IIM Jammu is a decent B-School. Although it is among the new IIMs, it has improved a lot over the last few years. IIM J offers a hands-on learning experience with a case-study-based pedagogy. You will get exposure to real-world corporate problems. Students get the opportunity to take part in various clubs and committee activities.

IIM Jammu placements have witnessed an upward surge, over the last few years. According to 2022 placement highlights, students received an average CTC of INR 13.53 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was INR 32 LPA.

How do IIM and IIT students from Jammu (J & K) study in a conflict environment? Do their parents allow them to study there?

Unlike the general misconception, Jammu is as safe as any other city in India. Only Kashmir is inflicted by riots and has a conflict environment. My sister had no doubts when she made the decision to pursue MBA from IIM Jammu. In fact, even our parents did not worry about her relentlessly.

As a part, a little concern on their part is justified. But if the riots and conflicts are the reason your parents can rest assured as Jammu is a very safe city.

Moreover, IITs and IIMs are institutes of great national importance. Hence strict regulations are imposed to maintain safety within the campus.

A student from my college has been selected in IIM Jammu for an MBA program. He can't afford the fee. What are his options?

All the IITs and IIMs offer extensive financial support owing to their high fees. So financially weak need not worry about the fees part. That problem can be tackled through

  • Student loans - This is the most commonly adopted method by the students of all IIMs. Education loans are offered at extremely low-interest rates. The banks trust the institute's reputation and the students' assurance of earning a lot after passing out from IIM.
  • Merit-based-scholarships: These scholarships not only help tackle the financial burden but also instill healthy competition among students.
  • Means-based-scholarships: Students who are in dire need of financial assistance can present income/asset proofs. Some of these scholarships may or may not require you to maintain a certain academic performance.
  • Competitions: A lot of competitions at IIMs offer cash prizes.

These are in fact not the only ways to avail of financial assistance. There are many other ways so don’t let your financial situation come in the way of your opportunities and bright future.

Which IIM should I choose amongst Bodh Gaya, Sirmaur, and Jammu?

All the 3 B Schools you mentioned have been established recently and are not very different from each other. My sister is an IIM Jammu pass out so I will mention whatever I know of that particular IIM only.

  • It was established in 2016 and initially functioned under IIM Lucknow but now runs as an autonomous school.
  • Located in the heart of Jammu city, IIM Jammu gives an edge over other new IIMs because of better connectivity.
  • The campus life is a blend of a hectic schedule with tight deadlines that will always keep you on your toes
  • Emphasis is also placed on extracurricular activities through sports, cultural and regional events. The Annual Sports Event “Funathon” is conducted to showcase the talents of students in sports.
  • Great exposure is provided to students
  • through various Guest Lectures and various events like HR Conclave and CEO Summit
  • Being a new IIM, the student-driven culture is at its peak here. You are responsible for solving issues related to the establishment of clubs and committees.

So I think IIM Jammu is probably a good choice.

What is the London Immersion program of IIM Jammu?

DS

MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Jammu (2021)

The program is a 6-week credit course held at the ESCP, the oldest business school in the world. The course included finance, marketing, philosophy, business environment, and many other interesting subjects.

Now, this program has been replaced with the Student Exchange Program (STEP) of IIM Jammu. Under this, you will be sent to different institutes of Europe for a duration of 3-4 months. This program aims at developing better interaction, experiential learning, international connections, and a global outlook.

The students will be studying in these institutes and will undertake examinations there as well. Their grades will then get transferred back to the main institute.

Where shall I pursue my MBA, Welingkar Mumbai or IIM Jammu?

AJ
Arshit Jain Posted On : January 11th, 2023
MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Jammu (Graduated 2019)

You should pursue an MBA at IIM Jammu. Your decision in this case should be influenced by the IIM's strong reputation for quality and the respect you receive from those around you. The following are the reasons behind the same:

  • Money is always a motivator for candidates to pursue their dreams, allowing them to dream bigger. In both institutes, the package is nearly identical. It can vary, but if you are an intelligent candidate in both institutes, you can safely assume more than the 10LPA package.
  • If not for a better package, it could be for learning business models, getting structured thought processes, starting your own business, or making the right business connections.
  • IIM Jammu has strong ties with all HR professionals in the industry. It holds a variety of events at the institute on a regular basis. Students may participate in community activities.
  • It has also partnered with Entrepreneurship cells and top business people in J&K to connect you with the right people. You have a fantastic library, a fantastic curriculum, and, of course, a fantastic environment in which to feel happy and positively imbibe what you are taught and experienced into your brain and heart.

Without a doubt, IIM Jammu is a perfect platform for one to enjoy and live in a very peaceful and aesthetic place, with nice people around you, while maintaining professionalism. It has a cultural festival, a sports festival, numerous fun events, celebrations, and so on that, you will remember for the rest of your life.

Are colleges like LBSIM/FORE better than? IIM Nagpur, Sambalpur, Sirmaur, and Jammu?

AS
Anurag Sharma Posted On : January 17th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur

Top B Schools like LBSIM/FORE are incomparable to the new IIMs. They have been established for decades and the new IIMs cannot be included in them at least in the near future. Although some might say that some new IIMs are under the mentorship of old IIMs like Lucknow, they haven’t made the mark yet. Whereas the already leading B Schools LMSIM and FORE are on the verge of making it to the top. Even the IIM tag is of little value here.

Let me explain this through an example. You go to buy an electronic device and purchase a branded device. Yet the model is a very old one. It is of little value despite being branded. Same is the case here. The new IIMs do give you the IIM tag but it is of little worth.
