Is an IGNOU degree valid for UPSC?

AM
Aman Kumar Maurya Posted On : October 17th, 2022
B.A.(Hons.) in English (language) & Psychology, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

You will be qualified. It should be a well-known university. You can check the eligibility criteria listed below:

Academic Qualification for IAS Exams:

  • The candidate must have a degree from one of the Universities established by an Act of the Central or State Legislatures in India, or from another educational institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or an equivalent qualification.

  • Candidates who have taken or plan to take the qualifying exam and are awaiting results are also eligible to take the Preliminary Examination. All such candidates who qualify to take the Civil Services Main Examination must submit proof of passing the said exam with their application for the Main Examination.

  • In exceptional cases, the UPSC may treat a candidate who lacks the aforementioned requisite qualification as an eligible candidate if he or she has passed an examination administered by another institution, the standard of which, in the Commission's opinion, justifies his or her admission.

  • Candidates with professional and technical qualifications that the government recognizes as equivalent to professional and technical degrees.

  • Candidates who have completed the final year of their MBBS or any other Medical Examination but have yet to complete their internship can also sit for the Main Examination. They must, however, submit a certificate from the University / Institution's concerned authority confirming that they passed the final professional medical examination along with their Main Examination application.

At the interview stage, they must then produce a certificate from a competent authority stating that they have completed all of the requirements for the award of the Medical Degree (including internship).

Am I eligible for a government job after doing graduation from IGNOU distance education?

SJ
Sattvik Jain Posted On : October 14th, 2022
Studied Political Science and International Relations at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

IGNOU is a reputable and accredited government distance learning university. It has been approved by both the UGC and the AICTE. So there is no doubt about the validity of IGNOU degrees now or in the future.

The second point to consider is Distance Education. Yes, degrees from open universities are not accepted for all types of jobs or vacancies. Approximately 10-15 years ago, the majority of government jobs required regular courses. This trend is currently changing.

IGNOU degrees are accepted in both cases. However, there are still very few government or private companies, such as TCS, that do not consider candidates from distance education. Because they are in short supply, you will have no trouble finding a job with an IGNOU degree. It also depends on the degree to some extent. Regular engineering or B.Ed degrees are still considered superior to distance degrees. Distance or regular mode courses such as BSc, Bcom, or BA are nearly equivalent.

In a nutshell, an IGNOU degree qualifies for the majority of government jobs.

What rank in DU LLB entrance exam will make me eligible for hostel?

RC
Rajni Chauhan Posted On : October 12th, 2022
Studied Bachelor of Law (LL.B) & Master of Laws at University of Delhi

A rank in the top 50 is secured for general category students, but you should try even if you are in the top 100 or 200. Women from the general category may apply even if they are not in the top 500.

Even if one's name is among the top 500 or 1000 on the general merit list, one should apply for the SC/ST/PH categories. You never know what your luck will be.

In addition, hostel seats are available in the second and third years of LLB based on your first or second year grades. So, if you don't get a hostel seat in first year LLB, you can work hard to get good grades (at least 60% in our time) and apply in second year.

Mansarowar, Jubilee Hall, Gwyer Hall, PG Men's, DS Kothari, and ISH are the six men's hostels, and UHW or PGW and Meghdoot are the two women's hostels. Later, a few more hostels for women candidates from the north-east and SC/ST categories will be added. It is critical to be vigilant and apply to as many hostels as possible.

A Law Hall, an exclusive hostel for the Law Faculty, could play a significant role in significantly improving legal education at DU. A Law Hall for men and another for women can be of great assistance to meritorious students from across India who want to join the law faculty but are concerned about finding housing in Delhi.

What is meant by best four for DU?

AL
Aradhya Lamba Posted On : October 10th, 2022
BSc in Food Technology, University of Delhi

The rules for calculating the Best Four vary depending on the course you want to take. Each course will have its own set of rules for computing it. Some courses will make some subjects mandatory, which means that whether your score is high or low in them, you must include them in those four subjects in order to be admitted to that course.

The four subject criteria will not be present in every course. Some courses, such as Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Instrumentation, Polymer Science, and others, will only consider your PCM percentage, which is your marks in (Physics + Chemistry + Mathematics) divided by three. Some Biology courses will only consider the PCB percentage, which is (Physics + Chemistry + Biology)/3.

Many things will be said to you about admission to the University of Delhi, but many of them will be incorrect. To obtain accurate information, one must visit the college itself. Attempt to visit various colleges on a regular basis. Remember to take chances even if your score is less than 90%. You will have a better chance of admission if you visit colleges on a regular basis.

Can I apply to a DU college in the second cut off even if I was eligible for the first cut off but did not take admission at that time?

DR
Dev Rajput Posted On : October 10th, 2022
Studied at University of Delhi

Yes, you can still apply for college admission. All you need to do is bring all necessary documents, but keep in mind that you will be marked as a Defaulter (a Defaulter student fails to appear in the previous cut-off when he was meeting the requirements).

According to University Regulations, a defaulter can only take admission on the third day of that particular cut-off.

You should go to the college where you want to enroll on the first day and follow the admissions procedure. You are suggested not to tell any teacher about the same because teachers sometimes forget to check if students are defaulters or not. If anyone gets to know, then you will have to come back again on the third day of admission.

Can I get admission in DU with 85?

ZM
Zoya Mallik Posted On : October 10th, 2022
Studied at University of Delhi

Depending on the course and the number of applications, each college at DU has its cut-off. This cut-off is also different for each student category. SC, ST, OBC, and PWD candidates generally have lower cut-offs than general category students. There is also an option for students who excel in sports and extracurricular activities to get a break from the cut-off.

The first step is to complete the Admission form, which is available both online and offline on the official website. The dates for the cut-offs will also be announced on the same website. You can see if you pass the cutoff based on your score on the board. Most colleges accept the best of four scores with English as a mandatory subject, and subjects such as Physical Education are not considered. If you see that you meet the cut-off for a specific college, it is a good idea to check the college's website to see if they have any additional eligibility criteria. If you meet all of the requirements, you must report to the college within the next two days. The college may have its form that you must fill out and submit along with a few documents for verification.

The documents would have to include-

  • Mark Sheets for Grades 10 and 12 (Get them attested by your school principal or a gazetted officer)

  • School character certificate

  • Birth certificate

  • SC/ST/OBC/PWD certificate if you fall into any of the categories

  • Certificates of proof for your ECA and sports if you want to take advantage of the cut-off relaxation.

After the verification is finished, you must pay the fees and receive a receipt confirming your admission.

What is the eligibility criteria for an MA in economics admission at DU?

MS
Mallika Shrivastava Posted On : October 7th, 2022
B. Ed from University of Delhi

There are two main ways to get admission to the Delhi School of Economics (232 seats): direct admission (50%) and entrance test (50%): -

  1. Direct Admission (116 seats) - Any applicant who has previously completed a B.A. (Hons.) in Economics from the University of Delhi with a minimum of 60% marks is eligible to apply in this category. Admissions under this category, on the other hand, are given to those who have had a very good academic record during their graduation. This admissions category is similar to the undergraduate cutoff system.

  2. Entrance Test (116 seats) - Anyone with a 60% average in graduation/postgraduate studies (any subject from any recognised university) is eligible to take the entrance test.

MS Mechanical Engineering, Northwestern University (2022)

Most universities or colleges of Canada have their own set of eligibility criteria for MBA admission. But the common prerequisite for international students is as follows.

  • You need to have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Usually, most universities accept a 4-year long undergraduate course. But there are some institutes that accept 3-year long bachelor's degrees too.
  • Proof of relevant work experience. Since MBA is a professional degree, most institutes prefer students with 12 months of work experience. Though having work experience isn’t mandatory.
  • For most of the top business schools in Canada, a good GMAT score is mandatory.
  • As an international student applying for an MBA in Canada, you will also require to have a decent language proficiency score such as IELTS, TOFEL, PTE.
