How is mess food at IIIT Delhi?
Unfortunately, IIIT Delhi's mess food is like any other typical mess food. I have friends in other IITs and I heard from them that their mess food is better. The mess scenes are very chaotic, especially during the day.
There are frequent menu changes but only for the show. No new dishes are added and only the order or serving is changed. They even interchange lunch and dinner and claim this act as updating the menu. The mess app doesn't improve the food quality.
The food served is of substandard quality and the majority of students tend to order their food online. So, be prepared to be disappointed by the IIITD Mess.
Why are IIITs such as IIIT Hyderabad, IIIT Delhi, and IIIT Allahabad so underrated?
The three IIITs mentioned by you, namely IIIT Hyderabad, IIIT Delhi and IIIT Allahabad have no connection with one another. All these institutes are relatively new and have the tag of “Research Institutes” attached to them. These might be an obstacle to their fame. This is because in India, students choose those institutes that promise the best industrial career prospects and not the ones driven by research.
However, because these institutes are research-driven, the quality of their course content is top notch and they attract some of the best faculty. This also works to increase your overall development and opportunities in the industry. The popularity of these institutions is thus growing rapidly.
Therefore, all three institutions are really good choices to pursue your higher studies.

Which is better for CS: IIIT Delhi or NIT Kurukshetra?
Although both IIITs and NITs have a similar brand image, I advise you to keep IIIT Delhi as your first preference. Here are two solid reasons why
- Better campus placements: Generally, Government colleges like IITs and NITs do not approach companies for placements like private colleges. So their placements are usually a result of their brand value and location. That being said, IIIT Delhi has an excellent location and therefore attracts many more companies than NIT Kurukshetra.
- A good environment: The CS-tailored dynamic environment at IIIT Delhi helps improve your aptitude considerably. The crowd at both the colleges might be similar but IIIT Delhi definitely provides a much better exposure outside college.
So the best option for CS is certainly IIIT Delhi.
If NSIT gets placement of 1 crore while IIIT Delhi gts only 33 lakhs per annum, why isn't NSIT better than IIIT Delhi?

- NSIT Delhi has some of the most talented people taking admission here. The 1% of people in AIEEE or JEE-MAINS get to study here. An excellent peer culture helps you gain extra knowledge of life.
- NSIT has a very rich coding culture and has produced some of the best coders. Online coding is common here and people can be seen involved in Codechef, SPOJ, Codeforces, and TopCoder.

- The syllabus is outdated, obsolete, and fails to meet industry trends.
- The faculty is pretty demotivated and has no interest in teaching. You will have to resort to self-study most of the time and seek help from your seniors.
- Being a government college, getting some administrative work done is a big task. The results are often full of errors and approaching the administration and getting your query solved is difficult.
- The research culture is pathetic here and the faculty do nothing to promote it among students. In fact, it’s difficult to even approach them for a project.
Overall, the institute offers a plethora of opportunities, especially in the IT sector but the quality of academics is a bit on the average side. As for your question, the yearly compensation is not 1 crore but much less. The figures are misleading and pay us just like what Google would pay in India around INR 24-25 LPA.

Surprisingly, even NSUT Delhi gets enough offers from Google so placements have nothing to do with the curriculum you have studied. NSUT students are all-round coders whereas IIIT Delhi students are proficient only in competitive coding. Even the number of students getting into IIMs is more for NSUT than IIIT Delhi.
So, NSUT is much better than IIIT Delhi because of the crowd quality and education.

Overall, I will suggest freshers who are certain of pursuing a career in research in computers or communication, signal processing, etc to join IIIT Delhi but if you are uncertain about your inclination, choose NSIT Delhi. What is the saddest part of IIIT Delhi?
The saddest part of IIIT Delhi is its poor reputation and deteriorating brand name. It’s still unknown among the masses because it’s a developing institute. Moreover, the additional I in IIIT stands for Indraprastha and not International so this is also a big disappointment.
Most people confuse IIIT Delhi with IIT Delhi because the former is unknown while the latter is highly reputed. The sad part is that IIIT Delhi is an excellent college in terms of academics, infrastructure, and highly qualified faculty members. But its brand name and reputation have affected its growth terribly.
