What should I prefer, KJ Somaiya IT or CS from Thadomal Shahani?

RS
Rishabh Suman Posted On : June 1st, 2021
studied Computer Engineering at K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering

There isn't much of a difference between IT and CS, forget institutes individually where you would pursue them. Both CS and IT happen to consist of more or less the same subjects and the course pattern is also similar. There are only a handful of subjects that do not match when it comes to the subject courses of CS and IT and trust me, that isn't as important as it seems.

Eventually, it is all about your choice of college. It is assumed that you have done some prior research beforehand on the institutes. A former student of this institute who I know would also suggest not giving too much importance to the branches either.

Also, special mention to KJ Somaiya as along with the benefits of autonomy, you would be able to grab better placement opportunities for yourself at reputed companies with a handsome salary package. The top recruiters of the students of KJ Somaiya are Cognizant, PwC, Amazon, etc. Till now, 90% of students have been placed and the CTC was as high as 29.75 LPA and the average CTC stood at 9.4 LPA. Banking, Financial Services, IT are the sectors which recruited the most students.

I have done BE (Computer) and now pursuing ME from SGBAU Amravati, Maharashtra, India. I want to go to a corporate job. Will my ME make any benefit for me?

SS
Sahana Sikri, Posted On : November 18th, 2021
studied at SGBAU Amravati (2019)

Probably not but it may be useful if you want to be a professor, and should prepare yourself to do a Ph.D. from a more reputed university.

BE will help you understand the theory which you can ten implement practically. ME or M.Tech is basically for shifting to the teaching line. Though there are some specializations that will equip you with deeper technical knowledge.

During placements, you will have an edge over BE candidates. Students graduating with ME or M.Tech generally go for Research and Development.

Post Graduation has an advantage but for a corporate job, being a BE or B.Tech graduate, you can also apply. Studying 2 more years is a choice that varies from student to student. There is no right answer so, choose to do whatever you feel will be suitable for you.

Which is better, ET or CS at IET DAVV Indore?

PS
Parveen Sinha Posted On : July 14th, 2021
BE Information Technology, Institute of Engineering and Technology, DAVV (2021)

The most important thing when it comes to such a decision is to follow the subject of your choice and then go for the institute criteria. ET and CSE are different and have major variations in their courses. Being a CSE graduate myself, I would prefer you also opt for CSE as it is widely in demand.

  • ET is comparatively less demanding than CSE in today’s world
  • CSE has more variation and offers various specializations required in the corporate world.
  • CSE has a much better future and its scope increases with each passing day.
  • ET experiences very few core companies for recruitment and not with a heavy package whereas CSE experiences the best recruitment from various core companies and also from tech giants offering hefty packages.
  • ROI (Return of Investment) is considered highest in the CSE branch in every institute.
  • The internship is also better in the CSE branch. Students often get internships offered from 2 places.
  • Faculty wise CSE branch has experienced professors with more than 15 years.

CSE at IET DAVV

Which is better, a COE at Thapar or a CSE at IIIT, Una? Does IIT Una come under NIT Hamirpur?

ST
Sugandha Tiwari Posted On : April 1st, 2021
Studied CS from NIT Rourkela (2019)

Currently, IIIT Una facilitates education through two temporary campuses of Dev Bhumy Group of Institutes, Himachal Pradesh and the NIT campus at Hamirpur, the main campus is still under construction and the placement is average.

The first batch of IIIT Una passed in 2018, with an average salary of INR 3-4 LPA and highest salary of INR 10-12 LPA. In 2020, 90% students were placed and the average salary increased to 8 LPA and the highest to 16 LPA, hence it is being assumed that these statistics will improve in the upcoming years to reach the level of performance of NIT Hamirpur.

For now, you'd like to know these -

  • NIT Hamirpur has been ranked #98 by NIRF and Thapar ranks #29 on the same.
  • As IIIT Una is working under the aegis of NIT Hamirpur, the institute receives the same companies for placement as does NIT Hamirpur. This year, names like Infosys, Reliance and IBM graced the campus and the highest package offered was INR 62 LPA.
  • For COE, Thapar University students receive an average salary of INR 6-7 LPA.

It is difficult to assume anything in the case of IIIT Una, it has improved from the 2018 statistics, but it cannot be said how successful it'll be in four years' time. Whereas Thapar University is developing well as far as placements are concerned, in 2020 the highest package offered to Thapar University students was INR 39 LPA and 990+ companies made offers to them.
