I have a friend studying at this University for B.Tech program. So, I can give you authentic insights about the Bangalore and Coimbatore campus on the basis of his reviews. The university offers B.Tech in various specializations like CSE, EEE, ME, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering.

For admission to the B.Tech course, the fee structure depends upon the campus you choose. The details are below for the two main campuses, Coimbatore and Bangalore.

Fee (per year)

Coimbatore Campus

Bangalore Campus

Tuition Fee

INR 1,65,000

INR 1,42,000

Hostel Fee

INR 64,000

INR 64,000

Overall, the fees between the two campuses vary slightly, i.e., by INR 30,000 approximately. The fee increases every year and it might have changed from the above figures. There are two more campuses of the university, one in Chennai and another in Amritapuri.

How does Amrita Coimbatore compare to SRM Katangalathur for CSE?

SV
Shalini Verma Posted On : June 27th, 2021
B.Tech Chemical Engineer from Amrita University (2016)

Amrita Coimbatore and SRM Katangalathur are excellent institutes and are listed among the best private institutes in the country. Both the institute have certain advantages, which makes them the right choice for students of specific types. But, Amrita University is somewhat considered to be a better option among the two.

The points below state the advantages of both the institutes, which would help students, make a choice between the two.

  • In terms of academics and placement of students, Amrita University stands out among the two by a considerable amount. It offers better placements to students, especially in branches like Computer Science and Engineering.
  • The overall student life is much better in SRM than that in Amrita Coimbatore. The in-campus facilities in SRM are world-class, which offers better living standards for students.
  • Students in Amrita University have to study a lot and are said to spend their four years of engineering in a lot of hardship. The institute and its faculties almost force the students to perform well in academics.

Therefore, having the most positive factors into account, Amrita University is a better choice among the two for a degree in Computer Science and Engineering.

What are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at Amrita University?

UV
Ulaash Vattam Posted On : July 9th, 2021
B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering & Culture of India, Amrita University (2020)

The first year can be considered a cakewalkif you are well versed in the subjects taught in the 11th and 12th standards.

  • There is an additional topic called Auto CAD for which you would require a little bit of imagination.
  • The curriculum has Cultural studies and it is a very nice subject. It would be probably the best and knowledgeable course taught in the 1st year of college.
  • When it comes to the marking scheme, score well in the quizzes and the periodical tests. They would prove to be a very good asset for you in the future. Try to maintain a good SGPA over 9.
  • The college faculty is very strict about the attendance criteria, keep that in mind.
  • Transfer from one branch to another can happen upon request but you must score good marks in your first year. Preferably a score above 9.0 SGPA can help make the transfer process easier for you.
  • The seniors are considered to be very respectable people here at the college. Just respect them enough if and only they deserve the respect.

I think this much information would be enough for a first-year student, the rest of the experiences that you will have would be experienced by you.

Is NIT Tadepalligudam better than Amrita?

SH
Saboor Ul Haq Posted On : April 22nd, 2021
B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar (2019)

It is quite unreachable and good faculty is not available too for teaching on time. My sister studies at one of the old NITs which are much better as far as networking and alumni support are concerned; they are better than the NIT you're enquiring about. Its ranking is not clearly available on major ranking platforms also.

Apart from this, you may want to note these down-

  • Do not select any of the following NIT campuses: Andhra Pradesh, Mizoram, Puducherry, Goa, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim.
  • NIT Andhra Pradesh was established in September 2015 and hence, there's a dearth of good companies and excellent jobs.
  • If you're moving there from another state, then I'd advise you to spare the effort because the crowd is not very bright.
  • The central government has not made any provision for the allocation of funds for NIT Andhra Pradesh, but you'd find that huge sums have been invested in IIT Hyderabad and NIT Warangal.

However, NIT is still in its developing phase, it has the potential to become as successful as its other namesakes but being new, permanent faculty is still to be recruited, some equipment is missing too, but being dedicated you might excel even there.

Now, I hope you'd understand that there are much better institutes in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana like JNTUH, JNTUK, IIT Hyderabad, IIIT Hyderabad etc. Well-known companies would actually like to recruit from these institutions rather than from NIT AP.

How is chemical engineering at Amrita?

IR
Indrani Raha Posted On : June 22nd, 2021
B.Tech Chemical Engineering & Materials Science and Engineering, Amrita University (2019)

One of my cousins studied at Amrita. According to him, chemical engineering at Amrita is superior and advanced in comparison with other colleges.

  • The faculty is highly knowledgeable with a doctorate degree. Classes are conducted in the most interesting and pleasant way that’ll work on enhancing the skills of students.
  • Although the resources are made available to the students based on their field of interest, it is on them to drill into all of it.
  • The better they have an understanding of the provided resources the more developed their skills are.
  • Moreover, the department encourages the students to take part in various projects that help them in obtaining a spot in internship and training programs.

However, the students do not get placements in core companies on their completion of UG course. Acquiring a job after higher studies would be less of a hassle. UG here would be a great choice.

What happens in the Orientation Day at Amrita University, Coimbatore?

AD
Anuj Dhar Posted On : June 19th, 2021
M.Tech from Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India (2018)

There is nothing much special at the orientation day of Amrita University.

There will be a first come first serve procedure followed, so try to be there at the right time. Firstly they will check all your documents and then there will be an introductory speech by management about the rules and regulations, do's and don'ts and some information to the parents. They will also mention the parental portal through which they can monitor all your activities in the college like your attendance, your periodical marks, and semester grades.

They will also highlight the fact that there is no ragging in the college which is completely true. There are no such ragging scenes as shown in some movies as the seniors here are very friendly and supportive in nature. They will also tell the students to note down some helpline numbers and websites of Amrita.

The HOD and class advisor of every department will speak about their department and clarify all your doubts. And after all these, there will be complimentary lunch for everyone.

Hence, these are some of the activities which will be held at the orientation program of Amrita University where you will get to know about this university and get a glimpse of its culture and environment.

How is Amrita University for an MTech in embedded systems? Which campus should I prefer between Coimbatore & Bangalore?

SP
Sreeja Prasad Posted On : June 17th, 2021
Studied at Amrita University

I know some people from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham so I think I can give you some idea about it.

M.Tech in Embedded Systems is a great course. As far as the choice between Bangalore and Coimbatore campuses is concerned, then without any doubt, Coimbatore campus is better between the two. Here are some details about the campuses.

Coimbatore Campus:

  • This course is offered by the Electrical and Electronics department. So if you are an electrical graduate, then it is better for you.
  • The department has very good lab facilities. There are various development boards and robotic kits which will help you increase your skills.
  • The faculty are very helpful and will help in every way both academically as well as publishing in your journals.

Bangalore Campus:

  • Here the course is offered by the Computer Science department. So if you are a CS graduate, then it is for you.
  • The labs, teaching experience, facilities, research opportunities, and exposure to the industry are also very good.

Considering all the points and knowing that Coimbatore is the original and the oldest campus of the two, the preference of the campuses should be Coimbatore.

  • The placements at KU are far better than at Amrita University.
  • Top companies like Infosys, Accenture, HP, PWC, TCS, Dell, etc. take part in their placement program.
  • They have a huge campus, very well maintained and equipped with all the necessary facilities.
  • The campus environment is excellent with well-equipped hostel rooms.
