then, you would have to compromise the whole year as well as the fee submitted for it.
  • But if you are financially strong, you can consider NITIE as a backup.
  • A lot of people change their minds as my friend did after coming to NITIE. It’s a different life here.

So, in case you don’t make it to the PSUs, then you must know that you can definitely join NITIE which would be completely worth it.

What is the reputation of NITIE (specially in SCM) outside India?

KS
Kinjal Shukla Posted On : August 20th, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2020)

NITIE does not look to build a brand image and does advertising as other B-schools often do. They have confidence in their administration. Their KPIs are very different.

  • NITIE boasts of informal communication, an amazing record of placements, various coaching centers, and a strong network of alumni.
  • It also has a positive effect on the industries and an ever-present social media team.
  • With MOUs with foreign universities and exchange programs between the students and the faculty, NITIE has been consistently amongst the best institutes in the country in both perception and rankings.

Apart from the coaching centers the other factors mentioned previously still somehow are instrumental in making NITIE popular outside India. It enjoys high respect among industries as well. In recent times, many guest lecturers have visited NITIE from foreign abroad.

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : March 15th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

In order to secure admission into NITIE Mumbai, candidates need to meet the minimum GATE cutoff score set by the institute. However, it's important to note that meeting the cutoff score does not guarantee a confirmed seat, as the final selection is based on several other factors such as academic performance, group discussion, and personal interview.

To get an idea of the expected cutoff score for the current year, candidates can refer to the previous year's cutoff score. The expected NITIE cutoff score for GATE varies based on the candidate's category. For General category candidates, the expected GATE score is between 720-760+. For OBC NCL category candidates, the expected GATE score is around 550+. For SC category candidates, the expected GATE score is 500+, while for ST category candidates, the expected GATE score is around 420+.

NITIE Mumbai is a highly reputed institute that offers quality education in the field of Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Management, and other related fields. The institute's focus on providing practical knowledge and industry-relevant skills makes it a top choice for students who wish to excel in their chosen field.

What percentile is needed for PGDISEM in NITIE?

AS
Arpita Sharma Posted On : August 16th, 2021
MBA General Management & Post Graduation in Supply Chain and Operations Management, NITIE (2018)

The minimum percentile to get admission in PGDISEM depends upon the number of applications received. In 2021, the cut-off for General was around 86, for OBC it was around 75 and for SC/ST it was 65.

The batch size is very small which is an advantage here. Only 44 seats are available for this program. The placement drives are quiet and relaxed compared to other branches and there are chances for every student to get shortlisted. Some companies hire students only from PGDISEM courses for certain roles such as EHS and sustainability and the average package offered is very good compared to other branches.

The percentile required to get admission in this course is definitely on the higher side, but the amount of facilities and freedom you get while pursuing this course is a big advantage over other courses.

What should be my preference, IITB IE and OR or NITIE PGDIE? I have a score of 970.

If you want to pursue IEOR, NITIE should be your preferred institute. NITIE is a dedicated institute for IEOR and has a strong placement scenario. Despite the high tuition fee, it offers a better return on investment.

NITIE offers a variety of courses in IEOR, including Operations Research, Supply Chain and Logistics, Decision Sciences and Information Systems, and Manufacturing Systems Engineering. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in the principles and tools of IEOR, as well as practical skills that are highly valued by employers.

One of the biggest advantages of NITIE is its excellent placement record. The institute has a dedicated placement cell that works closely with leading companies to ensure that students get the best job offers. Some of the top companies that visit NITIE for placements include Amazon, Accenture, Tata Motors, and Hindustan Unilever, among others.

While the tuition fee at NITIE is on the higher side, the institute offers a better return on investment than many other colleges. This is because the average salary packages offered to NITIE graduates are quite high. Additionally, the institute offers various scholarships and financial aid programs to eligible students, which can help offset the cost of tuition. In summary, if you are interested in pursuing IEOR, NITIE should be your top choice. The institute offers excellent courses in the field, has a strong placement record, and provides a good return on investment.

What are the technical skills that one should have for getting an admission in NITIE PGDIE?

NS
Nidhi Swargaria Posted On : August 11th, 2021
MBA Industrial Management & General Management, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2018)

One of my friends is pursuing PGDIM at NITIE, and here is his insight regarding admission.

  • He arrived as a fresher from an Electrical and Electronics background. He didn’t have any particular technical skills.
  • The only technical experience he had were his industrial training with a time period of 6 months at a certain chemical firm, his projects based on the transmission of energy via laser, and a few of the academic projects that he completed during the course.

He mentioned the same on his CV. According to him, it is vital that you focus more on the GDPI and GATE score, instead of the technical skills, since you are applying for admission and not a job.

Your technical skills may not be needed in the academic curriculum designed by the institute. However, colleges usually look for a diverse set of students, thus if you have a certain technical skill, then it only might add value to your profile.

How does an MBA from the NITIE influence a placement in Amazon, Accenture or Cognizant?

SB
Shivani Basu Posted On : August 13th, 2021
MBA from National Institute of Industrial Engineering

Not all three companies visit NITIE for campus placements every year. There are many others as well.

Your selection will highly depend on your profile and if you are shortlisted according to the company’s placement process. At NITIE, you will get the opportunity to try and sit for placements of these big names but eventually, it boils down to how well your profile is presented. This definitely has a big role to play.

If you do not get into your dream company using this process, don’t worry. NITIE is known for its huge alumni base. They are present across various sectors and different firms. So you can gain some experience first and then decide to join your dream company via networking a few years down the line.
