Is IIIT Sri City really bad?
No, IIIT Sri City is not an inferior institute. It is decent to invest your time and money in it. Below mentioned are a few features of the institute.
- The infrastructure has developed quickly in the past years to make it a fully-functional campus.
- The worthy students are filtered through JEE Mains and admitted to the institute. Many students have achieved top-ranks in the contests held around the country. Even a few seniors have secured admissions in the best universities of the world like MIT (USA), Carnegie Mellon University, etc.
- The system of IIIT is worthy. You do not have to prepare records, journals, and other things to submit. The traditional methods have been abolished. The assignments are connected to the practical learning experience. There is no waste of time and resources.
- The schedule is not tight. You will be able to manage all the crucial things like academics, extra self-learning things, and recreational activities at weekends.
- The students have joined the industries like E-Commerce, Ed-Tech, Data Analytics, IT Product and IT Services, Manufacturing, Consulting, Augmented, and Virtual Reality.
- The companies like Amazon, Hyundai, Finsol, etc., visit the campus.
It is a good institute, so try to make the most out of your experience there. It is important to make the right choices in terms of peers, college groups, clubs, etc.
Indian Institute of Management: Which one should I choose between IIFT, Delhi and MDI, Gurgaon?
Some reasons why you can consider IIFT over MDI are:
- Finance: IIFT is one of the few institutes in which most of the students go for finance as a major. Almost 50% of the batch are Finance majors. The campus is visited by Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and Axis Bank which recruit in large numbers, to name a few.
- Batch size: The small batch size at IIFT Delhi makes it a more probable choice than MDI Gurgaon. Comparing the placement reports one may infer that the statistics are almost similar except for IIFT having a slight advantage due to its stronger alumni base.
- Alumni base: For the last 59 years, IIFT Delhi has established a far richer and more established alumni network than MDI Gurgaon in comparison.
- Accreditation: IIFT is under the Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India which also audits its placement reports.
- Entrepreneurship: As with other B-schools, IIFT promotes entrepreneurship among its students by teaching them about trades in addition to the standard course curriculum.
Many people I know chose IIFT over MDI Gurgaon and many did the opposite as well, after doing healthy research and a comparison of the two.
How difficult is it to change branch from ECE to IT in IIIT-Allahabad?
Well that is neither difficult nor simple. It actually primarily depends on how many students are opting for IT in IIIT Allahabad. It is almost impossible to guess what the cut-offs are going to be. Although there is a tough competition among students who wish to go for IT from ECE and you will have to clear that successfully.
How many students in your year are wishing to transfer from IT to EC will also matter in this aspect. Hence, rather than planning and thinking about what the cut off will be, the only thing that you should be doing is working very hard to score the best CGPA in your batch because only that is in your hands. Scoring CGPA above 9 makes it very easy for you to transfer from ECE to IT in IIIT Allahabad.
Obviously you should have all the basic knowledge and understanding such as C, C++, Java etc. before you think of switching your branch.
Is it tough to pass the MCA from IGNOU?
MCA IGNOU is unquestionably difficult. Especially the third semester of mathematics. It is more difficult than regular MCA and B.tech computer science programs. Many students were unable to pay the fees for their Btech after completing their 12th grade. They could have become financially better off if they had gotten a job while also studying MCA IGNOU and were able to pay the nominal fees charged by MCA IGNOU.
Some people may have missed out on engineering graduation because they did not receive proper guidance during their 12th year. When such people enter the corporate world, they have a good idea of what they want and then decide to take a course, and the bright ones take MCA IGNOU and pass it.
The conclusion is that yes, of course, MCA IGNOU is absolutely the most difficult computer science course in India. And if someone has passed it, you can be confident that she/he is very good.

How good is Stella Maris College Chennai?
I have a few friends from Stella Maris College for Women Chennai. Here is their insight.
- All the programs of Stella Maris are UGC and NAAC approved.
- The extracurricular activities and academics are outstanding. So, the students develop holistically. But no intercollege cultural festivals have been held lately. However, the institute focuses more on academics.
- The college has some restrictions too. Every initiative by students requires management permission. The student union has limited scope in decision-making.
- Class tours are rare. Only fortune batches get this chance.
- The top recruiters are Sutherland, Zifo RnD, Verizon, Goldman Sachs, EY, Wipro, Cognizant, TNQ, and more.
Overall it is a decent institute with a high reputation and good placement opportunities.
How is hostel life in NIT Hamirpur?
Hostel life at NIT Hamirpur is similar to that of any other college. Since my brother recently passed out from NIT Hamirpur, I have a better idea of this.
- The students change their hostel rooms after every year so your roommates also change 4 times.
- The serene surrounding areas make the campus a peaceful place to stay. You will always be in awe of the beauty of the campus.
- The hostel has rigid restrictions on in-timing. During the initial semester girls and boys are expected to reach the hostel quite early. From the second semester, there are a few relaxations, especially for the boys.
- There are indoor game facilities like table tennis and badminton courts. There is also a pool table in the Neelkanth Boys Hostel for third-year boys. Also, there is a Common TV room where students gather to watch matches together.
- Students can be seen walking around at night or enjoying the sunrise at OAT.
- Many talented students portray their skills at night performing for everyone. Celebrations like birthdays, festivals, and the World Cup become much better with friends.
- There are enough eateries for both girls and boys. Girls have canteens in their hostels while boys have Nescafe which runs till 2 am. There are many eating spots in and around the campus like Juice bar, Nescafe, Amul, HPMC shop, Ekta, Junction, etc
- Students occasionally plan trips to nearby areas like Shimla, Kullu-Manali, Dharamshala, Treks, and many more.
- The best part of hostel life is indeed the last-minute group studies a day before your exams.
The facilities and rooms do not define the quality of your hostel life but the friends you make there do!
Where do IGNOU exams generally take place at their study center or in nearby schools?
IGNOU exams are never given at your study centre. It only happens for practical and internal exams. Typically, an examinee can select their examination centre from the options provided by IGNOU during the examination form-filling process (Online).
It should be noted that there is no guarantee that IGNOU will provide you with the same examination centre you selected during the form-filling process; this may change in some exceptional cases or circumstances. If you do not select an option, IGNOU will locate your examination centre near you. It would be in the same city where you are studying by default.
It could be any government school, college, or other institution that offered IGNOU courses. This means that your examination centre can only be one of the IGNOU study centres.
