Does ISB Hyderabad has management quota?

DP
Diksha Punia Posted On : March 17th, 2021
MA from Delhi University

Institute like ISB Hyderabad does not have a management quota. Admission at this institute is strictly merit-based. They choose students based on their academic record, problem-solving skills, and good attitude. Even if you have a good academic record you still need to do well in the interview, in order to get a seat.

Eligibility Criteria-

  • If you get a GMAT score between 600-780 or a GRE score between 311-335 then it is easy for you to get admitted into ISB's PG program.
  • Apart from this, you should have at least 2 years of work experience.
  • TOEFL or IELTS score is needed too, in case your graduation studies were not in English medium.

ISB looks for students with a balanced profile, and your school and graduation scores will be considered. They should be above average. Only then you'd be called for the interview. You should focus on highlighting your skill and value in your essays because scores will do only so much.

What should I choose, ISB Hyderabad PGP, IIM-A PGPX, INSEAD, Booth Chicago, or LBS?

SJ

To make a choice from any of the colleges, you must judge practically by calculating the net benefit for each school. This is because all the intangible aspects like brand value, networking opportunity, learning, etc will definitely manifest in the expected earning potential after the completion of your MBA.

Firstly, calculate your present earning potential by adding your ‘Current salary’ and expected increase and what is the maximum you can earn in this field (also, how many years it will take?) - Say you can reach up to X in 10 years and then it’s more or less constant.

Now, Calculate the investment for each college -

Cost / Investment = Fees + Stay + exchange program + opportunity cost (current salary * number of months)

ROI after MBA= Expected Salary ranges in the industry you want to work in. What is the maximum earning potential you can reach?

It should be more than X or if it's X in fewer years than your current state, which shows that your investment in that college will be worth it in the future. This way will definitely help you invest in the right place.

How do I get into the ISB Hyderabad? Is 2+ years of experience enough for that?

AS

People with bachelor's degrees or equivalent qualifications can apply for ISB Hyderabad. You will also need a valid GMAT/GRE score. ISB Hyderabad cutoff for GMAT is 600, and for GRE is 311.

You don’t need work experience to be eligible for the course. But having relevant experience of 2 years will certainly help your application.

Can any ISB Hyderabad alumni share his/her experience and academic qualification along with his/her GMAT score?

MA
Manish Acharya Posted On : June 8th, 2021
Studied at Indian School of Business (2019)

One of my friends is an alumnus of ISB Hyderabad from the class of 2010. Before MBA, he had four years of experience in a law firm and credit rating agency. Academically he had pursued LLB after being a B.Com graduate. His GMAT score was 740.

He was called for an interview at the Taj Land's End Mumbai. There were two interviewers in the panel among whom one was an alumnus of the institute.

Here are few questions asked to him during his admission interview:

  • Work profile.
  • Puzzle related to logical analysis.
  • Questions on SEBI and financial regulatory framework.
  • Discussion regarding the Subprime crisis and the role of rating agencies.
  • Rate your performance in this interview on a scale of one to ten.

Overall, the experience was amazing. It was a cordial discussion with a relaxed atmosphere. He was put at ease throughout unlike what people generally expect.

The straight answer is no, you can’t. Also, there is no cutoff system, it all depends on which field you belong to. For example, average GMAT scores may be higher for Indian IT Male because of the competition but relatively less for say artists (Since the number of artists applying is lower).

However, you can check the proper admission procedure for various courses in ISB Hyderabad here.

For PGP:

For PGPMAX:

  • You should possess a minimum of 10 years of full-time work experience as of the date of submitting the application (desired experience is closer to 15 or more years).

Selection Criteria- Application-based

Eligibility-

  • You must hold a university degree from an accredited academic institution. Applicants typically should have an undergraduate/postgraduate degree in areas such as business, economics, engineering, computer sciences, mathematics, physics, or the arts. An MBA or business-focused master's degree is a plus but not mandatory.
  • You must have exceptional verbal communication and written skills
  • 8+ years of professional working experience

For MFAB:

Does age (30 and above) matter for MBA from ISB Hyderabad and latter on the placements?

SZ
Saher Zehra Posted On : March 1st, 2023
Lives in Hyderabad, Telangana, India (2016–present)

If you are above the age of 30 and applying for a job or a graduate program, it is expected that you have a certain level of experience. To be successful in the interview process, it is important to demonstrate maturity and communicate effectively, highlighting the unique value that your experience brings to the table. Recruiters often look for candidates with experience and may be more likely to overlook younger applicants with less experience.

In the case of ISB, many companies that recruit on campus are looking for candidates with 5+ years of work experience. Therefore, if you are a 24-year-old with 2 years of work experience, you may face more competition for certain positions. It is important to research the types of companies and positions that you are interested in and to consider whether your experience aligns with the needs of those companies. This is known as "school research" and it is important to do it before applying.

In summary, when applying for a job or graduate program, it is important to have a clear understanding of the expectations of recruiters and the types of positions you are interested in. By doing research and understanding the needs of the companies and positions you are applying for, you can tailor your application and interview to align with those needs and increase your chances of success. Think logically and don't have expectations without a clear trail of thoughts.
