Which is better: electronics and instrumentation in Thapar, IT in Maharaja Agrasen College or CSE in Maharaja Surajmal College?

SD

B.Tech. Information Technology, Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (2019)

Among these three colleges it will be better if you go for CSE at MSIT. As CSE is the most sorted department which will provide you with immense opportunities in the corporate field.

It is recommended that you do not opt for Thapar or especially electronics and instrumentation, as your scope will become limited. CSE or IT will open several gates for your future ahead.

Since you do not have any inclination towards any branch, a core branch like ICE which will require you to be one of the top students in the batch to secure a good job in the core company. Or you will get offered a job from mass recruitment companies.

So it is better to pay less for your undergraduate degree, stay in Delhi and pursue the course in demand.

The answer to this question lies in the option between the choice of branch and college, and which one you will give preference to.

  • You should first know where your interest lies and which branch is your preference.
  • Choosing a branch is more important than choosing a college.
  • This is a very important aspect as you will be learning that subject for the next four years and your career will depend on it.
  • Once you are clear about the interest, you do not have to compare colleges.

If in case, you want to focus on your GPAs, then Vidyalankar Institute of Technology can be a good choice because you will have all the required study materials. Some of them include GQs, EQs, and others. Mainly, the professors go around to encourage you in scoring particularly well in your semesters.

There is another factor you need to understand. If you are planning to go for acquiring a good knowledge base, then you will also have access to certain topics such as Stack Overflow, Instructables, Hackster, arXiv.org, Ieee Xplore, and several others.

You might not receive the knowledge base in either of the institutes, but you can still have a slight edge at Vidyalankar Institute of Technology if you go for a good GPA.

Electronics and Instrumentation at BITS Pilani and Electronics and Communication at MNNIT Allahabad both are good choices. Also, BITS Pilani and MNNIT are reputed institutes. So, you should choose either of these two options based on your interest.

I have few friends at BITS, s I can give you some idea about their ENI branch.

  • ENI course offered by BITS Pilani is great in terms of academics and pay package. ENI is derived from EEE courses with only 3 - 4 courses being different from EEE.
  • BITS also offers extensive lab facilities for their EEE branch due to CEERI.
  • According to the recent placement highlights, the average and highest CTC offered at BITS is 15.96 LPA and 9.7 LPA. At MNNIT the average and highest CTC are 10 LPA and 49 LPA respectively.

For further information or so you can definitely visit the official sites of both the colleges. You can also visit their Facebook pages, where you will be able to find seniors from these branches who can give you more information regarding the branches.

Avilasha Tandon Posted On : September 28th, 2020
Studied at National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal (2017)

First, you should decide which course you want to pursue B.E. in Electronics or B.E. in Civil Engineering as that would help in comparing institutes and choose the one with the better program.

NIT Surathkal is considered to be one of the best colleges in the country to pursue engineering courses. NIRF 2020 has ranked the institute at 13 for its BTech program. Whereas ranked at 68 for BTech by NIRF 2020, PEC is also one of the Pioneer engineering colleges of the country that imparts quality education in engineering.

Admission:

NIT Surathkal- The total fee for BTech in Civil Engineering program in NIT Surathkal is 5.39 lakh.

NIT Surathkal offers decent placements for Civil. However, there are not many core companies visiting the campus for Civil Engineering students. Some of the major recruiters like Microsoft, Intuit, Sprinkler, Goldman Sachs, etc. visit the placement drive each year.

On the other hand, Punjab Engineering College has an impressive placement rate. The major companies visiting the campus for recruitment are Google, Amazon, Hatach, Havells India, American Express, HCL Infosystems, etc.

Institute

NIT Surathkal

PEC

Average CTC

What should I take: IIT BHU Electronics or IIT Kanpur Chemical Engineering?

AS
Abhirup Singh Posted On : August 14th, 2020
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi

If you are interested in a particular branch then go for that as IIT BHU and Kanpur both of these institutions are among the top institutions in India. Both the institutions are quite old, so they are up to the mark in the alumni network, placements, and internship, etc. But if you are not sure about the branch then consider the following points –

The department of Electronics Engineering at IIT BHU dates back to 1971 and equipped with good laboratory facilities. The faculties are well experienced. According to 2019 placement statistics, a total of 88 students got placed from Electronics Engineering. The average CTC offered at this IIT was around 8.19 lakhs/annum.

The department of Chemical Engineering in IIT Kanpur is considered among the best in the nation. If you are passionate about higher studies, research, or placement in government/ semi-government jobs (PSUs) then you can go for Chemical, but it has very few non-core placement opportunities. Chemical engineering provides more opportunities in higher studies and research. The average placement package offered at IIT Kanpur in 2019 was around 7.5 LPA.
