In general, the IGNOU calculates the percentage on a 30:70 basis.
Assignments = 30
Theory Exam = 70
Initially, assignments and theory will be graded out of 100. Then it will be converted based on the ratio. So, 30% of the total assignment marks and 70% of the theory exam, both marks are totaled into one.
The percentage is calculated by dividing total marks by the number of subjects, which is 309.7/5= 61.94.
So that's how the marks or percentage or grade calculation works.
The degree you accept and consider is heavily influenced by the people who hire you, i.e. your employers. To give you an accurate picture, the syllabus and study material are far superior to Mumbai University, as it provides in-depth knowledge. If you want to continue your education, the IGNOU degree will not be accepted by any universities abroad.
When you present yourself to a prospective employer, make sure you have a compelling reason for choosing distance education. If the company believes you've spent your time productively improving your skills, you'll be rewarded for it.
If you are studying at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and you failed to pass all the papers in your first year, don't worry, you can still progress to the second year of your course. Here's what you need to know:
It is not just overstated that scoring in IGNOU is difficult; it is true.
IGNOU exams are difficult to pass; they are not like private engineering college exams.
If you are strategic, you can succeed in IGNOU. If you study hard, you might not get anything.
Here is a checklist to help you prepare for your IGNOU exams:
Download exam papers from the previous ten years for both summer and winter sessions.
If possible, download the assignments as well.
Now, for each block, count how many times a question from it was asked.
Determine which blocks are never or only once every 4-6 years.
There will be approximately four such blocks that will undoubtedly be questioned at all times.
Every two or three years, there will be 2-3 such blocks included. With the remaining blocks, these 2-3 blocks will now have optional questions. Begin by thoroughly preparing for the first four sure-shot blocks.
Then prepare the other 2-3; if you prepare these well, you can skip even touching the optional.
Now, here's how you should approach the exam:
In IGNOU, there is a rule that they believe they have created. The rule is that your 20-point answer should be 6-7 pages long.
How to Write a 6-7 Page Long Answer:
Writing a 7-page long answer and attempting 5 such answers in 3 hours is extremely difficult. Neither memory nor creativity would have that much content to offer. As a result, you can draw a margin on the right side of the sheet throughout. This can be as thick as 2.5 inches. It serves two purposes: it reduces the page width and it gives the evaluator enough room to place the marks and total easily. Also, divide your responses into sections:
Introduction
Body
Body subheadings
Conclusion
Highlight important ideas to catch the evaluator's attention. Be direct, specific, and accurate.
Assignments at IGNOU can be done in two different ways:
Use an A4 size notebook to make your assignment.
Make your assignments on loose sheets and bind them together in a file.
Note that the size of the sheet should be A4 only. Also, follow the guidelines for doing assignments provided by IGNOU.
If you enroll in the January session:
Yearly programs — You must submit your assignments by September 30th and your TEE by December 30th.
Semi-annual/semester programs — You must turn in your assignments by April 15th, and your TEE by June 30th.
If you enroll in the July session.
Yearly program—You must submit your assignments by March 31st, and your TEE in June.
Semi-annual/semester programs — You must turn in your assignments by October 15th, and your TEE in December.
IGNOU exams are held twice a year. In June and December. Occasionally, IGNOU extends the deadline.
There's one more thing to think about. Assignments for the July session and the January session (for the following year of that July session) are the same in IGNOU. Also, when you submit the assignments, make sure that they are the most recent available assignments for your course for the current year in which you are submitting them. For example, if you enrolled in January 2021 and did not complete the assignments in the first year, you must complete the newly available assignments for the next year, which are for the January 2022 session.
Below are the tips that you can follow while writing assignments:
Copying ready-made assignments aren't worth it because the answers aren't always correct. So, if you want to copy, think about it first.
To write assignments, you can use either rule sheets or A4 size sheets. Because assignments must be written by hand.
Before beginning to write assignments, go over the questions and try to find answers in textbooks. You're likely to get the majority of your answers from them.
Use online resources because some topics are better explained in online resources than in textbooks.
Leave some space before writing the next question if you're writing in continuation. Alternatively, you can begin a new answer on a new page. It will leave no room for uncertainty or ignorance.
If the question asks for an explanation, include the conclusion in your response under the heading "Conclusion."
Highlight key lines or points in your responses.
If you're a working professional taking an IGNOU course, set a goal of writing one answer per day. This allows you to write assignments quickly and without feeling rushed. It is preferable if you can write a couple of answers per day. It will assist you in avoiding a last-minute run.
On the cover page, include page numbers and the total number of pages for an assignment. If the officials misplace a couple of pages, it is their responsibility, and you will benefit from it.
Complete assignments correctly. The sheets must be properly stapled. Also, submit it in a report file rather than a stick file to avoid misplacement by officials.
Writing assignments on your own helps you prepare for exams. Because it forces you to study the topics in a subject and provides you with an understanding of the topics. So, rather than asking someone else to write it for you, try writing it yourself.
According to the UGC, no universities have been approved to allow students to pursue dual degrees or master's degrees at the same time. Even if you register for one degree at IGNOU and another at another distant or regular university, it will not be valid because UGC does not endorse that. You cannot display both certificates at the same time.
As a result, it is always preferable to complete a B.Com before pursuing an MBA. B.Com in addition to BBA is a challenge. After completing your B.Com, you can enroll in IGNOU's MBA program.
Yes, IGNOU degrees are globally recognized.
IGNOU, the world's largest university, was founded to provide higher education opportunities, particularly to disadvantaged segments of society, to encourage, coordinate, and set standards for distance and open education in India, and to strengthen India's human resources through education.
Aside from teaching and research, the mainstay of its academic activities is extension and training. It also serves as a national resource centre, promoting and maintaining distance education standards in India. The Secretariats of the SAARC Consortium on Open and Distance Learning (SACODiL) and the Global Mega Universities Network (GMUNET), both of which were initially supported by UNESCO, are housed at IGNOU.
IGNOU currently serves approximately 2 million students in India and 35 countries around the world through twenty-one schools and a network of 59 regional centers, seven sub-regional centers, 2300 study centers, and 52 overseas centres. IGNOU enrols approximately 10% of all students enrolled in higher education in India. IGNOU provides 175 academic programs with 1100 courses at the certificate, diploma, and degree levels. In addition, the twenty-one Schools offer a variety of non-accredited extension and skill-oriented programs.
