SOL is a good option only when you are looking for just a degree but it does not carry a great value in the industry. In every sector, while competing for a job, regular students will be given the first preference and then the SOL students will be valued, although the degree will be the same.
I have even seen some work postings referencing "SOL understudies are not qualified to apply". In the end, regular students are preferred more over SOL students irrespective of the degree.
SOL DU is recognized by UGC, so you will be eligible to apply for a regular LLB from Delhi University. The following are the requirements for admission to Delhi University's law school for the LLB degree program.
You will also need to give an entrance examination if you are applying for this course. I recommend that you contact the relevant university for more information.
Yes, you can change your subject in SOL(DU). Here's the step-by-step process to help you:
STEP 1: First, you need to visit the SOL office to change your subject. If you're wondering where it is, it is located at 5 Cavalry Lines, University of Delhi, New Delhi, Delhi 110007. The nearest metro station is Vishwavidyalya. You can either take an auto or walk.
STEP 2: When visiting the office, make sure to bring your ID card and fee receipt. You'll need to show them at the entrance.
STEP 3: Go to room number 10 and inform the teacher about your request that you want to change your subject. Fill out the form and submit the photocopies of the following documents:
STEP 4: An application fee of INR 100 will be charged to process the same. Make sure to keep the receipt as it will have your new SOL roll number on it.
STEP 5: And that's it! You've successfully changed your subject in SOL.
Hope this helps. Good luck
You should not seek a B. Com course from DU SOL neither Program nor honors. As a CA candidate, you should get enrolled in a B.com program from IGNOU. In comparison to DU SOL, it will provide you with a higher level of education with good faculty members and facilities for a B.Com program.
The biggest advantage would be that you only have to attempt 4 or 5 tests during the entirety of your course. According to the terms and conditions of the MOU and your CA Results, you will be excused from another subject based on certain conditions. One of my friends graduated from DU SOL with a B.Com degree, which, according to him, adds no value to his profession as a CA aspirant.
Furthermore, if you enroll in DU SOL to pursue a program in B.Com, you will be required to visit examination centers that you have never heard of in the city of Delhi. I insist that you consider ideas and suggestions from CA pursuant who have pursued or are pursuing a B.Com program from DU SOL and are members of the CA Fraternity.
For M.Com in DU, you can apply through two ways which are as follows –
First, which is purely based on your scores in graduation degree or direct admission. Eligibility criteria for the same is mentioned below:
Second, which is purely based on the entrance.
Eligibility:
The eligibility is the same for both Regular and SOL. In SOL, the percentage of Cut-off is low as compared to regular, and the seat number is greater than regular. For further clarifications, you can take help from ‘Welcome to Department of Commerce M.Com.’
IGNOU is better than DU SOL, for a BA General correspondence program. An IGNOU degree is better recognized in the country. You can get the online course materials easily from the official website. IGNOU has good lab facilities as well.
It conducts classes and examinations on time. You can get help from the faculties online regarding any course-related doubts.
One of my friends graduated from SOL DU and here’s what I got to know from him. He mentioned that the recommended books vary from student to student.
Do not forget to study the S.O.L. books and Ten Years. Study hard, because scoring good marks will help to enhance your aggregate percentage.
Earlier there was no difference between the DU SOL courses and the regular college courses.
But now, the pattern of conducting exams has been changed for regular students. The university has introduced a new semester scheme in which exams are conducted twice a year. Whereas, for SOL students, exams are conducted once a year. Otherwise, the syllabus is the same and quite good.
The semester mode had brought a slight difference between SOL DU and regular courses.
SOL DU students usually get stressed out when the exams are very near and want quick preparation that involves the solution of the question paper. For the same many books are available with detailed solutions of previous year’s papers.
For quick preparation, you can refer to Kings Champion, 10 Years, or Kings Pocket. These books can help you immensely throughout your preparation. Around 85-90% of questions come from these books.
You can have an idea regarding the kind of questions you will be having in your paper. So, speed up your preparation with these books.
It is not mandatory to pass all the subjects in any year of B.Com Hons in SOL DU. Usually, many students fail in two subjects and still manage to complete the degree.
There is a criterion set by the university, if you manage to get at least 40% marks in total then two subjects below 33% will be considered as a pass.
You can apply for re-examination if you can re-appear and score much higher than the previous term. There will be an additional fee for filling the examination form
