All six universities are well established institutes providing the computer science industry with excellent graduates that excel in their fields of choice. While the information provided below is mainly based on placements, fee structure and eligibility, students can consider other parameters like faculty, course focus areas and rankings.

Placements and focus areas:

Chitkara University:

• The university focuses on practical and hands on experience with topics like cloud computing and algorithm design in the course.
• Top recruiters include Google, Wipro, iGate, Emerson and Cognizant, etc. with a highest package of INR 29.3 LPA.

LPU:

• Students will learn topics in machine learning and programming along with digital electronics.
• Companies including Bosch, Intel, Comptia are top recruiters and a high package of INR 28 LPA.

SRM University NCR:

• Course includes C & C++ programming, hardware and networking with angular JS.
• Companies like KPGM, Capegemini, Hitachi and Microsoft recruit students annually and the highest salary offered was INR 16 LPA.

CGC Landran:

• Various principles, analysis techniques and management of information system including hardware and software will be taught.
• Organizations like TCS, LG Soft, Infosys, Samsung hire students annually with INR 35 LPA being the highest package offered.

Chandigarh University:

• The program focuses on topics of data visualization, data mining, deep learning and pattern recognition.
• Companies visiting the institute include Wipro, Verizon, Dell, HCL, etc. The highest package offered is INR 30 lakhs per annum.

PES University:

• Students will learn cross disciplinary topics in the fields of wireless communications, internet and other subjects.

• Accenture, HCL, Infosys and Wipro are some popular companies visiting the institute every year with INR 40 LPA being the highest package offered.

Students can also consider the average package offered at each institute along with other aspects mentioned above in order to choose between the six colleges.

Lovely Professional University (LPU), Chandigarh University and Chitkara University are well known in Punjab and offer good Electronics and Communication Engineering courses. Every university has its own pros and cons. 

Lovely Professional University:

According to NIRF Rankings 2019 LPU is ranked at 87th amongst the top engineering institutes of India. The total course fee for Electronics and Communication Engineering is 6.05 lakhs. The ECE department has a well-planned infrastructure, with facilities such as a central library, research databases, and well-equipped laboratories.

LPU has Industry Certification, Workshops, MOOCS, Hackathons, Live Projects as a part of the course curriculum. LPU also has international collaborations through which students can join partner universities abroad for the completion of the course after successfully completing 2 years of the course.

Almost 90% of the ECE students get placed in the campus placement. In 2019 the highest placement package offered was 42 LPA. More than 250 companies hire students from LPU.

Chandigarh University:

Chandigarh University is ranked 117th among the engineering colleges in India by NIRF. The total course fee for ECE at CU is 6.4 lakhs. ECE department has signed more than 250 MoUs with international universities. The faculties of the department are well-experienced and most of them have PhDs from reputed universities. The laboratories of the department are well-equipped with industry-level tools such as Cadence, QualNet, OptiSim, etc. The university also conducts certified programs by Microsoft, Wipro, Python, IIT Bombay and more.

The placement for ECE at CU is quite impressive. In 2019 campus placement more than 37 companies recruited a total of 628 ECE students. The highest placement package offered to the students of ECE was 10 LPA.

Chitkara University:

The course fee for ECE at Chitkara University is 6.6 LPA. The university gives emphasis on group works and projects to enhance understanding of the subject.

The placement statistics of the university reveals, the highest salary package offered to the student was Rs. 31 lakhs. More than 500 companies hire students from Chitkara University. 

As for which university will be the best choice among these three for pursuing To Electronics and Communication Engineering depends on the student and what they are looking for and expects from a college.

Chitkara university Rajpura is a globally recognized organization promoting academic excellence through entering disciplinary applied research. The university offers various undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs. The college provides a BE program in CSE and the total course fee is 9.9 lakhs. The admission is through JEE Main.

Chitkara university Baddi is a very famous nonprofitable university in North India. It is approved by UGC and accredited by NAAC with a’ B’ Grade. The BE CSE program at the institute costs around 5.6 lakhs. The admission is based on the performance of the students in JEE Main.

Faculty:

Chitkara University, Rajpur:

• The faculty at the Department of Computer Science and engineering at Chitkara university Rajpura are very helpful and they are alumni of prestigious universities.

• Almost all the faculty members hold a Ph.D. in their respective fields.

Chitkara university Baddi:

• The faculty at the department of CSE in Chitkara university Baddi is very well qualified.

• Maximum of the faculty members are Ph.D. holders in their field. Teachers are friendly and guide students for their overall development.

Placements:

Chitkara University, Rajpur:

• Placement drive at Chitkara university Rajpura is known to welcome prominent recruiters such as Google, Amazon, Infosys, Samsung, Fortis, oracle, Adobe, Bharat petroleum, Aditya Birla group, HDFC, Taj Hotels, Tata, Mahindra, etc.

• The highest package 2019 placements were 32 lacs per annum.

• Around 90% of students from the engineering stream got placed.

Chitkara university Baddi:

• Almost 80 to 90% of students got a place from Chitkara university Baddi. The highest salary package offered varies from 16 to 17 lacs per annum.

• Mass recruiting companies like TCS, Wipro, Infosys visit the college frequently.

• Around 500 companies visited the campus to offer placements to students in last year’s placement drive.

Infrastructure:

Chitkara University, Rajpur:

• Chitkara university Rajpura provides Wi-Fi in every department and the classrooms with the capacity to hold 60 students.

• Different libraries are available for different departments.

Chitkara university Baddi:

• Infrastructure at Chitkara University Baddi is also good. Wi-Fi is available in each part of the university.

• The laboratories are well-equipped to carry out academic and research works.

The details discussed above, about the two Universities, will help you in making a decision as to which college you must opt to. However, the requirements are to be considered like the fee structure and eligibility to ensure your chances of getting admitted.

For CSE, Chitkara University is a great option. A relative of mine recommended Chitkara University to me. According to him, Chitkara University charges 80,000 a year and every rupee is worth it. Here are some highlights about the institution: 

• In Chitkara University, the strength of each batch is approximately 800. You should not get scared or demotivated seeing the number of students in your Batch because competition will make the journey better for you. 
• You must concentrate on your coding skills and the coding exams are held online on *hackerrank*. It will be fun once you master it. It takes a lot of brains to solve each question. Personal attention is provided to each and every student.
•  Every group consists of 15 students and every such group is led by one mentor. 

• TedX talks , Inlingua Classes , Toastmasters, etc., are taught in order to develop the skills of the students. 

Other than that, the college has all kinds of sports from Basketball, Cricket, Badminton and Snooker. Therefore, it can be concluded that you should opt for Chitkara University as it is truly worth it.

Sharda University and Chitkara University have been ranked 151 out of the top 200 universities in India by NIRF 2020. Whereas, LPU has been ranked 99 for overall by NIRF.

Sharda University-

It offers graduation, post-graduation, research programs, and certificate courses.

• Admissions in BTech is done by JEE mains or UPSEE or SUAT, BArch is done by JEE mains/ NATA/ UPSEE, MTech is done by GATE or NET/ MBA is done by SUAT/ CAT/ MAT/ XAT, MDS, MS, MD is done by NEET, Ph.D. is done by University entrance exam score or UGC/ CSIR( JRF)/ NET/ GATE.

• Admissions in all other undergraduate and postgraduate programs are merit-based.

• The minimum eligibility criteria for an undergraduate degree is 10+2 from a recognized board with 60% and for the post-graduate degrees, it is a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.

LPU-

LPU offers more than 200 programs.

• The admission in Engineering is done by JEE mains or LPUNEST, MBA is done by CAT/ XAT/ MAT, Ph.D. is done by LPUNEST.

• Admissions to various undergraduate courses are done by LPUNEST and various diploma degrees are done based on merit.

• The minimum eligibility criteria for an undergraduate degree is 10+2 from a recognized board with 60% and for a post-graduate degree, it is a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.

Chitkara University-

Chitkara University has 12 schools in various fields comprising more than 13000 students.

• The admissions for BE is based on JEE mains, B.Arch is done by JEE mains and NATA, MBA is done by CAT/ MAT/ NMAT/ XAT/ CMAT, ME is done by entrance test, Ph.D. is done by GPAT/UGC NET/ CSIR NET. Admissions in other undergraduate courses are merit-based.

• The minimum eligibility criteria for an undergraduate degree is 10+2 from a recognized board with 60% and that of post-graduate degree is a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.

The placement records for the institutes are mentioned below.

Amazon, iGate, Wipro, Audi, HDFC Bank, IBM are some of the major recruiters at these institutes.

Sharda University, LPU, Chitkara University offers almost equal average placement. Candidates can opt for any of them according to their will and preference.

Chitkara University popularly known as CU can be reviewed on a set of parameters. The parameters range from academics to infrastructure and focus most importantly on placements provided in the last educational year.

• ACADEMICS

The university stands at a desirable position when it comes to academics. It caters to 13000 students. The student-faculty ratio is 1:6. Engineering is the best option as students not having an above-average JEE score can also land up at a good stream in the university. The university has reputed international collaborations with leading institutes across the globe. Some institutes are University Of Florida, U.S.A, Deakin University, Australia, etc.

• PLACEMENTS

Placements have been quite good in recent year in all the domains of the university, but engineering has been the major attractive domain. The percentage-wise division of placements is mentioned below:

There have been around more than 500 recruiters with 50 international offers. The highest package stands around Rs.31 LPA whereas the average is about Rs. 6 LPA. A number of startups were also being encouraged.

There have been more than 150 offers, which cater to the range above Rs. 10 LPA. The major recruiters are Microsoft, Google, Oracle, Amazon, IBM, Quick Heal, Bank of America, etc. Mechanical and civil engineering students also got offers from top players like JCB, Renault-Nissan, DLF, Lafarge, etc.

• FEES & ACCOMMODATION

Being a private university; CU charges a reasonable amount. The most preferred course B.E., a 4-year course stands around Rs. 7 lakh (accommodation included). The accommodation facilities are up to the mark with all proper resources.

• CAMPUS LIFE & SCHOLARSHIP

There is no such scholarship provided by the university, but it offers scholarships to achievers that scored good positions in JEE mains. Campus life is great offering good opportunities to explore the state and its culture.
The Chitkara University in a nutshell is a good option provided the individual is satisfied with the details.

Both Chitkara and CGC Landran are at the same level. As far as placements are concerned, both of them offer excellent placements with well-developed placement cells.

UPES is definitely more concentrated on petroleum and chemical engineering. It also has some unique courses and a really good reputation and you will get to learn a lot. Fees might be a little expensive though.

My advice to you would be to not choose electronics and communication engineering at either of them because placements are not that great and you don’t want to end up with CSE students and learn coding in the last few months of your college.

While the fees for UPES are quite high, you can expect to get a similar return on your investment. At the same time, you will not be pestered for admissions like in my brother’s case with regards to CGC Landran and CU. The faculty at UPES is very good too.
