The right choice between the given institutions will be completely dependent upon what your expectations are from a college is. It completely depends on you to frame the ideal requirements you would want to have from your choice of academic institution. A friend suggested Chandigarh University guaranteeing fulfilment of certain expectations of mine:

  • Infrastructure: Chandigarh University has a huge campus that is spread across 200 acres and offers 13 libraries, multiple academic blocks, hostel facilities with an attached mess area, high-quality practical labs which are very well maintained, an open-air theatre, convenience stores and much more.

I want to do BSC (Agriculture) from Himgiri Zee University Dehradun. Is it a better choice to do it from there?

BCA Information Technology & Computer Science, Himgiri ZEE University (2018)

Himgiri Zee University Dehradun is a good choice only if you are planning to pursue any course in the field of agriculture from this university. Apart from agriculture, Himgiri Zee University is not well known for any other specialized courses.

  • According to the majority of reviews provided by former students, the university doesn’t provide the facilities promised at the time of admission. The university is definitely not the right choice for pursuing any specialized course.
  • Former students complain about the lack of coordination from the management of the university.
  • The university does not offer good placements. Even the students of Mass-communication are placed in posts like content-writer or back-end jobs.
  • Some of the courses at the university even have 2-3 students in total. A friend of mine did his MBA from this university and had a total of 4 classmates.
  • However, the Agriculture department is good and offers decent academics.

The table below gives a brief overview of the B.Sc (Hon.) in Agriculture at the university.

Course Name

B.Sc. (Hons.) in Agriculture

Total Fees

INR 40,000 per semester

Course Level

UG Degree

Eligibility

12th Pass (45% or More) in PCB/PCM/Agriculture stream

Before getting enrolled in this university don't forget to visit the campus personally and check all the necessary facilities you’re searching for. Talk to the current students and they can tell you about the real situation of academics at the institute.

BPED Physical Education & Sports Science Amity UniversityNoida (2022)

Amity University Noida has its own agriculture institute named Amity Institute of Organic Agriculture. The institute has under graduation and post-graduation in agriculture. BSc Agriculture is the under graduation course. One should consider the following factors to decide whether this course is best or not.

  • Placement: The placement activities are pretty good and the highest salary package offered is 3 Lakhs per annum. The average salary package offered ranges from Rs 25, 000 to Rs 26, 000 per month. The percentage of students who get placed is above the average of 70%. The jobs were offered in agriculture companies and food processing companies. Top recruiters were Coromandel, Pepsico, Parle agro, Aqua Agri, Vansun, BKC Weather, etc. The institute also guarantees a 100 % internship and it also provides student exchange programs. The student exchange program benefits the student to go to foreign universities for internships.

  • Scope: The job opportunities are available in both the public sector as well as the private sector. The job opportunities are obtainable in Agriculture Research Assistant, Extension officer, Agriculture officer, Plantation Manager, Production Manager, Agri Preneurship, Farm manager, Food Processing units in Government, Field Officer, etc. After BSc, one could also pursue MSc program and further Ph.D. program as well and become a lecturer or research assistant.

  • Course structure: The course duration is 4 years i.e. eight semesters. The course is broad which includes both theoretical and practical parts. The course enhances the learning of scientific and economic crop production. Even though the course is not recognized by ICAR, the syllabus is based on ICAR. The first six semesters cover almost all topics in agriculture such as Agronomy, Agribusiness management, Plant pathology, Genetics, Animal rearing, Rural economy, etc. The final two semesters are more practical in nature which include Outside activity-based courses and the study of agriculture at the field level. The course curriculum also has a mandatory summer internship which enables the student to know about the job prospects and scope.

  • Faculty: The faculties are well experienced in the field. The faculty-student ratio is 1:17. Thus, it promotes attention to individual students to excel in their performance.

  • Infrastructure: The institute fulfills the basic necessities required for the course which include Wi-fi availability, well-equipped laboratory, organic farm, and a good library.
