How is Electrical Engineering at IIT Gandhinagar?

For the Industrial Systems Engineering branch, top recruiters like American Express, Capillary Technologies, Bosch, Tata Motors, etc. offer an average package between 13 LPA to 15 LPA, and the average placement rate for this course is over 75%.
Even though the statistics for Electrical Engineering placements at IIT Bhubaneswar are better, IIT KGP offers a much stronger alumni network and a richer legacy. To add to this, the flexible curriculum of IIT KGP makes sure that its students can easily fit into any sector.
After considering all the factors, I would suggest you choose Industrial Systems Engineering at IIT KGP over Electrical Engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar. But I would also point out that you must ultimately choose the branch which interests you the most.
Which branch should I choose: B.Tech (Electrical Engineering) in IIT Roorkee or Dual Degree (Electrical Engineering) in IIT Kharaghpur?
According to me, B.Tech (Electrical engineering) from IIT Roorkee is a better option due to the following reasons:
- B.Tech electrical engineering is a 4 year program while dual degree (electrical engineering) is a five year program. This means that choosing IIT Roorkee will help you enter the workforce earlier.
- The B.Tech curriculum focuses equally on theoretical and practical learning. This will prepare you for industry roles.
On the other hand, the dual degree curriculum gives more importance to research and specialisation in electrical engineering.

What should I choose between IIT Mandi Electrical and IIIt Allahabad IT?
One of my friends is a student at IIIT Allahabad pursuing a dual degree in IT. My older brother is a student at IIT Mandi, where he is studying electrical engineering. Regarding the whole situation, let me be absolutely honest with you.
- If you are interested in electrical engineering, you should first apply to IIT Mandi.
- Even if you are interested in CSE, you can choose IIT Mandi if you are confident in your ability to score well as branch change rules are less stringent there.
- The campus and surrounding scenery are both stunning at IIT Mandi.
- Since there are fewer students, there are more opportunities in every sector.
- There are better sports facilities, as well as the IIT designation. IIT Mandi is the place to go if you want to be more involved on campus.

IIIT Allahabad outperforms IIT Mandi in terms of faculty, coding culture, and infrastructure.
- The college will assist you in becoming a more professional IT engineer.
- In terms of campus life and activities, IIT Mandi is ahead of IIITA, but IIIT has a larger alumni network.
- Alumni of the IIIT Allahabad are in high-ranking positions in Silicon Valley.
- Placements are marginally better here than at IIT Mandi.
- In terms of venue, both are very similar, with Allahabad being an inch better.
You must now choose where you will spend the next four years of your life. Examine your long-term priorities and goals, and make decisions accordingly.
What should I take, electrical engineering at IIT Delhi or CSE at BITS Pilani?
IIT Delhi and BITS Pilani are two highly reputed institutions for engineering studies in India. I am a second year B.Tech Electrical student at IIT Delhi. During my time, I was faced with a similar dilemma. But I ended up choosing IIT Delhi over BITS Pilani for my studies.
I would recommend you choose Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi over CSE at BITS Pilani because of these reasons:
- Brand Value: IIT Delhi carries the prestigious “IIT'' tag which holds more brand value than the “BITS Pilani'' tag. This will become important to you when applying to foreign universities for your higher education.
- Fees: As a government institution, the fees of IIT Delhi is much more affordable as compared to BITS Pilani. This in turn, gives IIT Delhi a higher position in ROI (Return on Investment) because it offers even better placements.

How is electrical engineering and mechanical engineering at the PEC, Chandigarh? Is it worth it?
Both Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at PEC Chandigarh are great options. You should choose one of these courses based on your preference. The placement opportunities offered are similar, except Mechanical students are allowed for less number of coding job profiles. So, if you are interested in coding, choosing Electrical will be better. According to PEC Chandigarh placement highlights of recent years, the average CTC for these branches stays in the range of INR 5-12 LPA.
Which should I prefer, IIT Kharagpur computer or IIT Delhi electrical?
Both IIT Kharagpur CSE and IIT Delhi Electrical Engineering courses are well recognized in India.

The placement of CSE branch at IIT Kharagpur is very good with almost all the students getting placed at good packages. The highest package offered is around INR 2 CPA , and the average package offered to the students is around INR 26 LPA to INR 28 LPA. The percentage of placement for CSE branch at IIT Kharagpur is around 95% to 100%.
If you wish to study B.Tech CSE, IIT Kharagpur is a great choice, in terms of both academics and placements.
Should I take Electrical in NIT Kurushetra or Electrical in PEC Chandigarh?
If you think statistically, then PEC Chandigarh is better than NIT Kurukshetra. Considering this, the following reasons are listed:
- It is a reputed and A-Brand old institute of India, although it was established 100 years back.
- As per the NIRF data, the average salary package of this institute is also higher and can be compared with the old IITs.
- The growth rate is still undergoing since its infrastructural development had recently started.
- The students here get internship opportunities in top MNCs at International locations.
- Lastly, the extracurricular activities of this institute are huge.

Which one is better, electrical engineering or electrical (power and automation) from IIT Delhi?
It’s best to compare both the branches based on the most common aspects such as
- Curriculum: The curriculum of both Electrical Engineering and Electrical Engineering (Power and Automation) covers a lot of common topics. The core courses of one may be available as either core courses or elective courses for the other, and vice versa. Only around 5 distinguishing courses are offered.
- Job opportunities: As far as core placements are concerned, the opportunities offered by both branches are quite different. Some companies might prefer students of one branch over the other. The non-core job roles offered are very similar in both branches.
- Competition: Electrical Engineering has better-ranking students than Electrical (Power and Automation). Thus the former has better competition than the latter. Someone who is among the top 10 in Electrical is among the top 2-3 in Electrical Power and Automation.
IIT Delhi Electrical Engineering offers slightly more opportunities in terms of peer quality and placements than the other.
IIT Madras electrical engineering or IIT Delhi electrical engineering, which is the best?
Unless you are considering IIT Delhi because of its location advantage, IIT Madras is the best option. No one ever leaves IIT Madras disappointed. Another factor people consider is the environment provided by the Institute. Most North Indians consider the culture at IIT Madras way different and thus end up losing focus and motivation. If you are affected by such elements, choose the Institute you think will have a culture and people similar to your tastes.
Many North Indians are settling well in IIT Madras and ending up in the top 5% of the batch. So what matters is that the Institute you are choosing should provide the kind of environment that motivates you to learn and excel.
You will face tremendous competition and thus you will have to stay focussed and motivated to do well in that kind of environment. It is extremely necessary to choose the right environment for you as you will be spending 4 years of your life there.
Thus if a certain Institute, for instance, IIT Madras has more facilities than IIT Delhi but you stay among average students in IIT Madras but among the top 5% in IIT Delhi, then the right option for you is IIT Delhi.
