How good are the placements and packages for electronics and instrumentation in BITS Pilani?

A
Admin Posted On : May 14th, 2024
  • When it comes to the BITS Pilani campus, the scope of getting placed at top companies is huge. First, let me tell you about the placement process that is followed by BITS Pilani.
  • The placements are divided into two semesters for all three campuses. You will have to choose which semester you want to sit for placements by the end of the third year.
  • Normally, students who sit for the first semester have a CGPA above 8 and those who sit for the second semester have a CGPA in the range of 6 to 8.
  • Mostly, those who have less than 8 CGPA do not get to sit for placements in the first semester. The job offers from the recruiters are good. About 15-20 companies visit the college for both semesters.
  • However, your opportunities are better if you get to sit for the first semester. So, try to maintain a CGPA above 8.

Which is better: Electronics and Instrumentation in BITS Pilani or Computer Science in BITS Goa or Hyderabad? Why?

Sayantani Barman Posted On : August 5th, 2023

The decision should be completely based on your interests. It is always better to choose a course that has ample opportunities; otherwise, you will end up jobless. You have to maintain a good CGPA to get a placement here since the competition level is very high. BITS Pilani is comparatively better at academics and placement support than BITS, Goa, or Hyderabad.

When it comes to the selection of the course, Electronics and Instrumentation are a bit difficult for scoring a good CGPA. After this course, you are open to both CSE and EEE fields for your higher studies (based on the electives you have selected).

CSE is comparatively better, which opens up  high opportunities and BITS across India provides placement support for students with good CGPA

So, choose wisely based on your interests.

How is Electronics and instrumentation engineering at IET Lucknow?

AV
Aditi Verma Posted On : August 3rd, 2021
Studied at Delhi University (2019)

Electronics and Instrumentation and Electronics and Communication are a part of the electronics department. Both the branches are perfect in their place. Since I have some friends studying Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering at IET Lucknow, I might be able to answer your question.

  • If you look at the campus placements then it is not as good as CS, IT, etc. branches.
  • The packages offered to some students of EI are also not good. (about 3 lac average.)
  • But in the GATE exam, every year many students of EI secure good ranks, and even toppers are from IET Lucknow.
  • For example, in the 2016 gate exam, Monti with AIR-4 & Vipin Sukla sir had secured AIR-18 and he graduated from IIT Bombay.
Particulars Statistics
Total fees 4.04 Lakhs
Placement percent 60%
Highest salary INR 14 LPA
Average salary INR 7 LPA
Lowest salary INR 5 LPA
Top recruiters Adobe, Capgemini, Tata Projects, Maruti Suzuki, Byju’s, etc.

The course is good but the placement stats are not very good. If good placement is what you are searching for as the main parameter then you may consider other options.

What is the difference between EEE, EnI and ECE at BITS, Pilani?

PS
Prateek Sharma Posted On : August 5th, 2023
studied at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani

BITS Pilani does not offer an Electronics and Communication Engineering Program. When comes to ENL and EEE, there are some key points you should keep in mind as an applicant, which are listed below

Opportunities – In the current scenario, EEE opens up more opportunities than ENL. For Instance, the Indian Engineering Examination is only applicable to students from ECE and EEE

Campus – BITS Pilani is far better than BITS Hyderabad as they have well-equipped lab and infrastructure

Placement – The three batches can sit for the placement, but the companies give more weight to Communication and Digital Signal Processing

So, it is better to choose EEE than ENL at BITS Pilani.

What is the average placement for the EI branch in IET Lucknow?

MS
Madhuja Samaddar Posted On : August 5th, 2021
Studied at NIT Trichy (2019)

IET Lucknow is one of the famous colleges in Uttar Pradesh. Although being a Tier-3 college, it is preferred by students, as it is fully managed by the Government. One of my friends studied here and these are some of the facts I gathered from her about the college.

  • Most of the degree holders end up becoming clerks in services-based companies. Their salary packages range from 3-4 LPA.
  • There are various mass recruiting IT companies, mostly service-based companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, CTS, etc. which allow the students to sit in campus placements.
  • Once the highest package of IET Lucknow was 30 LPA by Amazon and the average package was 7 LPA.
  • Consulting seniors about placements will also help you a lot.
  • There are no such major opportunities for core placements for the EI branch.
  • But if you want a job in IT services, companies or firms then there are plenty of on-campus as well as off-campus opportunities.

These were some of the basic points you should know about placements. Also last year some of the students were placed in MNCs like DE Shaw, Code Nation, Amazon, Byju's, etc. If you want to prepare for GATE/CAT/GRE, there is a wonderful environment at IET Lucknow.

Which should I choose: Electronics and Instrumentation in BITS Pilani Goa Campus, or Electrical and Electronics in NIT Surathkal?

A
Admin Posted On : September 16th, 2023

Since both the colleges are considered highly reputable and among the best in the country, you should focus on the branch. The choice of the branch directly depends on your inclinations and future goals.

To make it easier for you I have explained each branch in short:

Electrical and Instrumentation:

  • Instrumentation engineering is the engineering specialization that focuses primarily on the principle and operation of measuring instruments that are used in the design and configuration of automated systems in electrical, pneumatic domains, etc.
  • These engineers usually work at chemical or manufacturing plants and their job role involves improving productivity, reliability, safety, optimization, and stability.
  • They are responsible for designing devices that measure physical quantities such as pressure, flow, and temperature. You will require a lot of knowledge in physics much more than electromagnetic theory.

Electrical and Electronics:

  • In this students learn to design electronic circuits, and computer systems and also develop control systems. Electronics play a key role in the implementation and control of electrical machines.
  • The course mainly focuses on designing and testing ICs, inductors, capacitors and resistors and includes fundamentals and principles of physics, mathematics, computer science, and project management.
  • The sub-disciplines of this branch are power, control, electronics, microelectronics and Signal Processing, Telecommunications, Instrumentation and Computers.

Although the choice depends on your own interests, EE has a better scope than EIE.

How good is the electronics and Instrumentation branch in NIT Silchar? What do you recommend between CSE at TEZU and E&I at NIT Silchar?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : October 18th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

Frankly speaking, both Electronics and Instrumentation and CSE are equally good branches that open up ample opportunities in the future. Let us have a brief comparison of the NIT Silchar, E&I, and TEZU.

Infrastructure – TEZU is leading in terms of the best infrastructure and well-equipped lab facilities, especially in the CSE branch.

Faculty – TEZU is gifted with more highly qualified and experienced faculties than others.

Placement – NITs and TEZU have had a good record of placement in recent years.

Research – CSE has an active and advanced research environment at TEZU.

Other than the qualities of the institute, your initial preference should be given to your interest in the core subject.

I have been allotted a seat at the University of Kalyani, in the branch of electronics and instrumentation. What information regarding it should I know?

DS
Disha Sen Posted On : October 1st, 2021
B.Tech Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering,University of Kalyani (2024)

Kalyani University is a very popular institution and pursuing an engineering degree from this university has its own pros and cons. Some of my friends studied there and here are the things I got to know from them.

Pros

  • This institution is owned and run by the government. The complete fees for your 4 years of graduation is less compared to other private colleges.
  • The faculty of this college is very good and all other staff members such as lab assistant, office staff, canteen staff are very helpful.
  • The university also hires some external professors having years of industry experience to teach and guide the students.
  • This gets them accustomed to the corporate culture.
  • The total number of students in this department is less so you will always have the chance to interact with your professors.

Cons

  • One of the biggest demerits of this university is that it doesn't have a proper placement cell in its campus.
  • Securing a job offer is tough, and you have to take the initiative yourself.
  • The infrastructure of this college is average. The computer lab, electronics lab, instrumentation lab don't have adequate facilities.
  • The campus is located in a remote area. But the transportation facility is okay.
Categories Electronics and Instrumentation at University of Kalyani
Course Fee 48,000
Placement Percentage 50%
Highest CTC 10 LPA
Average CTC 6 LPA
Recruiting Companies TCS, Infosys and Wipro
Hence, except for the placement cell and its infrastructure, Kalyani University is a good institution and will train you to make you capable enough of securing a decent job with a good package.

Which is better: electronics and instrumentation in Thapar, IT in Maharaja Agrasen College or CSE in Maharaja Surajmal College?

SD
Simi Dua, Posted On : November 25th, 2021
B.Tech. Information Technology, Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (2019)

Among these three colleges it will be better if you go for CSE at MSIT. As CSE is the most sorted department which will provide you with immense opportunities in the corporate field.

It is recommended that you do not opt for Thapar or especially electronics and instrumentation, as your scope will become limited. CSE or IT will open several gates for your future ahead.

Since you do not have any inclination towards any branch, a core branch like ICE which will require you to be one of the top students in the batch to secure a good job in the core company. Or you will get offered a job from mass recruitment companies.

So it is better to pay less for your undergraduate degree, stay in Delhi and pursue the course in demand.
