How will Maharaja Surajmal Institute be in the coming 4 years?

AP
Aditi Patel Posted On : May 31st, 2021
CSE, MSIT (2018)

I have a friend who is an alumnus of MSIT and here’s what he had to say about this.

Faculty: There is a significant decline in terms of management and teaching. The faculty members are mostly doctorate students and they are pursuing their studies as well as teaching, so it is fair to say that they teach you with no sense of belonging.

Infrastructure: Most of the campuses are growing old and there is hardly any maintenance done. They started upgrading a few years back but the development is very slow. Labs are not equipped with the necessary equipment.

Placements: MSIT has a good placement record. There is every likelihood that the prospects for placement may dry in the future years, as the quality of education stays stagnant. The average CTC offered has remained the same since 2004. Here are the recent placement highlights.

Average CTC

3.6 LPA

Highest CTC

47 LPA

So, according to my friend, unless some drastic change happens, it is less likely that things at MSIT will improve in near future.

HS
Himanshu Sinha Posted On : August 16th, 2022
B.Tech in Computer Science, Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology

Comparably, MAIT is better for a B.Tech.

  • It is more lenient regarding attendance.
  • MAIT has classes for 5 days. So, you will have more time to explore your interests.
  • The student crowd is comparably better than MSIT.
  • MAIT brand name is more recognized in the industry.
  • It has better fests and events than MSIT.

MAIT placements are excellent. According to the recent placement drive, students usually receive a median CTC of INR 4.5 LPA.

I'm getting an EEE in MAIT and an ECE in MSIT in IPU. What should I take?

SY

B.Tech I.T from Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (2021)

Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology has been positioned under the rank band of 151-200 among 906 top engineering institutions across the country which also includes all IITs/IIITs/NITs. So, pursuing EEE at MAIT is a good option.

With a fine blend of experienced as well as young and dynamic personalities as faculty, the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering is involved in providing quality education at the Undergraduate (UG) level in MSIT.

Admissions:

  • MAIT conducts a common entrance test (CET) to make the B.Tech programme selection in EEE and any other branch. The candidates are selected according to the CET performance along with the marks that they obtain in JEE.

  • The admissions in ECE at MSIT will only be based on the student's merit at JEE Mains Paper. By applying for an IPU CET Exam, B.Sc graduates may receive the lateral entry into B.Tech programmes.

  • The total fees in MAIT for EEE for a span of 4 years is 4.47 lakhs. The total fees per year in MSIT for IPU is ‎1.35 lakhs.

Placements:

MAIT:

Maharaja Agrasen Technology Institute has a separate training and positioning cell. Though Very less core placement is there for EEE. But they still get a chance to sit in the company of coding and consultancies and get the chance to be placed.

  • Some of the companies that visit MAIT are Accenture, ZS Associates, LIBSYS, Wipro, Infosys, Nagarro, Sapient, TCS, Deloitte, Hughes Systique, HSBC, Cognizant, Tata Power DDL, Amazon, etc.

  • The average CTC offered to the students is 3.5 lakhs.

MSIT:

  • 80-90% of students got placed from ECE at MSIT in the 2020 placement even with the COVID-19 situation.

  • The average package is 3-4 LPA, the highest is 8 LPA and the lowest is 3 LPA.

  • The major recruiters are Infosys, TCS, Wingify, Accenture and Comviva Mahindra.

Both the colleges are good in their respective courses, it depends on the applicant’s choice which college and branch to take admission into.

How do these colleges compare: Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (IPU), and Maharaja Agrasen (IPU)?

Studied at Symbiosis International University, Poona (Pune) (2019)

One of my friends studied at Symbiosis, so I might be able to help you with the question.

  • The campus is lovely, and in terms of life experience.
  • There's no better college to associate with such a diverse group of people, including international exchange students as well.
  • But, if you're concerned about your academics, then it’s a bitter truth for you. Most of the colleges in India only provide you with a syllabus and the rest is all self-study. Symbiosis is no exception.
  • Though, if it's any consolation, the CSE placement scene is pretty decent in Symbiosis. Getting an internship is considerably easy here.

What advice would you give to a first-year engineering student of information technology at the Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology?

RD
Radhika Dua Posted On : June 2nd, 2021
B. Tech. Information Technology, Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (2019)

One of my friends is from Maharaja Surajmal. According to him, there are many reviews, so he wanted to share his authentic experience. The points listed below are some advice you may find important -

  • Socializing inside the campus is good. Making friends generates good peer-to-peer learning and habits.
  • MSIT has an excellent senior junior bonding. Interacting with seniors helps a lot in every aspect.
  • Lectures are interactive. It is mandatory to have 75% attendance. But, there are students with very little attendance but good internal and end semester results.
  • Attending practical classes is necessary.
  • A good relationship should be maintained with all lab assistants. Some of them are very senior attendants, and even respected by professors.
  • The lab assistants are the only people to help students out during external exams.
  • The college life in MSIT is quite good, but students should not expect a lot from the administration about facilities and extra-curricular activities.
  • It is a fact that the institute is just an affiliated college of IP University, and not as good as DTU or NSIT.

Therefore, these are some of the on-ground facts of MSIT that will help students make their college life better on the campus.

Is MSIT strict about attendance?

SS
Shristi Sharma Posted On : June 8th, 2021
Studied at Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology

No, MSIT is not that strict about its attendance policy. The brochure officially says that the institute has an attendance policy of a minimum of 75% aggregate in a semester or year for all the subjects taken in that year.

However, this is not in practice. I have many friends from MSIT and most of them never had a 75% attendance in any of the semesters during the 4 years. Some even had less than 50% attendance during the final 2 semesters. Yet nothing happened to them.

They will of course warn you by telling you to call up your parents or not allowing you to take exams, but in reality, this rarely happens. Keep a good rapport with your teachers and classmates to be safe.

Which is best between Maharaja Suraj Mal and KIIT?

AB
Aayush Bhardwaj Posted On : June 19th, 2021
Studied at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology

One of my cousins studied at KIIT and it is an amazing college in East India, with a wonderful infrastructure, skilled faculties, and placement records. The alumni network of KIIT is its biggest asset.

On the other hand, Maharaja SurajMal College has a decent campus. The infrastructure is quite old and students complain about the cleanliness around the campus pretty often. There is WiFi service throughout the campus. The library is common for all the branches and is not maintained well.

  • Curriculum: It is pretty much the same at both KIIT and Maharaja Suraj Mal College. But the facilities offered at KIIT are far better.
  • Diversity: The student crowd on campus at Maharaja Suraj Mal is pretty diverse. The surroundings around campus are safe for girls. The female-to-male student ratio is around 40:60 Crowd at KIIT is kind of monotonous. Students belong to either West Bengal, Jharkhand, or Bihar. The place is a bit boring when compared to Maharaja College.

  • The classrooms are very big and spacious and fully air-conditioned.

Which is better: electronics and instrumentation in Thapar, IT in Maharaja Agrasen College or CSE in Maharaja Surajmal College?

SD
Simi Dua, Posted On : November 25th, 2021
B.Tech. Information Technology, Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (2019)

Among these three colleges it will be better if you go for CSE at MSIT. As CSE is the most sorted department which will provide you with immense opportunities in the corporate field.

It is recommended that you do not opt for Thapar or especially electronics and instrumentation, as your scope will become limited. CSE or IT will open several gates for your future ahead.

Since you do not have any inclination towards any branch, a core branch like ICE which will require you to be one of the top students in the batch to secure a good job in the core company. Or you will get offered a job from mass recruitment companies.

So it is better to pay less for your undergraduate degree, stay in Delhi and pursue the course in demand.
