My uncle is a professor of Mathematics at IIT Delhi. According to him, one should prioritize the subject/ branch instead of the college while making such decisions.
You have an interest in CSE, as mentioned by you. In that case, you should go for the best college that is offering you CSE. An ‘IIT’ tag is definitely worthy and IITs have their own advantages. However, it will boil down to nothing if you have no interest in your branch.
But, I also wish to make it clear that NIT Kurukshetra does not offer CSE (Computer Science Engineering). Instead, it offers Computer Engineering (CE). The former revolves around Software, while the latter pays more attention to Hardware.
Try to find out more about CE, and then make your final decision. If you decide that CE is a better choice for you, go for NIT Kurukshetra. Otherwise, choose the other option.
You can also look for some other good colleges that offer CSE.
My friend is a third-year CSE student at NIT Warangal. These are his tips to enhance your programming skills during your summer holidays-
These tips are useful for CSE freshers from all colleges and universities, and not just NIT Warangal.
CSE at Techno India University is one of the topmost streams of engineering. There are certain points that will let you analyse if this course is suitable to study at TIU as per your requirements:
CSE in Techno India University has been given a good review overall. If we talk about faculties. They have almost all the faculties with doctorate degrees. Their experience helps the students to get an overall insight about the course. The infrastructure of the university is also excellent. There are a number of facilities provided by the university. All the classrooms are centrally air conditioned. They are equipped with projectors and mikes for teaching especially for PowerPoint presentations. The university also has good computer labs with enough computers along with a good Wi-Fi connection.
Students have completed their internships at Microsoft, IIT Kharagpur etc. Placement wise, almost 50% of the students receive two offers each and the overall placement rate is about 100% which is aimed at achieving every year.
Some of the high profile companies that visit the campus every year for placement procedures are Microsoft, Intel, TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Amazon, Bosch, Thoughtworks, Cerner, Hitachi, Capgemini, Wipro, Mindtree, Accenture, CGI, SAP, IBM, ITC Infotech, and many more.
These are some companies that provide an average of 10LPA and above salary packages. In conclusion, you are given good facilities academically and placement structure wise. If your criteria meets with the above points, then you can enrol for this course in TIU.
My friend did his B.Tech ECE from NSIT. According to him, NSIT ECE is a better choice than BIT Mesra CSE. Here are the reasons for his preference for NSIT ECE-
Thus, I would suggest you choose NSIT ECE over BIT Mesra CSE.
During NIT Hamirpur Placements 2022, the highest number of students were placed in the Computer Science branch. Also, the CSE branch had the highest placement percentage in comparison to other branches. If you are a CSE student here, you are likely to get placed given that you are good at coding.
Here are the detailed placement statistics of the NIT Hamirpur CSE branch
Eligible Students |
94 |
Students Placed |
91 |
Placement Percentage |
96.81% |
Placement Offers |
139 |
Highest CTC |
INR 1.12 CPA |
Some of the top recruiters who participated in the placement drive were CRED, Stryker Corporation, Philips, etc.
My friend studies in IIIT-Sricity which shared some faculties with IIIT Hyderabad initially as it was under its mentorship.
Generally, you can find both good and bad professors here. But the bad here does not mean underqualified, but arrogant ones. By no means will you find a professor who is underqualified and their extensive knowledge is their biggest weapon. Some of them are as great as Prof Raj Reddy, a Turing award winner which is considered a Nobel Prize or Oscar for Computer Science. So you can get an idea of the level of faculties here.
In reality, most students at IIIT Hyderabad are dependent on peers or seniors more than their faculty. So you can stop bothering about the parity of the professors here.
CS branch stands out from all other branches in CGC Landran. In CGC, there are two colleges - COE and CEC
Looking at the academics, CEC is better.
Features of College:
Fee for 4 years |
INR 3.70 Lakhs |
Highest Placement |
INR 35.00 LPA |
Major Recruiters |
Accenture, HCL, Wipro Technologies, Cognizant, TCS, LG Soft, Google, etc. |
Top Job Roles |
Developers, Design Engineers, Solution Integrators, Network Administrators |
To conclude, CGC is a decent college for CS branches. But it would be better to score more marks in JEE Mains to go for JAC Chandigarh.
One of my friends was in a similar dilemma when he got both CSE at IIIT Delhi and CSE at IIT Patna.
Although he lived in Delhi, he did not choose IIIT Delhi and went for IIT Patna instead. There were a number of reasons why he chose Patna.
Ultimately, Delhi has a better location but that is outweighed by the IIT tag.
If I leave my biases towards Delhi as a city aside. I would choose CSE at IIT KGP over MNC at IITD.
According to one of my friend's opinions, if you belong to the state Punjab and have completed your studies till class 12 there then you can take a chance for a counseling round.
But if not there are very less chances with a JEE Mains rank of 47,000 and it seems difficult mostly to the students belonging to the general category.
The recent cut-off has been indicated below that can give you a reference regarding the JEE Mains rank:
Year/Category | General | OBC | SC |
2020 | 426 | 106844 | 155233 |
From the above table you can clearly get an idea regarding the level of difficulty that a general candidate faces.
Work hard and score a good percentile score to get admission to one of the leading universities in the country.
