How was your MICA - Ahmedabad interview?

Namrata Das Posted On : July 5th, 2023

My friend gave her interview at MICA-Ahmedabad and cleared it. According to her, the interview went in a very smooth manner and it was overall a stress-free experience for her.

The panel had three people- 2 faculty members and an individual from the corporate.

The interview was based on the SOP and the applicant’s form.

My friend mentioned in her form that she hated getting waxed. Based on this response, the interviewers conversed with her about beauty and the pressing issue of always looking gorgeous. It was more like a conversation than an interview.

My friend also mentioned in her form how she was into the sport of shooting while at school. One of the interviewers had a funny exchange with her on this subject. This made my friend feel comfortable and confident from the very beginning of the interview.

Overall, my friend had an enjoyable experience with her interview at MICA-Ahmedabad and she will always cherish the memory of that day.

How difficult is it to get into MICA?

RP
Raina Patel Posted On : April 8th, 2021
Studied MBA in Marketing at MICA, Ahmedabad (2020)

For MICA's GE-PI process, two test-scores are always considered before they shortlist any candidate. After that, you should clear any of the following- CAT; XAT or GMAT. You must essentially also manage to crack the written exam of MICA itself - MICAT.

This might look and sound difficult and a rather intimidating task, that you have to go through two competitive level exams to get in. You would be able to keep track of the level of your knowledge via Logical Reasoning, Verbal Ability and Quantitative Aptitude. Therefore, you must understand that it is vital to chalk out a plan and a strategy.

Interestingly, MICAT comprises two different sections which are - Psychometric and Descriptive. This isn't a part of your regular CAT/XAT/GMAT. What's unique isn't the fact that this particular section sets aside students from MICA and B-school graduates.

Here's a brief overview of Psychometric and Descriptive sections -

  • Descriptive - This section requires candidates to answer questions based on their story-telling abilities and check how well they manage to analyse and handle situations under sheer pressure and stress.
  • Psychometric - A qualifier for the assessed test - this section is such that if you fail in answering even one question, know that your paper will not be considered and hence, would not be evaluated. Right or wrong aspects do not matter in this section but it takes away an impression of the way you function your mind which renders an impression about you too.

Talking about B-school graduates is pretty straightforward. Once they are shortlisted, they would stick to GDs or else WATs as their second option. While MICA does this. It administers a group exercise checking the candidate's leadership, teamwork and creative side. And by the time you reach the PI, you would go through a number of different experiences.

The path to MICA is indeed difficult and intimidating at times, but if you have already made up your mind to reach there by staying persistent in your efforts, you would definitely be successful. Once you're there, your life will turn around for good.

Has anyone with less than 40 percentile in CAT got into MICA Ahmedabad?

PS
Priyadarshini Sen Posted On : April 8th, 2021
Studied at MICA, Ahmedabad (2019)

Yes, anyone with less than 40 percentile in CAT has gotten into MICA Ahmedabad. Being a 2015 batch pass-out and back then, MICA accepted a CAT score of 40% and there were certain people in the batch that had a CAT score of a simple 50 percentile.

But things changed post-2015 as MICA arranged for a separate exam of its own - CAT/XAT/GMAT instead of cut-offs from CAT scores. A good weightage is for MICAT exclusively. Also, back then around 2015, people had gotten into MICA because of their CAT score which was >30 percentile as well. So, you do not have to worry too much.

Focusing on MICAT is a better option. A good or even a bad CAT score in today's time does not really matter. MICAT has two sections to it and make sure you especially excel in their Psychometric test. Having said that, do some introspection and if you happen to realise that there is some kind of potential in you and you are ready to stay persistent in your endeavours to reach MICA. And once you're at it, make sure you do great at MICAT and face GE/PI as well.

Which institute should I join: MICA, IRMA or XIMB?

AV
Akash Verma Posted On : March 16th, 2023
PGDRM, PRM38 from Institute of Rural Management, Anand

While choosing between MICA, IRMA, and XIMB, it's important to keep in mind that these institutions are very different from each other. They have different missions, visions, and outcomes. While XIMB is a general management institute, MICA and IRMA are focused on their respective domains.

If you're someone who is primarily driven by CTC and ROI, then it's important to think twice before opting for these niche programs based on general parameters. You might end up in something that you might not enjoy.

IRMA is the pioneer of rural management, with the aim of bringing about a change in the rural sector of the country through professional management. As a participant in the program, you'll learn all the principles of general management, along with social and liberal arts subjects. One of the unique features of IRMA is their three internship segments, which provide a different perspective on rural realities and society through a different lens.

By choosing IRMA, you can expect to have a rewarding career afterwards. However, keep in mind that the program is geared towards those who have a genuine interest in rural management and development. It's important to do your research and self-reflection to see if this program is the right fit for you.
